It’s a good point, I was meaning to ask about this earlier.

@Aston I understand you would see the official teamsheets from the clubs themselves. Have you ever checked/noticed the extent to which they align with what other sources (eg the clubs’ own social media, Channel 7) show?

At times I have thought that Channel 7 may be speculating on batting order rather than reporting it.

I suspect some clubs are also more honest/consistent than others (?).
Hey mate sorry I didn’t get to this message earlier.

There’s been a few occasions where I’ve seen discrepancies from the official team sheets to the club’s social media and/or Channel 7.

However, there is no rhyme or reason to these situations and it can be quite sporadic as to when this happens.

Interesting, thanks for letting me know.

My sense was that the toss and reported XIs are announced so close to game time that some sources (eg Channel Seven, and perhaps CricInfo/CricBuzz) may be somewhat forced to guess, rather than report, them.

I believe I have heard previously that the club ones on social media are the ones to follow, but based on your reply, it sounds like the number of “discrepancies” is fairly modest, and may even be driven by changes to the batting order, rather than an initial misreporting of the planned order.

I have choked :(

680 with 5 to come (chaudhary VC) expecting to surrender my lead quite severely and will need a miracle to chase the leaders for the last round.
Well done to those on a big score this week though, done well
The fickle nature of BBL SC!

All you can do is reset for the last round.... embrace the carnage and hope for the best! You're not going to get every decision right, but you've obviously got right more then most. Back yourself!

Thanks mate, I will have to try get funky with my last 3 rounds and see what I can do
You're (probably) not going to end too far behind the current number 2 (he's 677 with Owen C, Meredith, Chaudhary, Doran, Ellis and Johnson to play), and the current number 4 was 228 points behind you coming into this round. So while you'll drop, I'd expect you're going to be very much at the pointy end once it opens up tonight.

Work out a plan for the final round and give yourself some flexibility to get funky later on in the round if you need it. If tomorrow's game is a washout, there's going to be a lot of people who have to sell Thunder/Sixers players and will have to rely on Canes players to get a decent score.

Could get interesting if the Canes win tonight and tomorrow's game is a washout. They'd go into the final game knowing that top spot is guaranteed.

You should still be pretty close at the top with most of the threats depth not great coming into the round.
Rank 2 (+67)
Could be struggling as they came in with Maxwell, Stoinis, Warner, McDermott, Doran, Manenti, Christian, Scott, Allen, Zampa, Short and Jordan.
Rank 3 (+69)
Short, Maxwell, Webster, Stoinis, Seifert, Salzmann, Harper, J. Richardson, Manenti, Zampa and Abbott.
Rank 4 (+228)
Not sure if they still do but they did own Green and Bethell coming in. Depth behind wasn't great with Phillipe, Manenti, Billings, JFM, Maxwell, Jordan, Stoinis, Buckingham and Allen.
Rank 5 (+233)
Had Green and Andrews coming in but also had Billings, Doran, Warner, Short, Lynn, Marsh, W.Agar, Brown and Manenti.
Rank 6 (+242)
5/912 currently @Miller is a Steele ;)
Rank 7 (+253)
Had Green and Bethell coming in.
Rank 8 (+263)
Had Bethell but also Maxwell, Stoinis, Turner, Gilkes, Webster, Thornton. and K Richardson
Rank 9 (+268)
Had Green and Bethell but also Seifert, Harper, Warner, Maxwell, Macdonald, Jordan, Stoinis, Scott and Zampa
Rank 10 (+273)

Rank 11 (+274)
Warner, Duckett, Davies, Turner, M Short, Marsh, K Richardson, Jordan, Salzmann, Hardie and Steketee
Rank 12 (+303)
Owned Green but also Maxwell, Warner, JFM, Christian, Scott, Zampa, Stoinis and Abbott
Rank 13 (+318)

Add to the mix the international players that have finished up. People may struggle to field a decent team between all the various players who could miss or be DNP!

Yeah it could be carnage.
  • Bethell and Overton gone.
  • Thunder/Sixers players lock out game 1 (which is worse case scenario if washed out).
  • Most people are running with a donut or two.
  • If the Hurricanes (last game) are assured of top spot, do they rest players?

Am I the only coach without a Captain's score yet...
There seems to be two distinct pools of scores posted thus far, the 'have' and 'have not', my team sits nicely in the latter.
My 2 Short's combined for 39 points so hopefully my 3rd INs tonight can do better than that, he may even get to wear the captain armband.
I knew that my approach for this round had the hallmark of going pear shape, but it has unfolded at the very extreme end of bad.
The only hope I have now is for the second part of my equation next round to come to fruition so I can at least end the season on a high.

Congrats to all our coaches with great scores this round, particularly those at the very pointy end.
Exciting times ahead, waiting for lockout to end tonight to see where you've landed, then putting your final touches on your plan to be the first to salute comes Sunday evening. Know that you've got the whole of SCS coaches waiting in anticipation of the thought of potentially crowning another SCS BBL champion!

Thanks for the analysis, you are all right, a very intriguing last round coming up with international players departing and the possibility of resting players. I guess I will drop down a fair few place but with all single games next week, it could all be as simple as to who we put the (C) on
