Thanks mate. Off topic, as a saints fan whats your expectations off schoenmakers this year, is he a viable option?
I had him in my squad for awhile but I don't really think there's been enough of a sample size to make the call for $270k over a rookie.
With all the money that we're already saving in the fwd line I reckon either a gun or a rookie in that position is preferrable, for me anyway.
If you're keen though, see how he goes in the pre-season hitouts, that could definitely change my mind.

Maybe, but if you're hoping for that it could be a very disappointing outcome, he's just still so inconsistent.
the other draper is more relevant Russty

Very satisfied with my team $0 remaining. Going to sit on this for a while.

In my starting team Russty but for how long?
I'm struggling to see the upside here with Trac and Clark back to dominate CBA's. Rivers only managed 90 odd with both pretty much out of the picture late last year.

No real training reports or insight from me but happy to say whatever you want to hear. ;)

Powell-Pepper a poor kick but will compensate with pressure. At an elevated rookie price tag, he may struggle to string a few 70-80+ scores together as a sub 50 here or there may limit considerable cash gen (I.e moving to that low $300,000 range).

Fair bit of depth at the small forward position relative to other lines, so with a high pick spent on a small forward, then it bodes well for Berry (comparisons made to R Gray). Hopefully he can play high half forward and push up the ground to help the quality of entries coming in although that feels counter-intuitive if the game plan of locking it in the forward fifty by heading to the boundaries and kicking too many behinds with a high forward press exposed on the counter attack is still a go.

With the key position injuries, X Walsh may be worth keeping an eye on although we have a poor record of developing key position talent. As for Houston departing, Williams will be worth a watch as he is priced under $200,000 but again similar to the above in that there looks to be plenty of depth down back (non key position). Managed 8/17 scores of 80 or more in 2023 from non sub matches. Unsure what the issue was last season and would prefer to defer to someone more knowledgeable.
I think the issue with Williams last season was fitness. He is a bit slow, readily admits that he's not a natural runner, so can be found out for pace and not having had a great off-season in '24, after coming into '23 really fit and fighting for his career, meant he was dropped. He's a great kick, reads the game really well and is apparently looking really lean this pre-season. It's definitely between him and Sinn for Houston's spot (or possibly Atkins but I hope not). I would be surprised if whoever wins it scores anything like Houston because I'd expect Farrell and to a lesser extent Evans to be the main distributors in Houston's absence, but its still a pretty lucrative role and I'll probably pick one of Williams or Sinn if they look like they've nailed down the spot ready for Round 1.

This part of the article makes it hard to pick SDK for mine:-

Geelong will continue to face a ruck conundrum in 2025, juggling the part-time acts of Sam De Koning, Rhys Stanley and Mark Blicavs, whose versatile skillsets have been utilised to rotate through the role while the Cats list remains without a set star tall.

King hinted that the usual suspects of 2024 will likely continue their ruck cycle, however, an untried teenage prospect has had a strong pre-season and pressing his case for a debut.

"There will be a little bit of (Mark Blicavs) as well (as Sam De Koning and Rhys Stanley in the ruck) at times," King said.

"We've got options there with, you know what 'Scotty's (Chris Scott) like, having as much flexibility in the team as we can, and we feel like we've got enough players to be able to do that.

"I think Mitch Edwards is one that's jumped up a little bit. He's had a great pre-season, showing signs, but again, hasn't played a lot of football yet.

"We want to make sure he's his growth and development is a priority over a short-term hit of just playing.

Going to be another year of musical chairs in the rucks for the cats by the sounds of it.

It's not netball though where they stick on a bib and just play that position for the entire game though

The modern game is all about adaptability and flexibility.

Need to be versatile and less predictable to the opposition.

6-6-6 is good at the start of each quarter and after a goal is scored but then positions are pretty pointless and redundant.

Pretty much a ruck , 2-3 key forwards , 2-3 key backs , maybe a specialist forward and defender and everyone else is just in a "swarm" around the ball.

that's true but there are still different roles within the swarm that are less friendly for scoring - but I wouldnt think this news would be putting anyone off Bailey Smith

It's on X, which I don't have and won't link out of principle. Conway did something to a disk/s in his back from coughing in bed. Apologies for the non-link. Conway sounds like he's a long way from participating in season 2025.
Sorry, but what "principle" are you talking about? People frequently use X for references on this forum.
