Probably should bring in Green

D Cameron (1 week rental) - > Sweet (cash cow @ R3)
Campbell - > Rogers
D'Ambrosio - > Green

Leaves onfield rookies :-

Clohesy , Roberts , Graham
Wilson , Rogers (covering Rozee)
Reid (hopefully F6 keeper) , Cadman/Comben

Hopefully upgrade Cadman/Comben next round

Need a defensive down for Brown before he starts losing dollars

Not sure if H Garcia has $ 100k + in him
Leaves me now looking :

SHEEZEL , HOUSTON , DAICOS * , Clohesy * , Roberts * , Comben * / Brown , Reid

WALSH , BUTTERS , GREEN , BONT , STEELE , ROZEE , Powell * , Graham * / Rogers , Garcia * , Clark

ENGLISH , MEEK / Sweet

HEENEY * , FLANDERS * , JACKSON * , J CAMERON , Reid * , Cadman / Wilson * , Livingstone *

Hopefully get a viable downgrade option for Round 9 then be able to upgrade Comben (most likely to Sicily or Stewart) & Cadman (most likely to Petracca or wait for Gulden/Neale , Oliver 🤔)

No Rowell , Serong , Merrett , Miller will continue to hurt if they maintain their current scoring.

Amazing to see Yeo sitting at 9th on averages for mid eligible players so far.

milk Clohesy & Graham as long as possible until Sweet peaks in price.

Wilson's cash to upgrade Meek and most likely Powell eventually.

Just have to fix it round by round , bit by bit.

dawson or laird?
I asked the same question in the X v Y thread.

It all comes down to whether Nicks is true to his word where he said he had coached poorly in the first part of the season and that he should be playing his best players in their best positions (who'd have thunk?)

Laird back to his most productive spot as an inside mid will rack up the contested possessions should see him back to his best. Dawson playing outside as the 1st or 2nd receiver, as well as utilising his defensive skills when the Crows don't have the ball, plus his ability to link up in transitions including being involved in intercept marking and being that player that can assist in getting the ball from turnovers from that long kick down the line get's him back to his best. His DE has improved on the back of having a bit more freedom when playing more outside rather than just bombing it out of congestion. My only knock would be that he's playing more as a winger.

In answer to your question, I'm leaning towards Laird because he may be back to that sweet inside mid role where he excels. FWIW I'm waiting a week to see that it actually happens as his BE is high enough that he won't hurt too much cash wise.

Got a good run ahead. Would be a real nice POD, but has been inconsistent in the past.

I have traded Merrett in this week on the basis of Essendon's draw in the next 7 games they play.
Worth flagging that Merrett’s average against some of the weaker teams of the last few years is “only” low 120s. I think his best score was around 146.

I expect the draw helps him, but maybe not as much as some.

I'm doing the same although a little wary that Yeo may go to him this week.

I was going Powell > Moore and Williams > Laird, but that would mean missing out on Rogers and depleting my bank which hinders further upgrades. Now going Cadman > Rogers and Williams > Merrett, leaves $135k ITB which gives plenty of options with a Comben > Jones downgrade the week after. Gotta just keep that upgrade cadence going.

Any thoughts on Andrew McGrath?
I feel like he’s really benefiting from Brad Scott’s coaching. He has become a more reliable defender - most noticeably he attacks the ball more and there are less ‘get out of jail’ dump kicks that are immediately turned over. I don’t know if I’d be comfortable bringing him in as a Top 8 defender, but he is playing the best football I’ve seen him play.

Forward and defense are solid and plenty of rookie depth so I'd look for adding midfield grunt. Probably have to wait on Gawn and use Xerri to fund mid upgrades.

Xerri -> Sweet

Roberts -> Serong/Merret

Dempsey/Cadman -> best mid you can then afford. (parish?)

Move Reid on field into mids.

Just looking at your team, I think the trade priorities based on BEs and positional scarcity would be Cadman, Dempsey and then Brown.

Just spitballing ideas but perhaps Cadman -> Sweet (via Livingstone DPP), Dempsey -> Rogers and Brown up to a premium mid (I have Serong front of mind with the Richmond fixture + favourable bye) via Graham DPP.

Cadman to Sweet, Brown to Rogers/McAuliffe/Garcia, Dempsey to Dawson if you have boosts and like Dawson.

Xerri > Sweet

Dempsey > Walsh

Cadman > Laird via Wilson to the forwards

Would leave you fielding Roberts at M8, Reid at F5 and Wison at F6
Thanks all! Lot to chew on. I'm tempted by Dawson, quite like him. Reticent to trade out Xerri as I got him in last week but if it's the best option then I'll do it. 4 great options here - gotta work out the best way to go now!

Sweet?
My rucks are Gawn (107BE), Grundy (76BE) and Naismith (-66BE).

I am planning on skipping Sweet due to these 3.

Does anyone have some opinions to the contrary?

Grundy's BE could be as high as 150 next round as his 158 in R6 rolls out. What he is now is close to his peak price for the time being.
If it is mainly price changes driving your decision. You may not need Sweet TBH as Naismith is doing that job for you kind of.

My Rucks are Gawn/English/Finbar. I can get Sweet via any number of options including DPP's but my team looks really **** with a $150 ruck at R3, and a donut at F8. So I am not getting Sweet. Ins this week will be Rogers/Riley Garcia/Oliver. Cover on all lines bar Ruck and plenty of cash cows, just not Sweet.

Going Sharp Dempsey and Marshall to Sweet,Green and Rogers, keeping faith in Powell for one more week, I can can move him to a Petracca/Mckay the week after worst case scenario.

Partially considering Mckercher over Rogers given I've already got a lot of exposure to Gold Coast in Flanders, Touk, Berry, Clohesy and Graham and Rogers had a low score first up so not sure about what he will score from week to week.. Gold Coast have the last game of the round so it makes it hard to do anything if he's sub as well.

I have Naismith and would consider moving him on for Sweet if I was able to afford some other trades that I was happy with. I think Sweet is going to make a lot of cash and is a very good option

Put Maley at F8 and grab Sweet. Could easily be $400k by the byes.

If Naismith is omitted this round and was only included last week due to matchups, do you intend to hold him at the expense of Sweet?
I gather Gawn is a keeper and weekly captaincy option, so his breakeven should hold no relevance.
As for Grundy, his current breakeven should not be used as a compelling argument to avoid Sweet, since the 158 will exit price cycle next round and given their respective price points.

Do you own Jackson/fwd-ruck in the fwd line and do you view Grundy as a top ruck (ie pushing close to that 115 range)? Do you have many loopholes or deadwood rookies? Could the cash released by a Grundy trade assist in moving volatile rookies off the field, as part of a double upgrade using a boost?

That's not correct. Swallow was sub m both of Rogers's matches, subbed on for Read and Humphrey respectively.
Apologies fixed, I'll admit that that I thought that score of 28 was sub affected, I'll say after knowing more information that I'm unsure what he'll score from week to week but I didn't get to catch much of the game against Eagles to know what if anything changed, would appreciate anyone's insight on this.

I wouldn't be too concerned about having too much money in the bank because it will get used, I had a bunch of dough left over last week and I got Dawson, Walsh and Garcia in for Ambrosia, Williams and Dempsey.
Regarding Rogers, is anyone concerned with his score in his first game? 28 from 76% game time. Maybe last week was an anomaly/ Adrenaline game? What if he scores 28 this week. Could be wrong as frequently am but I'm gonna pass.
He is a pass for me based on that first game…..
Cant afford to bring in risky Rookies for $148k…..whilst his score was amazing last week think his median score sits somewhere in between both scores….
Garcia even a miss from me purely because of the Bevo factor….

Would love everyone's opinion if Fyfe is a Top 6 fwd keeper ?
I don't have him atm and feel it's now or never.
The way he played last weekend would be a definite. Better investment than Macrae I'm thinking?
Cheers for your advice
keeper for mine….at least on current forwards scoring….
chance to be the Ziebell of 2023 for us…although having missed $140k price rise is he absolute top value for you right now? That is the question….
