Not sure anyone is factoring in modern game rules and player management with perceived scoring, aka Concussion. Thats 1 week.

Yes, we cant control it as it is basically luck.

Round zero players, having played an extra game, more exposure to injury and already 5 ppg compromised, missing another game could end up being 10 ppg.

The high floor play is to avoid if possible.

Some good players ignored if going with this strategy.

Andrew Brayshaw (77): Bit worried about Brayshaw’s game today. Lined up a lot on the wing. Keeping a close eye next week but probably not in my side after this. Caleb Serong (89): was everywhere and looking like continuing on from last season. Tags will come, that’s my only concern. Nat Fyfe (45): dominated in the midfield for the two quarters he played with 22 disposals but no marks or tackles. Still a nice price at $491k, but the worry is the ceiling. Jordan Clark (97): very impressed with his game today. Roamed free around the D50 and also pushed up the ground with teammates looking for him. Need to consider him an option as D3-D4. Hayden Young (53): played midfield the first 2 quarters for 46 points then moved into defence, more so to give younger guys a run. He will play full time mid this year so I think we can lock him in
Matt Johnson (54): breakout could be on the cards here. Looked awesome, particularly in the first quarter. Maybe it’s Johnson more inside and Brayshaw some extra wing time but time will tell. Keen to watch him next week. Luke Ryan (91): did what he always does, racking up the ball and plenty of kick ins. Don’t hate the idea of him as a POD. Cooper Simpson (35): impressive and had good moments in the 2 quarters he played in. Concerning thing is he didn’t play in the first two quarters, which suggests he is not best 22 and would be in the mix as a sub. Elliot Yeo (78): looked awesome. Showed the burst of speed from congestion we haven’t seen for a while. Looks a great option provided he stays fit for us. Harley Reid (27): a bit quiet today. Played in defence and midfield. Went off with heavy cramp late in the 4th quarter. Maybe we temper expectations for his scoring as he still plays for a rebuilding team. Alex Witherden (58): not sure he’s an option anymore based on today. Jayden Hunt looks to be the guy taking the distributor role. Liam Duggan (65): played a mix of defence and midfield. Think he is a guy we look as an upgrade target. Reuben Ginbey (4)
: unfortunately went off during the 2nd quarter with a head knock, possible concussion. Other players: Jeremy Sharp: out today reportedly due to illness. Hopefully we see him next weekend to feel confident about him as an M8 option. Loch Rawlinson: keep an eye out for him as a potential Round 1 debutant at $200k MID/FWD. Played as a small forward so scoring won’t be there, but could be an option if we need him. Matt Flynn
: unfortunately has a hamstring tendon injury and will be out for a while. Coen Livingstone: could he be the $200k ruck we need at R3? Played backup ruck to Bailey Williams and with Matt Flynn injured, could get some games early. Comment below if you want my thoughts on other players from the game

There was an article I read that said Serong and Brayshaw wanted to better support their forwards by better transition, so they'd spend time on the wing gathering from half back pumping into the forward line. I don't think it's a bad thing.

It’s gone up a notch in terms of what we’re putting out there and going at each other you’ll see a harder team.”
Though Serong was the clear stand-out for the Dockers last season he has not rested on his laurels identifying how he can take his game to another level to help his side get back into finals.
“I think inside I’ve been really good with my hands but it’s on the outside that both me and Andy Brayshaw have been focusing on to help our forwards outs and be more damaging,” he said.
“Just getting on the same page as our forwards and making our disposals count more.”

Working out the middle Serong is looking forward to getting on the end of some silver service backing Luke Jackson and Sean Darcy to find their feet this season.
“I’m really excited as a midfielder you’ve got two superstar ruckmen that are playing 100 per cent of the minutes so has a mid it’s a dream,” he said.

I'm hoping Patrick Voss, the article states Simpson or Emmett.

There are a lot of small forwards putting their hands up Cooper Simpson who’s come in and had an impact straight away and has been doing really well,” he said.
“He’s really exciting and dynamic playing both in the midfield and I’m really looking to see what he can do against the opposition.”
“Tom Emmett played the last two games of the season and did really well bringing that forward pressure with his physicality.”

Hopefully we'll see all 3 in the pre-season game next week and can make a call from that :)

Hi All,

Does anyone have or know how I could access a player listing including basic information (SC position, 2024 SC Price, Club, prior season averages etc), in excel/CSV format?

Would be a great resource for planning the season ahead. Thanks!

Brayshaw has spent much more time on a wing this game - looks like he is the one impacted most with Fyfe in the middle. Serong/ Fyfe/ Young/ Darcy looks like Freo’s number 1 centre clearance combo
I doubt Fyfes body holds up to first choice mid rotations. Brayshaw will be in there once the real stuff starts. Wouldn't pay too much attention to what premos do in praccy matches.

😂

He isn’t soft lol

Not great today, will build from here 😉
Large squads, lots of different combonations for the line coaches to consider, and a low intensity training run, with the main objective, not to get a injury 2 weeks out from opening round.

Reid will be Fine, reckon he rotates off a wing and HB first year.

Per your comment on it being luck, concussion/injury risk doesn't bias against Rd 0 players at all. The existing potential point hit for starting a rookie in a best 18 round is factored in by most of us. You mention them playing an extra game - but that washes out by Rd 6 at the latest so by about 1/4 of the season, all clubs will have played the same number of games, and some even earlier. They're not playing an extra game over the season as a whole.

We should all get a better indictaction of roles over the next few weeks. What i have learn the past few years is not to be too concerned with your Premo player, they just blow a bit and do as little as possible to get ready for the real stuff. Rookies and your identified mid price options will be the ones to watch during the next few weeks.
