currently deciding between Maxwell and Bartlett.

leaning towards Bartlett as I would have a good backup captain option instead of being stuck with Johnson C if my vc fails in the first game. Any thoughts more than welcome
This makes sense to me. Maxwell could go huge but his form is not great.

Probably worth considering who would be your VC in both scenarios too. If Maxwell is your main VC candidate and you like that option, you may be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Torn with how to play this round, essentially either trading out next rounds assets or jumping off Scorchers and backing in a few more of that 100-120K range.

Last rounds strategy backfired massively in hindsight and feel like I'm in a bit of trouble structurally now.

I've sort of dug a similar hole, current team (before trades)

Pierson (Shaw)
Overton, Curran, Webster, Stoinis, Harper (H Khan, Bazley)
Behrendorff, Connelly, Richardson, Abbott, McKenzie (Rogers, Zampa)
Thornton

Cash before trades $91,200

So my problems are Richardson, Webster, H Khan, Abbott and McKenzie.

The dream was to get Maxwell this week, but now thinking I might have to compromise and hide behind the couch when the Stars play 🤣.

Thinking:

Richardson->Dwarshuis
Abbott->Edwards
McKenzie->Renshaw

Leaving:

Pierson (Shaw)
Curran, Renshaw, Stoinis, Webster, Harper (H Khan, Bazley)
Behrendorff, Connelly, Edwards, Dwarshius, Overton (Rogers, Zampa)
Thornton

Leaves $45,600 or upto $177,400 to fix Webster.

It's not ideal, but might be the best I can do with the cards dealt.

Any other thoughts?

Haven't quite got the cash to carry 2 more 120K options with these trade outs, would have to pick a Hayden Kerr and hope the role is sound and he actually plays both games.
Honestly, in your position structure wise I’d go a little bit rogue and try and pick some non double players that are making you some cash. Owen, Meredith or Bancroft types that you know don’t have a bye and aren’t too expensive. Bancroft should be opening now with Konstas gone, Meredith is well unders price wise and Owen has huge cash to make at least for one more round.

That looks like quite a good approach to me.

Siddle is one I don’t mind as an alternative to Renshaw, albeit he has a bit more JS risk.

If I understand correctly, you could potentially trade a Dorf type and get access to a Hosein or Bartlett type.

Owen may also be attractive if you want cash gen, albeit I’m not sure I would boost for him.

I'm in a similar situation, I have Seifert and Overton too and could trade them out and could bring in two of Hosein, Bartlett and Maxwell. I would then have to trade Seifert and Overton back in next round so would have two less doubles players next round and Overton who is averaging 87.7 could get as much on a single as a DGR player. There would be two less SI's so losing those potential points needs to be considered against potential big scores from Hosein, Bartlett and Maxwell. Have traded out Scorchers instead and traded in Dwarshius, Banton and Walter.

Yeah I could do Behrendorff to Hosein or Bartlett, but that would still leave the Webster problem and would have to start Bazley, at least if I trade Webster up to Walter or the like I can avoild playing all of Harper, Bazley etc.

Dorff as long as he plays seems to be a reasonable single game option.

Circumstances probably rule out the Owen option.

Thanks for your thoughts 😃

Provided hes fully fit he feels a bit of a bargain really, showed in last BBL finals what he can do and Perth and Gabba are usually very good for a tall fast bowler.
Reckon im gonna grab him. 80k cheaper than Bartlett. Gotta cull some deadwood this round in Weatherald and Konstas so need the cheaper guys like Johnson and Mcsweeney. Can still get Maxwell and Dwarshuis too thankfully

Better to trade Rogers (gades) to McSweeney or Konstas to Renshaw?

Johnson really burnt me last season so staying away. Didn't go with Harper for the same reason though so don't listen to me.

Konstas to Renshaw, saves you a trade next week if you want to get Rogers back.

  • How many matches or seasons will it take to forget the incident and to reconsider him rather than intentionally decreasing the talent pool?
  • Was this due to buying in at a larger entry price in which there should be a greater expectation for it to turn sour given the required higher return on investment relative to other options?
  • Is the situation from last season comparable to this season?

Bartlett and Walter.

Walter and Maxwell both with the juicy all-rounder role but I feel Bartlett edges out McSweeney as the number 1 bowler at the Heat over the bat only role for McSweeney

Also wary of a somewhat rusty Maxwell. He is a freak though as we all know.
Option 1 for me. Not sure I like taking a batsman over a gun bowler, and I think Walter and Maxwell are close enough to not o***et that gap.
Thanks both!

Not sure how much cash you've got but could do something like,
Weatherald -> Renshaw/McSweeney
Behrendorff -> Edwards
Richardson -> Walter
Morris -> Mir

Does mean you have to straight field Allen and Bazley which isn't really ideal.

Unsure if this one has been done but...

Bartlett & Hosein
Vs
Maxwell & Johnson (+50k)
I'm most willing to go against the guys that have played one game collectively in the last 2 months, if they burn me then so be it. Does the 50k get you anything else with your trades?

I already own Hosein but I don't think I'd be that keen on him if I didn't, 195k is a lot to pay for a spinner batting 10. SCG is a nice ground for him but Gabba could be anything.
