Rowsus, who do you reckon would be the best pick for the final m8 position out of Rockliff, Fyfe, JPK, Harvey and Dal Santo?
Personally, I like Fyfe the best because of his draw and scoring potential but I am concerned he will get rested during SC finals. I mention Harvey and Dal Santo due to their run home.
Much appreciated.
30, I have been pushing Fyfe for the last 3 weeks now as my pick outside of Ablett and Pendles to score the highest for the remainder of the season. When tracking his progress against Pendles on a game for game basis since the start of their careers he is actually well in front of him. I can see him becoming the "5th Musketeer" behind the other two (+ Swan and Selwood, though one of those two seems to have had his sabre retired!)
The others, I like JPK over Rocky for consistency, and even given their good draws, would have Dal and Harvey last. I think you just have to Wear the Ross Lyon factor.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus,

I will most likely be trading out one of either Pavlich or Roughead this week. Who would you suggest can go the biggest from here? And what does RAMP suggest they may average for the remainder of the year?

Cheers mate.
Hi The MC,
obviously it would be preferable to keep both, and RAMP has Pav beating Roughie by 12 points from here to the end of the season. You'd think if one was going to get rested, or given a safety red vest, it would be Pav. Interestingly RAMP has Pav beating Roughie by a little over 10 in each of the last 2 games (assuming he plays) of the season, so if the finals mean something to you, he might be the better pick. SC Gold also gives Pav a small advantage in the last 2 games over Roughie.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus!

How you going mate?

Just a quick downgrade question.

Do you think I should trade out Shenton or Impey for Honeychurch? If it's Impey, do you think I should do it this week? he's breakeven is at 101. Or wait till SHenton makes more money so that I have more when I trade him out... eg 340k-117k?

I am not sure if I want to trade out Martin eventually or not. Initially I was thinking of trading out Martin for Harvey in like 2-3 weeks time... but he is going great guns... and is the basically one of the best forwards around. I could trade Impey to Honeychurch... then when Harvey drops in price (which he hopefully will) trade him for Shenton and keep Martin and loophole Martin and Pavlich. But that would leave me with no money for any cover or upgrade (not upgrades because I essentially would have only 1 trade left if I got Harvey in)

I don't know what I should do.
Hi wT2k,
your team is pretty much full, so you probably don't need a big bag of cash right now. I think I'd downgrade Impey this week. He's well overpriced on his average, and doesn't provide great coverage as he has only beaten 56 3 times. He is actually priced like a 57 scorer and is a good chance to drop $25-30k this week. Shenton can be relied on for 70-75, and sometimes higher, Impey is averaging 40 with his highly inflated 117 taken out.
Just be careful with pinning your hopes too highly on Martin. When Leuey comes back, and Martin is pushed Forward he might become a 70 point player again! Give him a game or two, then if you think your Rucks are safe (?!) then maybe upgrade him if he looks like losing form because of Leuey. Keeping Martin is of course preferable, even if he becomes a 70 point Ruck back up, it comes down to how much you trust you R1/2 and how much Martins scores drop.
Good luck :)

Good morning Rowsus,

I hope you prospered from the high scores on the weekend. I learnt an important lesson about loopholing when i had to take Bews (E) score ahead of Simpson's as i loopholed Clurey to take GAJ C score. Won't happen again.

Would you mind considering my trade thinking. Shenton to Morabito (or another rookie) and McGovern to Parker.

This would leave me 4 trades and $92k in the bank. Then i would have Honeychurch at M9 and a strong F7 that I can change with Honeychurch if need be. My backs are still a tad weak but i think this option allows me to score well for the rest of the season and have decent M/F cover. Am i wasting trades or is this a good option?

Thanks in advance. ****.
Good morning ****,
I didn't Prosper as well as I'd have liked, and fell about 80 short of my projected score, leaving me a little under 2400. So it goes, no use crying. I like most Coaches look forward to having at least 1 good Sunday this season...... hopefully soon!
Don't be too hard on yourself with your loopholing "error". When loopholing became possible I decided I'd give myself 3 errors before I'd say "I really should have learnt by now" and start kicking myself hard. I'm currently sitting on two, so I have one more up my sleeve before I put my kicking boots on! Of course I'm not talking selection errors here, but execution errors.
I'd be careful on taking Morabito. Any Rookie before the bubble is risky, but one with his record is REALLY risky!
It's an interesting dilemma you have. You have little or no Def back up, but your D6 looks stronger than your F5! The idea to strenghten your Fwds is a good one, but make sure you keep an eye on an opportunity to find a D7 for back-up.
Given the weakness of your F5/6 it does look like a good option.
Good luck :)

Hey Row,

I have traded myself into a hole this season. Have only one left!
Appreciate if you could have a look at my team again and give advice.
I have grif, so could save trade and see what happens with him i suppose.

Cheers mate
I know this is the questions for Rowsus thread but this seems like some fairly straight forward advice here:

Save your last trade with your life!!!

With there being eight round to go I would try to hold onto that last trade as long as possible. Only use it when one of your premiums sustains a season ending injury. Lets say you did use your last trade this week and then Ablett does his knee you would be stuffed! Even more so if Pendles then breaks his arm the week later.

I have had a look at your team and you will have Shenton to cover for Griffen in the mids. Your forwards and rucks will be fine, while in your backs if Shaw doesn't play then you will have to hope Bews isn't dropped. I would even cop a donut in your backs this week if both don't play rather than use the last trade.
Thanks PZ.
Next year will go easier on trades and let cows moo more before upgrading.
Hi Juzzo,
as you'd expect, I agree 100% with Phil! That should come as no surprise, as the guy has a SC record that would probably have him in the top 100 if there was a ladder for consistency over the many years.
I think I'd definitely cop a donut here or there, before I committed to using that last trade. You have some DPP links that will help you, and strong Fwd and Ruck coverage. Just keep your fingers crossed that Griffen gets back sooner, rather than later.
Good luck :)

Thanks Rowsus. I've got two loophiling errors left then. I'll try not to use them!

Yep def is a concern although word is Clurey might be back this week so ill at least have a d7/d8 but have to rely on my main defenders for scoring. Trying to find different option to morabito but it's tough. Might hold fire this week just to see what unfolds.

Thanks again, hope yr season picks up from here.

I agree Rowsus and it does feel we look backwards too much when we worry about the Ross factor just as much as it was the Hawks in the prior year(s). With split round coming up and Dockers wanting a top 2 position, the Ross factor may not eventuate this year.

I have learnt from preseason that worrying about one round can lead to the detriment of your side. By all reports, Sam Jacobs was a stand out to start with in round 1 but I went Leuy only because of the round 8 bye factor. This led to a Leuy > Hickey > Hale (starting building in dpp defense as I didnt see a Stef martin coming along) > Jacobs trade. If I started Jacobs, I would now have 2 more trades, Stef in fwd line (not Hale) and an extra $150k of cash.

More than happy I brought in Fyfe recently and likely Josh Kennedy will be next.

Hi Rowsus,
I have three trades left. I wonder if its worth burning one to provide midfield cover, one of eight being out is more likely than one of two ruckman being out.

I currently have Hallahan and Hartung on the bench, both may not play again. My thought is wait and see how Honeychurch goes this week and sell Hallahan, for a cash injection, or Hartung for bugger all, for him the following week. Or following that train of thought, would there be a better option than Honeychurch, perhaps spend more for the durability of my team.

Is it a waste, or should I just keep the three for LTIs/finals (if I make any!)

Slainte,

Keith

That Impey stat is awesome. Thanks a lot Rowsus... I am now really considering taking him out of my team now. Thanks for that! Honeychurch this week right before Impey drops in price? Just scary picking Honeychurch before the bubble that's all.

Do you think Parker or Harvey is a better option to finish off the forward line?

Hi Rowsus,

Im just wondering if you would be able to give me a quick breakdown of what Tom Rockliff's price will be for a few different scores if you get a chance.

Say his BE of 80, which I presume won't change, 100, 120, 140 and 160 which is a possibility for him :)

Cheers Goodie.

Hi Rowsus,

After a year high ranking of 574 after Rd 13, I have had two disasterous weeks and in the space of two weeks my ranking has slipped to 2,093, well short of the top 1,000 aim and I would like some advice as to how I can possibly turn it around or at least stop the slide and make my way back up to the top 1,000. I have 6 trades left and $142,400 in the bank.

The main problem players as far as I can see are Birchall, Walker, Swan, Murphy, Pavlich and Wingard.

My initial rage trade plans were:

Wingard - Parker and Pavlich - SJ/Cotchin (which would leave about $40k and 4 trades).

Since then I have mellowed somewhat and am now considering:

Cultler - Spina (via Hunt) and Shenton - Sloane/Barlow

This second option would leave S Martin as F6 and Wingard as F7 and Taylor as M9 with Spina as M10.

Im really not sure which way to go and your advice as to any other options would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Brown is the cheapest R/F plus the bonus of playing and on the bubble. I have 5 trades and S.Martin as F6 and Sandilands as R1. Is it worth burning a trade to have a link for the eventual sandilands rest? Or just wait and see and trade any R/F in later?

G'day Rowsus,
I can trade Ambrose to Sloane or Dal Santo this week.
In your opinion who is the better choice?

PS...Sad thing is I'm $200 short of trading Ambrose to JPKennedy.
Would it be worth no trade of Ambrose this week and wait in hope for next week in the hope of affording JPK?
This would cost me points this week of course and may end up even further from affording JPK but I'd still have the Sloane/DalSanto option to fall back on.
Ambrose's B/E = 59.. possibility of him reaching this and maybe even rising $2,000-$3,000.
JPK's B/E = 117.. likely to reach it comfortably but.. also could just equal it and maybe the price difference between he and Ambrose could be made up.

However with only 8 games to be played this means say, diff bw Sloane/DalSanto v JPK = maybe 80-100pts? (maybe even more!) ..let's say 90pts for rest of year.
I would only be getting the benefit of JPK as of next week so that's more like = say 80pts.
- diff bw Ambrose score and Sloane/DalSanto this week = maybe 40-60pts.. let's say 50pts.
So I'd be risking 50pts this week to gain 80pts from next week on.
Haaha actually doesn't sound worth it does it? prob not :)

Sloane v Dal Santo ? thanks mate.

Hi Rowsus, i asked this question on the trades thread but no love yet so thought i'd check your thoughts?

is Derickx to Brown to give me $200k in the bank and leave me 5 trades a good move or bad move? Let Shenton and McGovern roll a little longer and see if more money can be made. Mcgovern can be loopholed in the forwards and Shenton is there in case of emerg. Will miss Hibberd this week but cop the Bews score or donut. or do i go with my original thought and trade Shenton and Gov to Parker/Mora or Hunt (D/M link)?

thanks mate, sorry to throw so many options up but i need all the advice i can get to win my league!

Hi Guys,
I must apologise. Between my new job, and having ridiculous internet problems at home, I haven't been able to delve into your questions as much as I would like this week. I usually tackle them in chronological order, but I might need to look at some that are affected by tonights game first.
Internet permitting, I will be home around 1am Melbourne time, and even though it may be too late for some, I will delve into the unanswered questions then.
Good luck :)

Hi Courtesans,
another season of more than your fair share of bad luck! Hopefully it evens out, and next year you get your share of good luck.
Even with the SJ possibly late out scare, I'd sit tight this week, and assess things again next week. I don't think you gain enough by trading this week, unless the SJ out costs you position in any Cash League you may be in.
Good luck :)

Hi Deeman1,
I think the road to higher scores lies better in creating stronger benches with loopholing possibilities, rather than side trading underperforming Prems.
The Cutler/Spina move leaves you no coverage in your Defs, and no M/D DPP link. Cutler to Z Jones leaves you $218,200 in the bank. That would allow you to bring in Barlow/Boak/Gray R/Jack K for Shenton, and maintain your M/D DPP link, as well as giving you a playing (for how long?) Rookie on your Def bench. It still has Taylor at M9, and gives you a better coverage potential. your Def coverage is still shakey, and you want to keep an eye on it, but apart from that, you have Taylor to keep or milk in a week or two, and if Jones can land one decent score, you're on your way to some Def cover.
Good luck :)

ps - taking Wingard up to your Mids, and trading him instead of Shenton is an option, and possibly is a window of opportunity that is closing this week. I wouldn't consider with any less than your 6 trades left, and if you didn't have some good DPP links set up.

Sorry for the late answer, Zim. I'm still having internet problems.
Given Browns JS probably isn't great, I would have suggested holding off on that trade until it proved necessary. Any dollars Brown might have made become largely irrelevant, as it is likely you will be stuck with him anyway.
Good luck :)
