Can I get some thoughts on my side thanks? Any glaring issues or changes needed? Pretty happy with the structure so, aside from xerri at ruck.
I think it’s looking quite good overall, and have many similar players.

My main observations would be:

- I think your M2-4 carry meaningful game count risk that is probably being underestimated by some coaches

- If you looked at how many genuine premium seasons (top line scorers at strong game counts) your players have posted, it would be surprisingly low. I think only Bont and maybe your R1 would have >1 under their belt, and quite a few “keeper” picks arguably haven’t posted one yet. It does feel like there may be a bit of a changing of the guard occurring again, but I would consider tilting slightly to more proven options if you have a couple of lineball calls you are weighing up.

Good luck whichever way you go.

A lot of Hustwaite and hardly any Lazzaro. Is there a specific reason anyone is avoiding the guy that is 2 years older and cheaper? Also, Lazzaro has the DPP
Lazzaro has been the story of the preseason and has done everything right to put himself in contention for some more midfield minutes.

Personally I rate all of LDU, Wardlaw, Powell, Sheezel (will be mid at times), Greenwood & Phillips ahead of him for contested work. He does however bring a bit of speed to the midfield. Think there are rookies with more nailed roles personally but one to watch and might get first crack at it. I also have doubts over his disposal use. But can see why people are starting. One to watch over the first couple rounds.

I’ve tried to avoid making any rash changes to my team based on round zero, more so using it to lock in (or out) rookies!

It’s funny how things change so quickly, it wasn’t long ago that I was toying with 5 premiums and Williams down back and now it’s the line where I’ve spent the least money. Daicos selection speaks for its self, while Sheezel and Young both provide value and should be top in the top 10 come seasons end. Williams, Howes & Gibcus cemented themselves in my squad last week, albeit the later of the three on the bench. Coffield & Reid round out the rookies but Phillips may squeeze Reid out if he’s named.

Decided to stop fluffing around with the 490-590K picks and pay up for the big guns instead. Bont picks himself, Dawson is ultra reliable and has numerous different avenues of scoring, Butters ankle injury is a slight concern but they wouldn’t risk him against west coast if he wasn’t 100% ready to go. Can’t believe LDU is a POD now, obviously there’s injury concerns but he’s also capable of consistently posting huge scores. I can’t ignore Green, even with his bye, as he could be the number one player in the game this year. Rookies are pretty stock standard I would think. Hustwaite the only one I’m unsure on but if he’s named, he’ll likely be starting at M8 for me.

Gawndy has been locked and loaded all preseason but I wouldn’t mind Marshall in my side if funds permit… Hopefully a Phillips type gets up for round one, allowing me to move Gawn to Marshall. No Naismith means Livingstone has found himself back in my team.

Jackson should dominate the first month or so without Darcy and not having an early bye really makes him hard to resist although he’ll likely be leaving my side if Reidy is named tomorrow. Fisher playing the seagull road becomes a lock, while Fyfe and Jordon both provide plenty of value at their prices. Reid & Sexton at F5/6 are no brainers and Campbell has done enough to enter my team as well, assuming he’s not the sub. The 47K in the bank will likely be consumed on upgrading Mannagh but I’ve got no idea on who yet…

Ideally I’d like to find a way to get Heeney and to a lesser extent Flanders in my side but for now, they just miss out…

Thanks to everyone for the support and advice!

I’m looking forward to the season! :)

Think you're running a bit too deep in the midfield, would rather field Sanders over one of Wilson/Coffield/Gibcus. Shifting one of your mid premiums to a Flanders/Heeney or a Sheezel type could work. Forward bench is a little thin as well, would try and get them to some rookies with better job security like a Cadman or paying up for a Lazzaro or Windsor.

Having a good supercoach year doesn't change the fact you still have to work, go to school, pay bills, clean the dishes, mow the lawn, do your homework, look after your sick parents, get the car fixed, pick up dog poo etc, etc.
It's an interest but it's not all it's cracked up to be.

decided to take out lazarro hustwaite and windsor for a campbell mannagh(maybe cadman instead?) and sharp so i could have fisher and jordan in. feel like picking the rookies that played r0 for that early price rise and then potentially trading them(based on performance) for a more premium rookie could be a good idea? with the 40 trades feel like could go a bit more aggressive early on to generate some cash

the choice of cheaper rookies are still undecided but just a framework at the moment

what do you guys think?
My defence and mid is identical to yours. I have gawn instead of English. Fyfe instead of Jordan. Looks like it's me vs you for the 50k

Merry Christmas to all!

Few musings / rationale on PODS whilst we now wait for teams:
Salem - Bowey injury muddies the waters a bit however looks to have had first clear run in 3 years. (knees/thyroid). There was elements of the "Docherty" role there last week.
Happy to have 2 rookies on field in defense - I'm more bullish on Coffield than others on here it seems (dog fans). Think he provides balance to our defense and will be best 22. Bramble looks like coverage for Dale, suspect JOD eventually comes in for Duryea or Khamis.
Sam Berry - structurally I want him/lyons/bonner at M6. 87 in his 2nd year, albeit alot has changed in that crows midfield since.
Fwds - might be too deep given the rookie strength - but kinda o***et via swans, suns & giants early byes.

Some changes due to Injuries, which required a little reshuffle. Biggest changes to the FWD Line after injuries to some key swans players and the injury to Darcy.

Wines is the POD, no hint of any soft tissue injury during preseason, loved his role in the trail game which supported the news out of PA, and is i believe 17pts under his value as a Inside Mid. All this combined with a magnificant early draw gets him into the team ahead of Touk.

Enjoy the Year Coaches.
