Roberts is the rookie in the equation. It’s only his second season and first full season. Prob will tire as the year goes on. And he’s taking up a prime premium spot in your team. This year the points are in the mids and defenders. Not the forwards.
But what makes Powell so special? He’s had 3 seasons of poor averages (67.7, 55.9, 55.9) and has already demonstrated this season a reversion to previously inconsistent scoring patterns. With the multitude of DPP players it doesn’t really matter that he’s a forward because by trading him I move Reid to my forward line. Many others would be in a similar position too. But regardless, a guy who might play mid but might go forward isn’t going to be as reliable as a guy who is playing a lucrative HB role very well. And doesn’t matter if he gets tired cause neither is a season hold so they’ve gotta go sometime.. but Roberts looks the better and more reliable scorer for mine.

You leak more points holding Roberts in your midfield or defence than Powell up forward is what im saying.
Powell has had one bad game the rest acceptable. If he goes at 80 for the next 8 games that’s likely going to be as good as you’re going to get from F5-6 anyway.

Sweet makes $90k this week if he scores 85.
I think you’ve got to bite the bullet here this week otherwise you’re letting almost $100k go out the door for a trade you think you might make next week
Oops sorry, more context obviously needed...

I went early on Sweet and already have him at R3. Just weighing up moving out Grundy to get the points onto the field.

Set on holding Powell as long as Phillips is dropped, Simpkin also in doubt. If he plays HF then cop loss and deal next week.

Dempsey>Dawson
Cadman>Rogers
Steele>Moore/Fyfe

Steele not training again, cbs sitting through this torture like last year. If hes fine then can look at him later given he has almost 200 b/e.

Next week targeting butters before his geelong/hawks/north run

If Steele is rested for 1 week is that worth a trade? in the past id say no but now with 40 trades its probably worth flicking then bringing back later if he shows form

So no one going Parish at under 500k?
Think id rather him than Merrett at 650k who has never averaged over 116 for a season.

Probably Dempsey>Sweet via dpp & Powell>Dawson or Laird for me then Parish next week (sucks paying probs 30k more).
Mamma mia I gotta no Boosta left:eek:

Just about locked in is:
Bonner > Bont
Cadman > Sweet

Weighing up between:
Comben > Rogers
and
Steele > Dale

Comben > Rogers is the more traditional approach. Don't love the Rogers pick. Obviously has the 98 for two price cycles, his first one isn't fully capitalised due to the 28 that is paired with it. Other than the North game, he doesn't have a great upcoming run where I can see an 80+ type score to restart his cash gen when the 98 falls out. Think he goes at 50-60, JS will be good (a rest has been hinted though) but don't see him scoring that great. We can't overlook the 28. Also fills up my M9-11 with all MID only players along with Clark and McAuliffe.

On the other side of the trade, Comben has a great matchup in St Kilda, and I could very easily see him restarting his cash gen. He has shown a ceiling so I kind of want to persist, and he's not a terrible on field option if required.

Steele > Dale is the more modern and risky approach that I'm leaning towards. Have lost all my faith in Steele. He's shown multiple times in the past that he will play through injuries and his scoring will suffer severely. He had a LOT of strapping on that knee last week and had absolutely zero the weeks prior. Had 15 disposals and 10 contested possessions. His outside game was clearly hampered by the knee injury. Just by watching the game, you could easily tell he was injured. He lacked the speed out of contest that he possessed in the first 5 rounds. I can either sell now when he has 600k attached to him or I can hold off until his bye when I'll upgrade him at a much lower price point as I can't envision him being a top 10 MID anymore. It makes sense to me to trade him now.

I see Dale as a D7. I believe I'm getting a D7 at 457k to score at ~100. He does look like he wants to prove a point after the starting sub incident, and he couldn't have responded any better. Richards will head back to defence unless Bevo keeps him in the midfield (it is Bevo...) which will somewhat revert Dale's scoring back to where it should be, but I'm hoping that motivation can give me a bit of a sugar rush before returning to his regular scoring rate. Slightly nervous of a Maginness tag this week but I'm expecting Libba to cop it.

If I go through with the Steele > Dale trade my team looks like this with $57,700 in the bank:

Pretty happy with it. Have a team value of $13,305,800 which looks great, although I feel it gives me a false indication of where my cash gen is at because a lot of my premiums are at their peaks, particularly in defence.

Currently have exactly 4 premiums on each bye except Round 15 which has 5. Grundy may go next week allowing Sweet to move to R2, moving my number of Round 12 premiums down to 3.

I'm finding it very hard to find players who have the Round 12 and 13 byes that I'd like to upgrade to after their bye. For Round 12 potential targets I have Whitfield, Dunkley, Neale, Gulden, LDU, Zorko, Greene. Basically all of them are that tier below. Whitfield shaping up as the prime candidate right now which would move Dale to D7 and complete my defence. For Round 13 potential targets I have Young, Clark, Butters, Rozee, Brayshaw. Other than Butters once again all of them are that tier below. Means I'll be holding off from Butters despite the incoming price drop.

Sorry if I wasted your time, I waffled on for longer than I wanted to. Appreciate any advice or feedback.
I agree with your assessment that most of those R12 and 13 names look a tier below at this stage, but I reckon at least 1 or 2 will look top tier by the time we get there.

There is some great pedigree, as well as some talented up and comers, on that list - a niggle here, a role change there and that list may be looking more prospective in six weeks or so.

Most likely getting rid of one of Steele/Marshall or both.

Marshall with a bum knee doesn't help, given he's not the tap ruckman that Witts/Gawn/Darcy are.

Steele is a looming red flag. Didn't train with the main group and coming off two sub-par performances. His only saving grace is that 3 of his last 13 kicks have been effective, which is not a statistic that will last forever, but with a BE of 190 at 600k, it might be time to jump off a sinking ship.

One game. Would need to see more first to see if he is back to his best form

Feeling a bit lost this week. Need to get Sweet in, but I haven't made any real movement in weeks and my team feels a bit weak... any thoughts appreciated.

Forward and defense are solid and plenty of rookie depth so I'd look for adding midfield grunt. Probably have to wait on Gawn and use Xerri to fund mid upgrades.

Xerri -> Sweet
Roberts -> Serong/Merret
Dempsey/Cadman -> best mid you can then afford. (parish?)

Move Reid on field into mids.

Just looking at your team, I think the trade priorities based on BEs and positional scarcity would be Cadman, Dempsey and then Brown.

Just spitballing ideas but perhaps Cadman -> Sweet (via Livingstone DPP), Dempsey -> Rogers and Brown up to a premium mid (I have Serong front of mind with the Richmond fixture + favourable bye) via Graham DPP.

Looking at the 2 trades this week, save my final boost for now.

Out - Bramble & xx
In - Sweet & Green

xx will be either Lyons or Powell depending on named teams.

Sweet will be parked at R3, hopefully until Rd13.
With the E on Sweet, very tempted to use a boost and go Marshall to Rowell if Sweet goes 100+ against ROB.
