I'm wondering how much they help you win supercoach versus how hard they are to pick even if they show good early signs. Going from 90 to 100 or 100 to 110 is nice, but it seems like a minor reward. Even with a good start their price is swimming against the MN so they're unlikely to get away from non owners. I'm also thinking that even though they might already have a decent role they might not be at the top of the pecking order within their team. A change in pecking order could be considered a role change. Witherden would fit that criteria. I haven't looked into it but I've had a crack at a few in the past without much success. Do you have some previous examples in mind?
Petracca fit that middle category when he went from 81 to 117.
Connor Rozee was a 22yo AA fwd who jumped from 93 to 107.
Bont who was already a star and on the border of superstardom when he jumped from 104 to 114.
Serong going from 90 to 111. He was definitely seen as a young star before last year.
Tom Green went from 97 to 111. Another soon to be superstar.

There are plenty that don’t make the jump which is where the risk is, but these guys were all seen as the next generation and became keepers.

I won’t be surprised it Warner, Rowell, and Blakey are All Australians this year, and if all make then jump to top 10 in their line, but at this stage I’ve got none of them.

Given that ZWilliams is popular in many teams currently would it have any impact on coaches if he started the Rd0 game but was subbed off early in the 3rd quarter. Or even started as the sub? Carlton have some depth and they may take Zwilliams slowly. Possibly also managed minutes say 60% TOG? Just thinking where expectations meet reality.

But didn't they all have a role change or go up in the pecking order? I'm thinking more about your emphasis that a player already had a good role. Serong would have had less run with roles, Petracca, Rozee and Bont get more time around stoppages etc.

I guess it’s a watch list on what happens in the preseason to determine whether the role clearly gets even better, or the player takes a big step forward.
It may have been better framed as players who already are stars with a clear opportunity for a great scoring role. I’m trying to look at players who are already a star, like Rozee who was already an AA and superstar and got more time on ball, not players like Butters/Gulden who were good/damaging, but not already a star, their role just changed drastically so they become a star in the same they had a better role.

There are some players, like Blakey, who already have a great role and are stars who could score massive, but haven’t had that huge breakout scoring season yet.

Williams is ticking all the boxes at training atm. Think he is a must have, if subbed off first game would be just getting him some game time but won’t be a substitute candidate in the general season. He probably will start slowly but his role and proven scoring can see him making $150K fairly easily without the incoming injury to early.

Kozzie sucked me in last year, not again.
Kozzie looked real good, going to tear the comp apart one day, but still spends large chunk of the game deep forward.

Only just watched the first preseason game, didn’t notice the new ruck rule much. Gawn did look solid though.

Going to really miss Wogi and his preseason game write ups, looks like I’m going to have to watch every single game now.
