I have now been informed that you can have multiple AE's in your team for each position eg. if 2 running backs are out or score 0 you get an AE for both from your bench in that position. Is that right?
In that if you put the C on a non playing player in your line-up (so you get the VC score) do you then get an AE from the bench for that position
eg: You have 3 x RB's playing with a non playing captain. Does an AE then substitute for the non playing VC so that you have 4 playing RB's.
I hope this is understood. If not I will try to explain again

If two players from the same position do not score then yes, as I understand it, both bench scores will count.
If only one on-field player does not score then, as @Killerbees has posted, the lowest bench score is the one used.
N.B. A DNP is different to a "0" score. A DNP is for a player who either doesn't play at all or for a player who takes the field but is not involved in any scoring play. e.g. Rice last week.
There was a WR a couple of years ago who played a whole game, without injury, and was targeted about 7 times but did not catch any of the passes. He was listed as a DNP because he was not involved in any scoring play.
If your "vc" plays and scores well you can then put the "c" on a non-playing player. The "vc" will count as your captain and the lowest bench score in the same position as your "c"will be used as substitute for your non-playing 'c".
Note that if any player, including your "c", does take the field and is involved in scoring plays that add up to a "0" then that remains their score. Your "c" ends up 2 x 0 = 0.
Hard to believe but it has happened: a WR catches a pass and makes 15 yds = 4 points. He then is tackled and loses the ball = -4 points.
Total points on the play = 0.
He then takes no further part in the game. The "0" still stands.
