Between him and Draper… agree, neither are that compelling but it’s not a bad time to clear deadweight…. Don’t want to trade into more deadweight though…!
Been looking at Draper but not sure on JS ...

- I have him with a projected BE -25 for next round ...

Have you looked at Hore ...

- Hore ~$148k with an approx BE 20
- scores: 60, 12 (started as sub), 52 ...

BE isn't great but JS ?? might not be too bad ...

Can you hold out until DPP additions? Not ideal to have dead spots but if the current crop is questionable you risk using a trade to get them in and then a trade to get them out for minimal return.

Anyone have a view on T Brown? Had a pair of 60s which isn’t too bad. More interested in checking his JS… Grimes to come back in…?
I'd say with Trezise injured he's fairly safe, even with Grimes due back.
He plays tall & is a very good user, couple of bullets hitting targets at vital times today.
Safe bench option

Hore seems questionable with JS I think. May to come back, does he survive that?

That’s the other option - although strategically, Z Reid will come back as a DG option in 4-5 weeks so may be better to flip him now to bring in a cash maker (so Reid can come back in as a DG option).

Downgrade options looking a little thin

Outside of Defenders which I really want to be an area of upgrades, we have Darcy and maybe Hustwaite (subject to going well) if we go early next week. Defenders are Brown or Draper (decent 2nd score) and maybe Mulin at Geelong.

Assuming there is no rookie who has played three games who was dragged down by a sub role in game one (Carroll technically is this but scored to well as a sub).

This not owning Heeney thing is no fun at all. I hate paying top dollar for picks like this as I know I'll be let down in the long run.

Out: Fisher & Sexton
In: Heeney & Rookie (probably Darcy)
Heeney for one week?

Does anyone know what factors have allowed Jordan Clark's increased scoring this season? Is there any reason to believe it might continue?
Hayden Young > mids, and yes a higher level of scoring is sustainable, but at this level, IDK. Very much a pod, but I reckon that is just because not vic based and people not wanting 7 Freo players in their team.

I don't like these type of plays, three good scores against 3 average looking teams, typical thing I would ignore.

However, thought may as well look at the data, as I had heard Ryan kicks it a lot to Jordan.

Well, as Randomcliche mentioned, Young into mids is factor which looks about right, so why don't we see how he went last four games of 2024 when Young played mids.

He scored 106, 96, 114 and 88, see knew he would be crap.......hang on.......wait..........what!

Just over 100 in those 4 games for an average of 100.3 vs current average of 115.

His DE has been 88-89% in all three games this year, maybe that could regress against better teams. His 88 and 96 in those 4 games were against Brisbane and Port last year so does suggest he regresses against quality teams.

Either way he does look better than his 82 ave of 2023, wouldn't lock in 115 however, 100-108 possible. Just goes to say look at the data and ignore prior biased opinions, worked for Powell last week.

If we assume Sheezel, Ryan, Daicos, Sicily and Stewart are top 5 defenders, then probably room for one value play. McGovern has injury risk, Houston a little soft, Andrews key position, Whitfield slightly more expensive and probably averages more.

How would you tackle this defence? Traded Young to Windhager last week so I was able to grab Powell and McKay. Windhager now suspended and will mean a donut which I will not allow this early in the season. Planning to trade Billings to Darcy, which will leave about 215k ITB

Would take Hore or Draper …..swap Them out for Coffield…. means you can still use Reid to get a first look at emergency score each week

Heeney for one week?
If he averages 120 for the season then missing one match in a best 18 round doesn't bother me as he'll likey be a must have clear F1.

My lingering concerns are his price and the certainty of his role given that Adams, Parker & eventually Mills will be coming back into the midfield mix. I think Parker plays more forward, in Heeney's role, and Mills may be used on a wing to ease his body back into footy.

I also think that as a coach if I have a player who's dominating & near on leading the Brownlow count right now (and more importantly the team is winning) then why change a winning formula?

If I find someone to take down to Darcy, I can get Jordon up to probably anyone under $600k using the cash from Berry this week.

I'd love a top defender, but with Daicos, Houston and Sheezel already there and spaces 'saved' for Ryan and Stewart there's only a D6 slot left.

So maybe I slot Touk Miller into M5 and wait for the DPP to shore up the backline
