For the first time all season I am really torn on my trades this week so very open to suggestions.

Current team :-

View attachment 71547

Cash ; $74,900

McKercher > Graham is the only trade locked in.

Combden has looked very good last 2 weeks & could be a possible F6 if he stays fit with that intercepting marking role he has. The simple move is Campbell > Comden.

Have contemplated moving Jackson on with Sean Darcy returning this week, no doubt Jackson will be impacted but WCE have historically given up big points to rucks/ Darcy might be eased back in also. By going Jackson > Combden it allows me to get Steele to add to my super premium mids then & look at adding Walsh next week if he looks great again. Could take a risk in going early on McAuliffe (tigers decimated by injury) which would allow me to get Miller but not Steele/ then Walsh next week.

Want to hold Sanders as I feel he goes well tonight with no Libba & if he gets DP then very handy to move into my fwds. Sam Darcy the other one obviously which is a real factor for ruck cover if I move Jackson on.

Appreciate any suggestions on this (y)
Lobb named is annoying as i feel he will take some ruck time as well, so Darcy may not get DPP

An option could be
Out: McKercher, Carroll and Dempsey
In: Graham, Garcia/McAuliffe and Steele (via Wilson)

Powell over Dempsey could allow Comben over a rookie pre bubble.

Just a couple of things to think about, McAuliffe will more than likely go out once Hopper and/or Prestia are back, Hopper is a chance in the next game, if not then the week after which is the same week that Prestia is due back, he's one that I would definitely wait on and see what eventuates in round 8 ie: whether he makes the cut or not. I'm not sure that Sam Darcy will be used for any sort of ruck cover unless there's an injury to one of the main rucks, he'll be traded once he reaches his peak which should be before the MBR's

Was going two down and decided on McKercher and Burgess to Clohesy & Graham then looked at the possibility of one up as I really need to be upgrading.

Considered Yeo, Steele, Bolton, Flanders and finally Walsh.

Decided on Jordon to Walsh, not concerned with it being his second game he passed the eye test to me and as a Carlton fan I will really enjoy barracking him home in my team.
I try to not have blue bias in my selections but Sam is an exception.

Really torn between:
Fyfe>Garcia
Sanders>Walsh

Or

No trades.

Trading could give a jump getting in Walsh who everyone will get next week if he goes big again. No trades lets Sanders grow a bit and gives another look at Walsh’s back and also at Drury and Bigoa who may be better options than Garcia.

Agressive vs conservative - can’t decide!

The flip side is Sanders is sub or gets subbed again stagnating his cash gen for another 2 weeks (and potentially losing cash).

I think if you can upgrade this week without compromising other positions, it’s definitely worth it.

Thanks for the responses - think I am going to play the long game & go McKercher > Graham, 1 of Campbell/Carroll/Sanders (if sub) > Combden. Keep the cash flowing in for future upgrades with Walsh still at the same price next week, Petracca will be at a nice price in a few weeks also.

Thinking of using my third boost to go two down and one up to a Premo...with 18 scoring this round, is it best to wait and save the boost?

At the moment tossing up between these three options (I traded in Clohesy last week):

1. McKercher / Campbell / D'Ambrosio > Graham / Comben / Luke Ryan

2. McKercher / Campbell / J. Carroll > Graham / Comben / Yeo or Hayden Young

3. McKercher / Campbell / J. Carroll > Bolton or Zorko

Option 1 - Jumps early on D'Ambrosio but gets me an ultra-premo in defence, capable of weekly 130+ based on form.
Negative is that I'm getting Ryan at an ultra-premo price of $653k, but he could end up at $700k+ the way he is going.

Option 2 - Addresses all of my rookie issues in McKercher (high BE), Campbell (BE = ave.) and Carroll (regular sub-candidate with Walsh back in the side), and brings in the hot hand in Yeo as a MID/DEF at a still relatively low price. Negative is obviously Yeo's history, and his score last week was against a depleted Richmond, so is this too risky and just chasing points? Will Yeo do enough rest of season to be D4-D6? Is Hayden Young a better option here via Daicos, knowing that he will get DPP? So many questions...

Option 3 - Same as Option 2 but bring in Bolton or Zorko as a premo upgrade in the FWD line. Negative is that either Bolton or Zorko seem to have a low floor, especially Bolton playing in an injury-affected side and too reliant on goals to get his scoring?

Done a little interesting comparison on team value from this year compared to prior years for my team and have found it very interesting.

2024 - $12,363m
2023 - $11,485m
2022 - $11,903m
2021 - $11,125m
2020 - $11,399m

Think this may have to do with the amount of trade I've used to this point as well.

2024 - 11
2023 - 6
2022 - 4
2021 - 4
2020 - 11

Is this consistent with what others are seeing with cash gen being higher for their team this year? The extra trades used is a part of it but thinking this means we might be able to finish our teams quicker than normal.
2020 is the outlier for me, was a shocking year when my team came back in week 2. outside of that, consistent value is $11.7m-$12.1m between 2018-2024.

This year feels crazier on trades used without a lot of injuries, lots of rookies being traded for $75k rather than $150k gains. 10 used this year and same for last year. at least we started with 4 more. prior to 2023, trades used were 1-6, mostly 4-5.

I would say the variation is more specific to yourself.

H Garcia could be the best of the lot if he avoids the vest.
what's your thinking here Ben please, if Garcia not sub.

Garcia - great performance given sub, excellent junior numbers.
Bigoan - back up performance in preseason. Dawson out for two games which doesn't help us next week, high ceiling.
Drury and McAulliffe feel a wait.

What does :-

McKercher - > Graham
Windsor - > Comben do ?

Enough cash to do something with Carroll ?

Surely Draper can just stay @ D7 , might be a very slow burn , but at least he is a warm body
It's a fair point. I am not really too short on warm bodies, but I am short on players who will earn points and make money.

McKercher is likely to drop cash, hence in the firing line. Longer term he still has cash to make, so it depends on my mind term view of my team.

Carroll, in spite of last week, has a BE of sub 50, so theoretically could still kick on. Draper I don't see making much cash, or being useful from a points perspective, so moving him on I can justify, even if taking him only made me 45k.

I want to bring in 1 "premo" this week as a minimum, just can't work out whether there is one or more must have rookies (or even mid pricers). Graham I have as a must take (and needs to replace a defender so I can swap with Daicos (who ended up in the mids when I brought Clohesy in last week). So either Reid, Windsor or Howe goes.

Then in the mids Carroll and Clark need to go. And in the forwards Campbell and Windsor. Operation Rectify Team is looking to be a multi week job!!

Thinking Garcia looked right at home when he came on as sub and if he can avoid being the starting sub or subbed out then he has the potential to score well. Hopefully he would be given midfield minutes just as he was when he came on against the Giants.
