A lot of workplaces do allow at least a couple of weeks off for paternity leave now. It's not all that unusual. Good on him for putting family first I guess.
Because it's his job that he is paid millions to do. Professionalism. I was at all of my kids births, didn't need more than one day off for any of their births.

Different industries and situations may not be comparable given the potential luxuries and flexibility associated with his line of work. Previous complications not publicly disclosed (miscarriage, caesarean, etc) could be a reason for additional time if such occurred.
Depends on definition of “professionalism“, as a front office that significantly overpaid to keep his services now wants out of their self inflicted decision and thus want to protect their asset and minimise the risk of injury, etc that may make him less enticing to other suitors. Greater risk of soft tissue injury if rushing him back if there is a tight upcoming schedule. Then logistics involved in chartering a flight specifically for him or finding other methods and will minutes be managed in case of blowout, etc. Allowing increased opportunities for depth or younger players that will form the future of the team whereas he is unlikely to feature in these plans could therefore be classified as “professionalism” in this circumstance, if there is a realisation of how mutually beneficial it is for both parties.
Guaranteed contract and thus not conditional on game day payments for salary with the timing and frequency of recurring payments established in the contract.
Thank you. Cleveland’s 4 makes it easy to hold Garland for another round and glad there was not a large difference between he and Mitchell as I was concerned by Mitchell’s high volume in comparison to Garland and felt that Mitchell was also the larger injury/resting risk given their standing. Okongwu making it tough to trade as he, SGA and Thompson are the only players scheduled to play less than the max but can make cases to hold each going forward.
Quick look at the schedule and attention turns to Detroit, Minnesota and Phoenix. N Reid and C Cunningham could be interesting replacements for SGA and Okongwu but then need to start looking ahead on how to bring SGA back pronto.
Didn’t expect Garland to be the first of the Cleveland duo to miss a game. Mitchell now starting to punish me. Perhaps I should not have paid attention to the updated schedule and traded Okongwu. Barnes solid and Davis injury unfortunate but has had a great run so far and thankfully put 50 on the board in the opener.
I am also playing for fun, but for a number of weeks now, it has not been enjoyable as my team has not been competitive due to the numerous injuries I have sustained. Like you, I am hoping for our luck to change.
