I have this sinking feeling that the game has gone past me - my rankings fall away as the years progress. Partly that may be because of Ben's Beasts rule (new kid = bad SC year) but I also think I haven't adapted property to the changing rules. I have always traded aggressively and chased ceiling and value over security, and I think most people do that now because of the extra trades and so I've lost any edge from that, without gaining anything in return.
The injury carnage at the start of last year was next level. Too many popular picks were getting injured and it was a real crap shoot as to whether or not you would get hit with it. Your sig shows you finishing 538th the year before. Wish I could suffer those sorts of doldrums :D

Edit: I think your team looks refreshing by the way. Less cookie cutter with some risk and a few PODs.

Pretty gutsy call on Clarry. Never write off a champion and all but beware the dodgy pre-season. His hasn't been so flash, I'm told. Bont & English will either make or break your year but I've used enough words on that elsewhere.

Many are foregoing Macrae and I don't know if that's the best course. Only reason I don't have him atm is that I can't afford him with some of the other things I'm trying out. I don't think he will get out of price range real quick so he's not a must-have at the start. Reckon we might want him by the end though. Think he's a good pick.

The Fyfe call is killing me. I'm running with Rachele at the moment because I see Adelaide taking the next step this year and him being a big part of it, at least during early bye season.. But Fyfe at $283k and full time mid...

Ridley... Yeah I gave up on him either last year or the one before. Broke my heart too often. I know the hope seems to be that he will be freed up to take more of those intercept marks but if they were all they were cracked up to be we'd all have Lever and Moore in our teams. Brad Scott has had an entire year to show us he likes Ridley kicking out and has failed to do so. Had a 101 year and now 3 years in the 90s. Is 25 now so I suppose that's a good age for a tall back to step up a level but am yet to see any reason why he should.

I'm actually liking this team after a million and one versions being considered over the past 5 weeks or so, don't want anyone to rate it but would appreciate any honest feedback about how you feel about it because I value all your opinions.
I consider it a mostly guns and rookies team except for Wardlaw, I'm considering Martin a Gun in this circumstance. :)
Gulden +Grundy +Daicos is going to make r5 pretty rough, missing 1/4 of your premos. First thought is swap gulden out for someone similar (butters ldu serong green) just to diversify a bit, unless you see something in gulden the others are missing.

I did want English but Grundy creates other options , is Bont the man to have from the start ???? , is the Mids strong enough or do i need to be more creative , Defence is solid and Forwards weakest part of team at present , appreciate any thoughts
Bont, grundy, and better rookie beats English, Scottish Suitcase just

Pretty out of the loop this year so no doubt a fair way off the mark with my first try. Bont, English and Stewart are very un-me picks at their prices. Might be fighting too hard to avoid rd0 players. Interesting catch-up reading this morning on thoughts about the value of that.

Is there a prevailing view on how best to adapt to the extra trades, other than to just keep upping the ante of aggressive trading and finishing team as quickly as possible?
Rolling lockouts have killed me. I don't have time to properly manage rookie loops and captain loops.

Yze has said that Bolton will be playing more like Cyril used to, ie just 1 CBA a 1/4 and otherwise playing small forward, so I don't trust him to be worth it. I'd cut him and look for another mid premo personally, should be plenty of solid options around about that price point, or you can get up to 600+ for an Uber mid if you cut duursma/Watson to cheaper rookies.

His probably been best on today. Kicked 3 goals, probably 5-6 direct goal assists. By eye 20-25 possessions.

Hey Rusty

For me, I'm not a fan of that much money for the uncertainty of mid/ruck time for Jackson. I'd rather punt on a Fisher/Dusty type.

Not sure you're leaving enough spots for Sic, Stewart and Daicos after DPPs transfer Martin down there... What's your thinking?

Cheers

Hi Random, thinking was, and may be very flawed, Stewart is getting on a bit so I don't mind not starting him, Sicily with the news of Blanck going down, he might not be as prolific as expected. Could be totally wrong about Jackson but I think he could average over 100 this season even playing mostly forward, just a gut feeling but I think I'm willing to run with it, don't really have any confidence in Fisher and Dusty is a champ obviously but also getting long in the tooth, so I don't mind passing on him.

I am finding defender rookies in the 102k-124k range scarce. I know it is still early days but most of us will probably need one or two at least. The commentary I am seeing about the most likely early candidates makes me think they are borderline to play eg Hore and Coffield types. No doubt someone will turn up but maybe without that JS we like. Something to watch I think.

Should get two out of Coffield, Reid, Pink & Phillips.
