I was also hopeful for Smith earlier this pre-season but he’s constantly been on the ‘B’ team in match sims.

Unfortunately we won’t be able to learn a whole lot from a Richmond perspective with the team they’re fielding today.
I would be shocked if he had a good run at it, don't really rate him I would rather see the likes of brown/ralphsmith playing that role.

I’m not feeling particularly comfortable fielding any of the key defender types.
Introduction of flex could help alleviate concerns of key position rookies, especially at his (Whitlock’s) price tag. RD1 and RD5 are the only rounds in the opening six rounds in which we require more than 18 players.

Agreed on Connor, really impressive hitout.

The other thing to consider is using D8 as a rolling donut. Gives effectively 3 shots at D6 with the Flex. I'd personally only be doing it if the rookies are disastrous there but it's definitely an option.

The backs don't look that bad so far though.

Reid, Whitlock, O'Sullivan, Allan, Williams, Travagli, Sinn, McLennan, Prior, Hardeman, Fonti, Woewodin, Goater, Bergman, Paton, Smith, El-Hawli, Hayes, Farrar and Busslinger all still very much in play.

A couple of others could yet pop up.

Not sure there's more than a couple I'd want starting but the flex covers one of them at least so can take two shots at it.

Stone a solid chance at being a round 6 switch. Could be another couple possibly as well.

I'm running with Jagga, Langford, Draper onfield and also have Tsatis and Odriscoll in flex and on field. I have much more confidence in these players than our defensive and forward rookies players to score well on field.
No Lalor.?, Big solid lad who should hold his own against the more experienced men. Was having a good game with a decent role before leaving the field. Do you see him as being eased into the team later in the season.?

I posted this before I watched his game, now taken Langford spot. Played better than I thought and I think it will only help with the likes of Taranto and hopper playing beside him.

Rookies galore 🤗

Sheezel + Mills + 6 😉

Cross Fonti off due to his suspension.

Plenty of time to see what unravels

Fonti only a 1 weeker in SC, if he looked locked in through preseason then could have real value as the loophole in round 1. Would need a pretty outstanding preseason showing to back though so probably fair.

Generally if thinking more rookies in a line you really need another 2 or 3 that you're not picking that are decent options because there needs to be the contingency if it goes sideways!

Giants will be interesting with those suspensions

Round 3 side could have 3-4 changes from their Round 0 side

Get a "free" look at their cheaper players in Round 0 then can always wait until Round 3 to correct if necessary given they have the Bye in Round 2.

I think the last few seasons we have had between 25-35 under the # 1 Draft picks price playing Round 1 so just need to select the right ones (obviously)

Yeah, I believe Langford has the better JS of the two at this stage.
Any update on this Ben, strong chance for round 1?
He averaged 152 SC playing for Dandenong last season, almost the same as Jagga Smith (154)

Feel like he has gone under the radar, sounds like he has a strong SC game & AFL ready body/ well built kid.
