My latest squad that seems to change regularly.
Still very vanilla which is disappointing, but maybe these guys are popular for a reason.
I've researched, (Googled) Tom Emmett, and I'm impressed with what I've read. Seems to be very hard at it and well respected at the club.
Sexton . Just have to wait for the pre season games to see if he has this half back gig.
Funds are tight with 15k remaining but happy enough with the squad.

Why would you take the potential number 1 defender in Daicos and start him in the midfield as M1?
Has the DPP so can be moved back into defense once you fill your mid premiums. Actually allows your structure to pick an extra defense premium if set up correctly…
means not paying up for a Bont type whom is priced out…

This is where I'm at. Walsh I'm not sure on yet and Steele a risk but if he stays fit the value is there. Short over Sheezel at this stage.
I don't want to pay this much for bont but I also don't want the headache of getting him in later.

With more and more rookies showing promising signs early, I’ve settled on this for now.

I think I’ve got all the “must have” rookies but will be needing a lot of the 117K ones to get a gig for this to be viable.

12 Premiums, 3 Mid-Pricers (Fyfe, Billings, Williams) and rookies!

Pretty confident with the structure as Roberts and Macrae as my 19th and 20th priced options should score decent over the early bye rounds.

One of the biggest issues I've had in the past few seasons playing Supercoach is my tendency to have deadweight for the last 4-5 players; like Charlie Constable last season. For this team, I'm trying to avoid the temptation to avoid spending extra on rookies on the bench, because you can always turn a $150k bench rookie into a $124k rookie, but not vice-versa.

There is one major caveat with how I pick my side; anyone who is or will be 30 years old or older at any time during the Home and Away season does not come into consideration for my team. Gawn, Grundy, Jack Macrae and possibly Alex Sexton are probably the most glaring omissions under this.

I did flip between completely purging all early bye players from my starting side barring Zac Williams. but have come around to including some.

Starting with the defence. Sheezel, Young, Williams and Gibcus have been mainstays; Hore and Coffield if they play. I don't know if Sheezel will get the lucrative half-back role or whether he'll be up the ground more; I'm picking him for natural talent. Daicos and Sicily are shakier selections; I reckon Daicos is probably as solid a selection as they come barring the early run and the bye; but he's so prolific that hopefully he can pull out decent games as his floor. Sicily is the one I'm most likely to drop; I reckon he's the kind of player who's most likely to drop $100k.

Just missed out: Ryan, Sinclair, Budarick, Chapman

I had Sinclair as D1 for quite some time, but he's an upgrade target for now. Luke Ryan is a definite consideration; I just prefer to spread my premiums around different clubs. Budarick has the inconvenient early bye, and Chapman has just had a recent injury.

I think the only thing of note is how deep the midfield bats. Jordan Dawson is my soft-spot pick; with Matt Crouch in he could lose a few PPG. I've even considered some lineups with Nic Martin at M7, but I think this one brings more overall balance. Obvious Touk and Steele are riskier picks but I think I rather them who have the capacity to hit 115+ numbers over a Crouch who I reckon caps out in the mid 100s.

Obviously this side is only really viable if Conway and Sweet play; but I don't think they need to be outright #1. With the four early byes, I'm hoping to cover any early ruck scoring deficiencies with best 18 scoring, and playing rookie priced rucks are generally some of the best cash generators going around. At any rate, a trade of Sicily to Marshall is probably the way I'd go if Conway or Sweet aren't viable selections.

Toughest line. Had a team with Harley Reid F2 this morning. Brought Zac Fisher back in over Liam Baker. Harmes in over Billings. Spent a little at F5 and F6. Half the line could change by the day.

Only $1900 in the bank too so little room to maneuver, but it is probably the side that I'm happiest about in every position the whole pre-season.

Second attempt at making a team. Have paid up for rookies on the bench and a few on field but may downgrade them once cheaper ones pop up either with good roles or job security. This team has injury worries and issues written all over it but the value they all present is insane. The rookies I have on field so far look to me like they are fieldable, would like to keep the others as close to the bench as possible. Only weak spots are D6 and F6 whereas other teams I've seen have more rookies on field. I guess that's what happens when you go more mid-price heavy.

Defence: Stewarts run is too good out of all the premium defenders in my opinion, looks like there won't be a better time to own him than the first 10 or so rounds, still presents value as well. Yeo might be a bit controversial but if he can last all the way through pre season and for at least the first 10 rounds I think you'd count that as a win. No one is going to push him out of the midfield, historically scores well with the role. The only question is how long he'll stay on the park. I'm not sure about Budarick yet but the limited reports have been good. Really the only similarly priced player similar to Chapman that has appeal. Rest is pretty vanilla.

Midfield: Crouch has been left out for Parish, maybe an overreaction to pre season reports but we'll see how it goes. Walsh is value regardless of the bye, full preseason so far as well which he hasn't done in years. Martin has played every match sim in defence, taking kick outs and apparently going really well. I'm not sure he'll be a top 6 defender but I can see him getting close enough that it would be justifiable for the price. Going to be really scary not owning Bont for the first portion of the year, His run hasn't been talked about enough and can't really see him falling too much in price. Going to be really tricky to get both him and Daicos by the byes.

Rucks: Not much to add here.

Forwards: I'm surprised a few teams don't have Flanders on here, I think he's F1 by a long way from all the other options available barring any DPP additions throughout the year. The rest of this line, who knows. Windsor has been good apparently and looks like playing a mix of wing and half forward. Not really ideal for the price but the options are pretty bare so far. Fin Macrae was one I had earlier but hard to see him getting games early by all reports.

Open to any recommendations or opinions.

This is where I am sitting as of today. My 3 defender premiums have not changed which may be a good sign. Think rookies may dictate the need for another premium down there which will be out of Daicos or Houston depending on funds available.

The captaincy analysis from Rowsus has made me find the funds for Bont. Lock in VC or C every week. Laird and LDU have stayed in my team for most of the pre season so far. Think both have a bit of upside and can also be handy VC/C options. Green's early bye isn't ideal and could easily become Serong or Brayshaw or Butters. The reason I have Green ahead of them so far was his crazy finish to last season showed us what he is capable of and has the type of game that is built for SC. Don't see much changing in the Giants midfield while interested to see how Serong and Brayshaw are affected by Brodie and Fyfe pushing back into the middle with Young also playing full time there now. Port in a similar vein with Wines super fit from all reports and another year under JHF's belt may impact Butters but it is all guess work now so will watch pre season closely.

I'm a big Darcy truther and think he has a 120+ season in him somewhere and want to make sure I am on the bandwagon when it happens. Gawn seems a straightforward pick and have him ahead of Grundy so far as am unsure if Grundy's last two years are a genuine decline or role based. His last 29 games he has averaged 91.3. Still like Marshall as a pick as well but unsure if he is worth the extra at the moment.

F1 has been a revolving door and for the time being it has landed on Daniel. Interested to see what role he gets this year and how the Dogs structure up with Harmes coming in and Smith out. Macrae, Jackson, Martin, Flanders all in consideration for F1 and could go a bit crazy and run with Humphrey there. The three mid-pricers here isn't ideal but not sure how much of a difference it is on this line from what these guys might average compared to those in that $450k+ price bracket.

Rookies for now are mostly placeholders and have favoured having no sub $150k players on field just for adjustments sake. Hoping we get plenty of fieldable $123k rookies and can sneak in an extra premium.

Interested to hear the community's thoughts.

Looks great. Now put the app away until R0 is done, or the 'Fyfe chat group' I mean 'injury thread' strikes. I don't have him or Jordon high on my wish list atm.
