Honestly I didn't really, it was a first draft. I've since downgraded butters to nic Martin for cash for Jordon and Billings.
Also considered Amon.

There is a lot of potentially good rookies, but every year we end up with a charlie constable or alwyn Davey just sitting in a bench spot and nigh untradeable. A team like this should reduce the number of dead rookie spots as it doesn't require as many and you can target only the rookies who are more of a 'sure thing' and less speculative.

The thinking with the fringe premos is that they hopefully move up to 550 ish and then I can slant sideways them for a top tier premo who has dipped towards 600 whenever that happens.
Thank you - that makes sense.

The extra trades should help with those sideways moves. If there’s an injury or the like, you could potentially be extracting some cash in going from a value pick to a higher scorer who has had a low TOG game. Probably just need to ensure there is positional flexibility to take the gifts that present.

I’m not quite as worried about the Constable types (given we have more trades to fix them, and boosts to address the upgrade cadence issue), but avoiding those dud rookies is still quite helpful.

I think that avoiding players who cop a vest at the wrong time is one of the main advantages of investing a bit more in the cash cows, albeit we still need to pick the right ones.

This is quite an interesting exercise.

I am less wary about the early byes than most, and think a value focus is more viable this year with more trades, so this is potentially quite relevant and workable.

I have a slightly different view on value upside (which is natural) and probably wouldn’t be as confident on Sheezel. The two C options aren’t ones I’m quite so positive on either, I wonder what this would look like if you subbed Butters and LDU out for a rookie plus your tip to be the top scorer in the first six weeks or so, looped them with a combo of Gawn et al, and then spread the cash to more mid priced names (eg Billings sort of pricing and perhaps above).

This side only has c. 8 first order upgrades to do, which should be pretty easy. Then you could go around again upgrading the fringe premiums/those who’ve had a good run bit may be regressing due to role or fitness, to strengthen the true “completed” team. It could work with all the extra trades and boosts.

Two challenges I am finding in tilting towards this type of approach are (1) rookies are structurally underpriced, potentially by a large margin if they play - meaning the best cash cows will often be rookies, and this year’s crop looks pretty good, and (2) I can’t see as much value in the $200-400k range as I seem to recall from prior years.

SC may be giving us the tools to make a more midpriced madness side workable for once … but finding the players to actually implement it could prove difficult this year!

Nice work on this. I’d be interested the other value names you considered.
BOOM 💥 Exactly this (in Bold). 💯 Guns & Rookies for me at this stage

Sitting on this iteration as of right now.

Keen to hear your thoughts.

Solid lineup with the only queries around Liberatore, Martin and Fisher and the alternatives for that trio. For example Liberatore, Martin and Fisher could be switched for say Brayshaw, Guthrie and Flanders or Miller, Dusty and Guthrie if you wish to maintain a similar structure and feel that they present greater upside.

I'm not sure there is a place for GnR anymore the way the games changed. More trades means you gotta generate more value at a faster rate to keep up.

I hate it.
its one thing i have learned playing NFL RDT. With so many trades its about maintaining ttv- total team value and managing break evens with team matchups. If a player is forecast to drop significant coin he is gone for one thats rising in value, especially if he has a tough run of games coming up even if he's a premo aka sideways trading. Money ball.
Gotta manage the price drops as much as rises.

In All fantasy games you come up against a player with a ttv significantly higher than yours, ur gonna lose more times than you win or lose ground in the total points/ overall ranking game.

Is that what you're going with or did you just want to see what it looks like?
So remaining salary is 12k and you have probably 12 keepers, and you don't have the likes of Sicily, Daicos, Bont, Butters, Brayshaw.
I forsee top line envy there haha
I'd like to see what a sub 500k team looks like, just out of interest. :)

Just seeing what it looks like. Most enjoyable part of the season is playing around with lineups in the preseason.

Appreciate the feedback! Funnily enough this is the first of five possible sides that I've included Libba in. Is the concern mainly around his price? Or, is it mainly around Bevo's unpredictability?

After diving into Fisher's risk profile, I've retooled. Less than 5 midfield premos raises red flags but I've managed to squeeze in Daicos/Stewart/Sicily in this one. You think my midfield is far too vulnerable here?

Combination of price and age as well as no confidence that he can push the 120+ range whilst there should be plenty of options below his price providing more value to avoid overpaying for too many $600,000+ guys. Bevo facfor doesn’t really faze me.

Hard to say what is too strong or weak in a position yet but usually I do like a structure with five non rookie midfielders. This could be achieved by dropping Emmett to a rookie defender via Harmes/Jordon to the forward line and one of the $600,000+ defenders to a $600,000 midfielder.

Supercoach have gotta give us a nice salary cap increase rather than more trades next season in line with NFL RDT. ;)

Spot on with rest of the strategies learned from NFL and hopefully it can finally translate to a good AFL SC rank by trading early, trading often and using those boosts as quickly as possible to ideally maximise both cash gen and points rather than saving for situational scenarios that may never eventuate where three trades may be beneficial post bye, etc.
