G'day Slammer,
I like the option of keeping Taylor over Shenton. It does restrict your selections a bit, but it appears better in the long run. Stokes looks like about as good as you can afford in this option, though I would also consider Hartlett.
Good luck :)
Thanks Rowsus
However now that Litherland is out do I hold all trades?
Now have no cover in backline
Is Hannebery likely to fall enough for me to grab next week?

Happy to help Slammer.
With only 2 trades left, and no apparant cover in your Def line now, it might be prudent to hold off....... unless trading will secure a win in your main League. Even then, holding off might still work best. Bews and Lither could both be named, of course, but it seem it unlikely.
Good luck :)

Hi blue,
Normally I would say forget my opinion, but seeing as I'm the weekly "Predict the Score" Winner, my opinion might be good for at least 1 week! :p

Rowsus
----SJ: 89 - 95 - 120 - 116
Boom: 138 - 108 - 90 - 107
RAMP
----SJ: 97 - 116 - 91 - 124
Boom: 121 - 95 - 98 - 121
Thanks for your promptness.

Still really considering SJ to Boomer won't decide until Sat morning.

The safe thing to do is sit on my last two trades, but safety is sometimes overrated.

Howdy Saint,
what an amazing sliding door situation you have, having kept Tyson. It's really made a difference, well done!
I think you trust Thompson for now, especially as you can loophole him with Gardiner this week, assuming Bews isn't selected.
I would definitely ride Tyson out while he's scoring like this. Especially as Melbourne has a SC friendly draw.
I would consider making a move in your Forward line.
It's a little complicated, as it would be good to have some cash left too. The WB's give the best loopholing possibilities from here, as nearly all their games are Sunday games, and late. The problems is, their cheapest Fwds are Redpath $141,400 and Honeychurch $146,200. Honey might be a chance to play, and also might be a chance to shift up to your Midline in your last trade, to complete a DPP loop. Great for linking, but bad for loopholing if he plays. See, I told you it becomes complicated! The next best team for loopholing might be Brisbane. You can get Freeman for $117,300 or Wearden with M/F DPP for $123,900. This would enable you to turn Wingard/McGovern into someone better, like McGlynn, or even Martin S for scoring and loopholing in your Ruck. (it's not too late to get him.) I'd probably get Wearden, as it might help with your last trade.
A lot of it comes down to how much cash you might want to upgrade Tyson if/when you do it.
Good luck :)

Thank you so much for your awesome feedback. Once again you have opened up a world of possibilities. Have spent about 5 hours just going through different options.

I have come up with 3 options
1. McDonough/Wingard to Redpath/Martin - $59,500 - lots of loopholing fwds
2. McDonough to Spina - can loophole Wingard & McGovern - $233,800 - next week or week after Wingard to Harvey/McGlynn & Tyson to best option
3. McDonough/Wingard to Spina/Harvey - $41,200

The Martin option opens up the safety of DPP ruck/forward. Unfortunately I agreed with a lot of the feedback I read that he would lose scoring ability once Luenberger came back in. Maybe I just have to go with the philosophy if you can't beat em - join em.

Thanks again and good luck this week yourself

Pav or Wingard who should i start?
I'd start Pav on the ground, and Wingard on the bench, and hope like crazy Cameron doesn't play, so you can loophole them!
If Cameron plays, go with Wingard. Freo might "rest" Pav late if the game is "over".
Good luck :)

After looking at your team the question looks a little puzzling. I can see you intend to shift McVeigh back, but I'm just wondering if your last 2 trades without much coverage across the lines is your best move. That aside, I am sure you have weighed the consequences.
Keep Burgoyne, trade Enright.
Fyfe, just, over Rocky.
Good luck :)

Happy to help, Saint.
Given you have Goldy, Sandy and 2 North Rookie Rucks, you can't do any Ruck loopholing with S Martin switching between the lines. He does of course provide Ruck cover if you happen to need it in the last 3 weeks. He can also be loopholed in the Fwd line of course. I can see Martin's scoring dropping with Leuey's return, but it still might be better than Wingards, whilst still giving Ruck cover.
Spina's not a bad loopholing option, though Ade does play game 2 in Rnd 22. Obviously good for cash generation though.
If you are comfortable in your most important match-up this week, I think I'd go option 2! It genrates good cash, which might prove important next week, or even more hopefully, you win this week and you can wait and assess for a week.
If you are not 100% comfortable in your main match-up, I'd go with option 1, for a bit of a boost this week, and some safety in the weeks to come. Though you still might possibly consider Spina over Redpath. If you are really worried about this weeks match-up, option 3 gives you the biggest boost this week.
I guess you can assess your match-up after the first 2 games, and see if one POD or other has caused reason for concern, or hopefully reason for relaxing a bit, and then decide which option suits your week best. Options 1 & 2 can even be left until after game 4 before you start moving on them, which is pretty handy.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus, I think I will follow your advice and trade Gunston out for Harvey to negate that POD against my opponent.
Charlie Cameron has been named on the extended bench and that presents me with a 50/50 sort of situation.
If indeed he does play and I can't loophole him, should I play Pav against Geelong or McGovern against Collingwood?
Thanks pal.

Pavlich's last 3 scores against Geelong have been 98, 97, 118 all at PS, and going back to 2011. He didn't play Geelong in 2013. He's only played twice at SS for 83 and 103, but that's going back a few years.
McGovern has a 146 in Rnd 13, where he kicked a late winning goal for bonus ponts. His 110 last week was certainly better earnt, and more deserved. He had a career high 24 possessions, and his next best count is only 15! Without those 2 games he is only averaging 64. Pavlich is averaging 75 without his 3 best scores in there.
McGovern's PTS/100%TOG is running at 96.8
Pavlich's PTS/100%TOG is running at 96.9
McGovern's score break up is: 110+ 22.2%, 80 - 109 33.3%, 79 and lower 44.5%
Pavlich's season looks like this: 110+ 17.6%, 80 - 109, 47.1%, 79 and lower 35.3%
Pavlich is an established, if somewhat fading Premium.
McGovern is a tall Rookie on the rise, who only has 1 game with more than 15 possessions, Pav has had 7 games this season with more than 15 possessions. McGoverns 3 biggest scores have come when WC have scored 100+ for the game. WC have only managed that 7 times so far this season. Collingwood have conceded 100+ scores only 5 times this season.
All in all, while it doesn't look a simple decision when isolating the last few weeks, you have to back Pav in to outscore McGovern
Good luck :)

Thanks Rowsus, once again you have backed up just what I was thinking with each option and option 2 was my preferred as well. As the weekend moves on I may well change my opinion if things aren't panning out.
I hope you put as much time into your side as you do all our teams. Though not sure how you would have the time.

cheers

hi rowsus,

who would you pick fyfe or ward?

thanks
Hi pekka20,
I have been pushing Fyfe hard in this thread since his Rnd 12 score of 109. I told anyone that would listen, that I was confident he would be the top scorer outside of Ablett and Pendles for the rest of the season. Since then he has scored 954 in 7 games to average 136.3 in that time.
While Ward is obviously a good pick, I've got to stick to my boy Fyfe!
Good luck :)

Thanks mate. I actually didn't get home in time to make any trades or tonight's game (Ambrose) and i'm thinking about saving my last 2 trades until next week. I managed to finish 1st or 2nd in 4/5 of my leagues, so i have a 2nd chance if i lose in my leagues this week. I am nowhere near the front runners for overall, as such I am no longer going for "overall position" but aiming for a win or two in my leagues. To give you some more data, i have 2 remaining trades and no cash in the bank. I would prefer to somehow get McVeigh into the backline but not exactly sure on how to best do it. Trade out Litherland? What would you do in my situation?

Thanks :)

That time of season where the cash league you didn't care so much about is now a huge factor lol. Overall a dissapointing season for me ranked at 3293rd meaning I'd like to salvage the season by winning my cash league. Playing this week in the semi and my cause for concern is J.Roughead. 1 trade. $185,800 in the bank. When Mitchell was a late out I traded him in for Hibberd *** who may return. I chose him for cash purposes over Malceski. So if I was to sideways Roughead the cash was pointless leaving me upset about the Mitchell trade lol.

There are a couple of thinks I can do. Sideways and thats that. If it is a FWD player it would be:
Roughead to Gray.

To feel a bit better about the cash I could shift Martin back into the FWD line and trade in Goldstein or Jacobs using that cash and feeling slightly better. A sideways trade though leaves me with Ambrose and Cameron as cover who effecively also cover the MID dues to O'Brien and Honeychurch being M9 and M10.

The safer option is to trade Ambrose out, trouble is I fall just short of FWDs I'm happy with. The options are:

Petrie
T. Walker
D. Smith
Dahlaus
Darling
Cloke

I'm really only comfy with Tex or Petrie with nths draw. Though that draw is the same reason I got DalSanto who cost me last week. But really they only cover for one week. I cant loop unless Cameron is dropped unless I start mucking about playing say Harvey in the MID and dropping say Miles.

One more option is to again shift Martin FWD (Surely Looneyberger is back this week) and trade in:
Cox
Pyke
McEvoy

It then pushes Martin as a F7 and assuiming his scores drop, but he is playing so well and getting so many touches its unfair to auto assume he drops because of looney. Afterall West was outscoring him early on.

Very confused and uneasy lol. One trade left and want to make the most of it. Hence thinking creating cover could be benficial. But theres every chance I w ont need the cover either.

Hi anfa,
Because your coverage is thin to non-existent, I think you need to hang onto those trades until you have no choice but to use them. ie facing certain defeat in your main League unless you do.
Just for the exercise of it, if you your back was to the wall right now, and you had to trade or lose, I think I'd look at something like:
Sacrificing Enright, who has a terrible record against Carlton, and turning Swan into Fyfe/Rocky/Priddis OR turn Hartung into Greene, who could kill Melbourne this week! The other option is to turn Ambrose into Gray/McGlynn.
Of course, all this assumes you are back to the wall, and need to go all in. I still think you really need to tailor your last 2 trades to fit the specific, important match-up you need to win.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus

Team as follows:
Swallow Bartel McVeigh Simpson Hanley Enright (Bews Georgiou)
Libba Pendles Selwood Ward Beams Fyfe JPK Goddard (Honeychurch Hunt)
Sandi Mumford (Brown King)
Boomer Parker Danger D.Martin S.Martin Gray (McGovern Pavlich
)

week 2 of finals and this is how it looks against my opponent:

Simpson Burgoyne
Hanley Duffield
Enright Suckling
Libba Johnson
Ward Priddis
Goddard Mitchell
Mumford Jacobs
Parker Dahlhaus

2 trades left and only 8k in the bank.

Assuming all is well when teams are named:
My concerns are Enright and Liberatore..

I can trade Pav/McGovern for a rookie and upgrade Libba to Rockliff/Sloane?
Or trade Enright to Malceski?

Or I can just hold out and wait?

Hoping that Stevie J is out and Crowley negating Sam Mitchell..
Not sure if opponent has any trades.

Thoughts?

Hi Rowsus,

I hope this post finds you well. I myself am not quite so well, a downturn which has come on quite suddenly since the teams came out this afternoon.
While I am sure many others are in the same boat, my particular vessel has been badly holed and is sinking rapidly. I would really welcome your advice on a patch-job:
I can cover Bartel and one of Roughead or McGlynn, but not Stevie J.
I have no cash but ample trades in hand, and I need to win this week.
I thought to trade McGlynn to Gray, and use the resulting $50k to trade Stevie to another mid (Sloane/Heppel/Gibbs).
Is there a standout midfield low-end premium for the run home? I think Sloane is the maximum I can afford.

My first preference is Ambrose to Cox/Pyke. As an owner of McEvoy, stay away at all costs.

You know what my stance is on sideways trading so if you dont go for a ruck, I would go the cheaper forward option. Smith or Dalhaus for me, KF's are too unpredictable.

Dont forget, you are leading the total points scored in our league so even if you lose the elimination final, you should take out that prize. I dont think Vatos United Team is good enough to beat you anyway.
