I hadn’t heard of Khan a week ago, now he’s my captain! Better hope the VC comes off 🙂
It’s a good question re trades:
- It seems counterintuitive to trade out a Melbourne player given they have a return double, but equally picking a round 1 SGR player in their place loses one score involvement and doesn’t seem to really achieve anything other than making me feel less “wasteful”, so I am not sure that is any better in reality (?).
- One option I have considered is starting a lot of Melbourne players, and then trading out those who have the weakest role/highest breakeven/worst form/perhaps who are injured or omitted after R1. I get the benefit of a whole round of extra info (two games for those players - ie quite a lot of extra info) as well as the extra score involvements.
- I’m favouring Philippe over Inglis at this stage, which I’m pretty comfortable with after looking into it, so Inglis isn’t a must as I see it. He is obviously an option on the BAT line, but his form isn’t great and I wonder if he has Aussie selection concerns lingering to make him a complicated purchase/selection, especially as WK1. He also bats lower than I would ideally like, albeit WK is slim pickings.
- I heard that Overton is ramping up his bowling, but did not bowl in consecutive matches for England in the latest five match series - he bowled in games 1, 3 and 5. That’s somewhat encouraging but also concerning, so I am okay to wait and see on him.
- I actually thought Hardie was under more of a cloud than Honeyball is now indicating, so perhaps I should get him in. With a few injuries for the Scorchers, Hardie could have one of the best roles in the comp, and almost all of the big all rounders seem to have some sort of reason not to pick them (mainly fitness or role) … so if Hardie ends up in the clear, he’s probably a priority in for my side.
- I’m open to trading someone like Maxwell for cash if needed. While I know a lot of people don’t like trading their best players out, wanting to hold them for their SGRs, my view is that I want to have the best DGR players, so if I have to sacrifice some SGR top liners to do that, that’s okay.
Been waiting for him to qualify for the USA.
He was one of 3 (Gous , Netravalkar the others) that Klinger was impressed with after the MLC , thought Bayliss was keen to get him to the Thunder.
Need to see what the Renegades do with that final spot (Harvey/Wells/another bowler) 6-5 (if he and Sutherland are in the 6 , might make him less appealing if Sutherland is fit to bowl and they end up with 7 options sharing overs)
Most likely in my Round 1 team (or O'Neill)
Totally agree re trades , not trading out AS or PS , MS with a DGR in Round 3 , MR with a DGR in Round 4 so the MR seem the obvious one or maybe start 3 x HH/ST players with good match ups and trade them out 🤔
Crazy not to trade at all !!!
Pity we can't carry trades over Round to Round , would make the game more challenging and interesting.
My thinking has always been Maxwell - > Short then 2 MR out or 3 x MR and sit on a lot of cash depending if we start or wait for Overton & Short.
Don't mind Philippe myself (I guess Inglis to Philippe becomes a easy trade in Round 3 but we might end up with way more trade in options for Round 3 than we can get) , if Peirson opens he might have some merit as well
ECB might monitor Overton's bowling load and Strikers will have 7 options once full strength.
West Australian has a article locked where they mention updates on Agar , Connolly , Hardie , Turner and how they are tracking.
Need to read the article as I think.it mentioned Hardie playing as a bat only.
I guess this week we can just play around with different structures and wait for news to drop them lock a side in.
I guess at the end of the day we can't have everyone we want
