Heath Shaw's current team :-

View attachment 67685

It is unique, will give him that :p
"Heath, this year there are some teams that have an extra bye. Shouldn't have more than. One on any line, and preferably not more than 3 from any week. You have 6 GWS/GCS players. Delete team."

Edit appears I'm not the only one to appreciate this pile.

Second attempt at making a team. Have paid up for rookies on the bench and a few on field but may downgrade them once cheaper ones pop up either with good roles or job security. This team has injury worries and issues written all over it but the value they all present is insane. The rookies I have on field so far look to me like they are fieldable, would like to keep the others as close to the bench as possible. Only weak spots are D6 and F6 whereas other teams I've seen have more rookies on field. I guess that's what happens when you go more mid-price heavy.

Defence: Stewarts run is too good out of all the premium defenders in my opinion, looks like there won't be a better time to own him than the first 10 or so rounds, still presents value as well. Yeo might be a bit controversial but if he can last all the way through pre season and for at least the first 10 rounds I think you'd count that as a win. No one is going to push him out of the midfield, historically scores well with the role. The only question is how long he'll stay on the park. I'm not sure about Budarick yet but the limited reports have been good. Really the only similarly priced player similar to Chapman that has appeal. Rest is pretty vanilla.

Midfield: Crouch has been left out for Parish, maybe an overreaction to pre season reports but we'll see how it goes. Walsh is value regardless of the bye, full preseason so far as well which he hasn't done in years. Martin has played every match sim in defence, taking kick outs and apparently going really well. I'm not sure he'll be a top 6 defender but I can see him getting close enough that it would be justifiable for the price. Going to be really scary not owning Bont for the first portion of the year, His run hasn't been talked about enough and can't really see him falling too much in price. Going to be really tricky to get both him and Daicos by the byes.

Rucks: Not much to add here.

Forwards: I'm surprised a few teams don't have Flanders on here, I think he's F1 by a long way from all the other options available barring any DPP additions throughout the year. The rest of this line, who knows. Windsor has been good apparently and looks like playing a mix of wing and half forward. Not really ideal for the price but the options are pretty bare so far. Fin Macrae was one I had earlier but hard to see him getting games early by all reports.

Open to any recommendations or opinions.
Hi mate, decent effort but I would rather see Curtin in your backline than Yeo, have you watched Curtin's 12 minute highlights video?, he's a solid player, then you could possibly turn Budarick into a bonafide premo, also don't like the Fyfe choice just because he's a ticking time bomb and will probably let you down, he was the beginning of the end of my season last year! I like the Parish choice, and hopefully Martin can increase his average this year. Not sold on Harmes or Billings yet, will wait to see who gets named, nice job although a little risky for my preference, it's whatever you prefer to do is what matters most :)

I haven’t seen much of Curtin yet but all the talk is that he’s going to be a great player. I’d be keen to start him but just want some assurance on the role if I’m paying up for him. Interrupted pre season doesn’t help much either.

I agree a lot of the players in the team so far do come with their injury risks but with a few extra trades this year it almost seems the game is getting more similar to AFL Fantasy. Unsure if you’ve played but chasing value and going more midprice heavy has been successful with the excess trades. I can see SuperCoach turning out that way this year.

Budarick I think can go at 90 if he’s on kickouts like he was back end of last. Hardwick compared him to Short back at the tigers who was the only real consistent scorer for Richmond for a long time.

I can see Fyfe being one of the more consistent forward scorers if he’s getting 60% CBAs if he holds up, which is sort of what has been said by Freo so far. If you don’t start him, and he’s got the role and scoring well whilst many of the others probably won’t be score overly well, you probably won’t have much choice but to get him in anyway. You’ve missed out on his scores and have probably traded him in closer to the inevitable injury. If he can last and has the role he’s worth having if he can get through pre season fine. Can see the argument for going against him though as he burnt many last year and previous, was playing forward last year though.

Appreciate the response and feedback.

I do not go well but it always in a consistent range but I open to ideas to have a more consistent start and right to the finish.
Hi Buddy, if this is the type of teams you’ve been starting with in the past then I don’t think you have any problems with starting teams, this team is a very good team for this time of the season, trading at the right time and right player is where it’s won or lost and of course a heavy dose of luck, maybe spend a bit of time through the upgrade season looking at your teams weaknesses instead of the flavour of the month player and rectify them first, of course the other aspect is byes love them or hate them you have to allow for them and I guarantee if your playing 20 minimum for each one you’ll jump the rankings. Best of luck.

Thanks guess I sometimes trade bad or bad VC/C scores run me back too but I will take everything you said and take it into count.

Played around a bit structure-wise.

I think the defensive line is the one with the most certainty around premos currently. So have paid up there to get Sic, Stewart (Naicos in mids) and Young being the one most likely to move into the top 6 spot.

Windhager I was big on last year and he just had a bit of an injury interrupted start to the year but showed glimpses at the end. Will keep an eye on him and Budarick as value options to start down back with the hope to make a quick 80-100k in the first 6 weeks or so.

Similar aim with Dow. Think he can make quick cash prior to the Tiges early bye and be moved on then to facilitate some early upgrades.
Tossing up between Butters/ Serong/ LDU for the M3/4 position.
Errol and T Green are probably my priority inclusions after their byes.

Forward line is a guessing game currently. May roll the dice of Fyfe.
Watchlist: James Jordon, Cam Mackenzie (Haw), Caddy, Billings, Hayes

Really can't see where Billings fits in the Dees side or who moves out to accomodate him coming in. So many small half forward / mid rotation type options and can't see where he fits at the moment against the likes ofHunter, ANB, Sparrow, Laurie, Chandler, McAdam.
Similar with Windsor trying to earn a wing rotation against similar company plus Brayshaw and Langdon.

The $10,000,000 team ladies and gentleman!!!

Defence: Daicos, Sicily and Stewart appear to be a class above all else so starting with them seems like a no brainer to me. I almost started Young last season because his pin point kicking is just beautiful to watch and with all the hype around him this year, I can’t not start him now… Williams was my first picked player this year being a Carlton fan, he’s looking much fitter than previous seasons so I’m hoping he can score well early and be one of my final upgrades. At this stage, Gibcus looks like he’s worth the extra cash compared to the 123K guys with Coffield and Pink both appearing to be a 50/50 chance of playing round one… At least Z. Reid is looking like a definite starter for Essendon lol!

Midfield: Bont’s a no brainer, scored 110+ points in 20/23 matches (89, 101 & 107 were his other scores) last season so he’s a lock for VC/C each week. Splitting Dawson and Laird is something I’ve been struggling with for most of the preseason but the fact that Dawson can have a massive score and only touch the ball 20 times, compared to Laird having to accumulate 30 or so for a similar output is the deciding factor at this stage. Butters & LDU’s finishes to last season can’t be ignored and both are a sign that “the future is now”. I couldn’t care less about LDU being injury prone, when he could average 150 over the first month or so… I brought in Brayshaw after the byes last year and he dominated (avg of 116) so I’m hoping he carries that form from last year, especially considering how low his ownership percentage is. McKercher and Sanders selections speak for themselves and Roberts playing off half back is very appealing for me also. Hall/McAuliffe both had really good preseasons with Garcia also being spoken of highly.

Rucks: Gawn/Grundy locked and loaded, plain and simple. If Sweet or Naismith are named for round one, I’ll find a way to get them in but I’m not confident on either.

Forwards: Macrae just doesn’t seem worth it when you consider his end of season form, ongoing hamstring concerns and removal from the leadership group and sheesh does going cheaper in the forward line make the rest of the team look strong. Flanders is the only “premium” option up front that I’m confident will average 100+ he’s been training as a full time mid and dominated the back half of last season. The Fyfe hype is real for me this season, full time mid who’s looking as fit as ever, you’d be a brave man to leave him out of your side! Reid and MaCrae selections speak for themselves with Laurie and Jones both looking like a decent chance of playing round one but also playing in the midfield!!! Mannagh and Simpson both being spoken of highly from their perspective clubs as well.

Similar structure to where I am - Sicily I've dumped like many but I'm not adverse to starting him still. I'm struggling to see all the love for Short atm. Going back to his same role that he's never scored above a 98 average, I just don't see the bump in a role we've already seen him settled in.

I'm currently in a phase where I'm looking for that 4-5 season bump in players averages like butters, LDU, Serong and Newc. Serong at just 10% ownership could go another level.

I feel like Duursma and Watson aren’t great picks for their price. Job security should be fine but scoring output probably won’t be great playing predominantly forward.

Lazzaro or Windsor might be ok for the same price barring selection.

Could go down to a Laurie/Sexton and maybe upgrade Steele or Newcombe to an uber.
