But you fail to take into account his contested marking ability, tackling and scoreboard impact (goals) and so on comparative to the rest of his competition which a large portion of coaches continually fail to recognise whilst they keep selecting outside midfielders foolishly hoping they will magically make it to a 110 avg cause.

Champion Data employees are ineligible to win any prizes thus there is no incentive to intentionally distort figures given the intended users do not care about Supercoach.
I understand the game fine, I know the difference in scoring between inside midfielders and outside midfielders.

Sorry but it was a joke, maybe not funny but a joke, next time I will put in a 😝 face.

a bit of tongue in cheek there I reckon.

Gathered it was the case but becomes tiresome week in and week out, month in and month out, preseason after preseason when everyone recycles the same joke.

Not sure if anyone takes it seriously and believes he receives unearned points as the means was more to address the fact that some coaches fail to take or do not take enough consideration into areas such as contested marking, goal kicking, tackles, etc and are fixated on averages when considering a player.

I guess this potentially eliminates the need for goal umpires completely (and reduces the need for boundary umpires by determining if a ball goes over the boundary line) once this is implemented? Guess they would still need the goal umpires to determine if the ball was touched through or hit the post, unless they leave that decision up to field umpires / have video reviews of everything..
Get rid of the pity point for missing the goals so that we do not have another premier determined by who misses the most. Knock down two sticks and if it goes through the middle award a goal, no matter whether it has been touched. Problem solved, quicker turnaround and no need to spend unnecessary amounts on different types of technology. ;)

Not entirely sure what use it has otherwise except for possibly determining stuff like how far out a set shot is for broadcasters. Maybe they could use it to determine if a kick went 15m+ (a free that is often missed) if they can get the info instantly, that would actually be beneficial.

I thought this technology was available so glad to see they are trialling it, but still not exactly sure they will utilise it well.
I think the main benefits will be around, 1. Confirming if the ball did or didn’t cross the line (or was touched before or after crossing the line), 2. Detecting the minor brushes of the post, and 3. Helping to determine the ball fight when it goes over the post and it’s harder to determine the score.

I think it’s actually one of the areas I’m glad the AFL is finally pushing into. They do so much fluff stuff they spruik as a success but this is finally something that could have a tangible benefit. If this works and they actually invest in proper cameras on all grounds, it’ll eliminate a lot of the issues!

I hope broadcasters don't use it to put pointless infographics all over the screen.
