Lots of Macrae chat but for pretty much the same price you could get Caldwell. Currently 10th ranked on 5 rnd avg, still young so some upside and lower injury risk, seems to have a settled spot in Essendons mid, won't give the roller-coaster scores that KPFs will. Maybe not the sexiest pick but has the potential to do a job for a very good price in what is increasingly looking like a tough to fill forward line

so who are you downgrading to this week then

arent many options
It's rough out there in the rookie streets I will grant you. Riley Garcia looks the best of all of them judging from last round's performance, but if you take him this week there is literally no one for next week at this stage outside of Laurie who was dropped after his first game (says something about his JS).

At some stage going early on a rookie will bite you, as the McAuliffe owners have now found out, that's the other thing to this.

At this stage in terms of JS I will take H Garcia and Drury (terrible role, terrible team considered) over Riley for this week. Thing is though we get to see Bailey Laurie for free tomorrow night. If he looks really good and undroppable I think you can probably go early on Riley Garcia. Laurie was a pre-season standout for the Dees so fingers crossed he shines in the spotlights his second chance at it.

Both Dogs and Bombers mids are a turnstile in terms of CBAs, Dons with more players to return for that area. Both picks could work out/fail. Just no surety to either of them. Won't knock anyone for going either.

looks like anyone doing a double downgrade would need to go biggie/hugo garcia(depends on who you went for last week) and then go early on riley garcia i guess?

slim pickings
Hamill possibly , $ 144,100.00 though

Think he came in for Parnell

Has some decent numbers previous seasons but has had a number of concussion concerns/injuries

Perkins and Setterfield likely to impact him. Shiel may come in the side, but end up moving magnets rather than take the role from him.

Thoughts on Tunstill?
I've got some thoughts on post #105 on this thread (I like him, role is poor but he's versatile, job security should be fine until Bailey is back, don't think he'll be sub over Lyons personally)

I'll probably be grabbing him (already got HGarcia/Nyuon lol)

Not having to go early on McAullife means we can at least see teams for remaining games of the round (unless need to do something involving ESS/COLL players etc) so we can see if Tunstill is sub (unlikely) or someone like Mullin returns to the team.

Thanks. Not sure I want Biggy, expect North to swing the axe at selection. Not going early on anyone, can see future problems. Leaves Tunstill really!

Locked in

Mckercher & Sanders
To
Hugo and Walsh

Gives me another look at Riley Garcia and possibly Naismith if he puts in another good show. If Nyuon is named - I might take a punt on him for money in the bank.

Any idea why Tunstill did not get used at all as sub in round 5 against the Demons? Makes me think he's not rated very highly if the coach did not want to use his fresh legs at any point.

start which rookie, howes or t brown? howes might get more of the ball with salem out. t brown might be less accountable with some of the richmond key defenders back

We'll see how Walsh fares with Cerra back in too. I doubt it'll influence his scoring that much but his injury history scares me. From here I reckon Walsh & Tracc score similarly, although I'm happy to spend 50k more for the peace of mind of Tracc's injury insurance if there can be such a thing.

Regarding Andrew, I'm taking the punt. Helps to get an Ambrosio or Zilliams off field who have been a rollercoaster so far. I'll take slightly sub premo scoring from Andrew from here until his bye before I need to make another decision on him.
Nice. I'm rolling with Dawson and Daicos. Wish you well with Mac Andrew.

Great observation, hadn’t noticed that.

That game was a thursday night and it appears Tunstill played a full VFL game that weekend. Maybe didnt want to impact his match fitness by playing one quarter only. No injuries in the game, Zac Bailey played to near end so must have been a very late injury to him.

What I found interesting is what Bevo said in his post match presser "I think we might have found a role for him" He doesn't rely on CBA's for his scoring, more as a follower and link up player in transitions. Ed Richards took all of Libbas CBA's in the last match with Macrae's being fairly consistent.
So he has found a role for Macrae, the same one he has played for the last 3 seasons. Ok Got it.

Very tempting at his price, means missing out on either Dawson or Walsh. Want to save my boost for the bye period.

The truly frustrating this about McAuliffe being omitted is that I'm $1k short of going Willams + Sharp to Walsh and Nyuon (or other similarly priced downgrade). McAuliffe being $6k cheap was a huge benefit on planning out my trades that I've now lost!
So now the equation is do a I boost in a second average downgrade to get Walsh, or stick to the 2 trade plan and get either Macrae or Dawson.

Leaning towards Macrae given the bar for success is lower in the forward line and so the risk is less, if Dawson reverts to poor form it's a big issue where as I feel I can work around a Macrae reversion without it hurting to the same extent.

Something to ponder over the next couple of days.
