Just remember the court case was just about determining the lawfulness of the joint investigation.

It had nothing whatsoever to do with determining whether or not the players took any peds.

Which I'm sure everyone on here understands already!
Problem is now Ess players, Monfries and Crameri face show cause notices why we don't press ahead with idea you had been part of a doping system at the club.
That seems to be ASADA situation. Meaning they seem to think there is enough evidence to their way of thinking that they did.
What move next for all those players...stuffed if I know. Very messy...

Just reading an article about it..

Justice Middleton noted that neither Essendon, James Hird or the players brought legal proceedings to challenge the provision of the interim report at the time.

Essendon now have 21 days to appeal the judgement to the full federal court (a court of three judges).

ASADA meanwhile can move to reissue deadlines for the 34 players to respond to the show-cause notices, likely to be a timeline of 14 days.

The anti-doping authority was quick to welcome the federal court judgement.

"Today’s judgment vindicates (ASADA CEO) Ben McDevitt’s strong belief that the Act always contemplated ASADA working with sports to uphold clean competition," they said in a statement released on Friday afternoon.

"The only way to stay ahead of sophisticated doping regimes is to partner with sports; not exclude them from the process.

"Three months ago ASADA put formal allegations of possible anti-doping rule violations to 34 current and former Essendon players. These players still have a case to answer under the World Anti-Doping Code and Australia's national anti-doping scheme."

Outside the court, Hird would not comment on his coaching future.

"I'm very disappointed for the players," he said.

"This is about the players and we're very disappointed for our players."

Hird's wife Tania and controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank left the hearing without comment.

The AFL made a brief statement on the matter, acknowledging the court's decision.

"The federal court decision has reinforced that ASADA complied with the law in establishing and conducting the investigation and lawfully provided the interim report to the AFL," it said.

"The process is now in the hands of ASADA."

While there are currently some/many Bomber supporters losing their heads over today I am going to remain positive. Yes today was a loss of one battle, but it means (unless they appeal!) we can now focus on the real issues. ( As an aside the court case wasn't a complete waste of time, there was quite a bit of information to come out in the discovery process which made fascinating reading even if it did take me several hours to read them all).

I'm hoping Asada releases whatever evidence they have when they present it to the ADVRP and that it is all made public and transparent. I would really like to see it. Now I haven't seen any of the Show Clause notices but I am lead to believe they did not contain any of the actual evidence in them.

If the evidence that Asada has is what I suspect it to be, then lay it out all on the table, and let's give the players the chance to defend themselves. The Club currently states that it remains confident that nothing harmful or banned was given to the players.

I want the players to be given the chance to defend their innonce. And I want this over with asap.

Hope essendon don't appeal u have done the wrong thing sure you self reported all that means is they should be a little bit lenient in there sentence to you. Man up you did tge wrong thing now take the consequences. If you really cared u would know what was going on inside your own club in my opinion it's a gross breach of trust and negligence on the clubs behalf and the poor players are going to be the ones that get it. Get this over with its been going on now for ages would like this settled before start of next season.

The Club has already 'manned up' and accepted penalties for its lack of governance.

And now are trying to get out of it. If they successfully appeal then it opens up a massive can of worms including getting back there fine ect they copped
because if the appeal is overturned then all that is open to get reversed as-well. This issue needs to be resolved asap.

The main objective of the court case wasn't about trying to reverse the governance penalties.

Disagree.
The club accepted this... "for bringing the game into disrepute" last year

That was the club. The AFL dealt with them and club officials in charge at the time.
This issue is now about the players this year being dealt with by ASADA. Not the AFL after the club. That you need to get the difference.
The club copped their whack. The actual individual players are what ASADA believe have never answered a case ASADA believe they have a case against them that needs to be dealt with in some manner. Essendon tried to throw the investigation out on the players behalf. So did James Hird. The courts have basically told them the investigation is ok to go ahead.

I hope they don't appeal.

But I suspect this will take a lot longer still before it is all over.

Geez, Brett Goodes wins a premiership after Footscray win the VFL Grand Final Sunday afternoon. Barely has two days to enjoy the moment and then Bulldogs de-list him.

Was always going to be delisted at his age not being able to crack into the team. The club did the right thing though, better doing the delisting on the Wednesday after the grand final than on the Monday. Gave him a few days to celebrate.

He also got BOG in the GF, just to add to his "stiffness" in getting delisted.
I agree with Squiz though, he had served his purpose, and isn't the way forward for the Club.
They might possibly draft him to the Rookie list?

Yeah, got no problem with them de-listing him. Their choice. Just would have loved them delay it a few more days if they could. Just to let him enjoy the moment a bit longer. Guess it could have been worse and tell him straight after VFL Grand Final.
lol
Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

Think they may have told him before the vfl granny and that's why he played such a ripper game

Random question. Is hannath a future #1 ruck or best 22 player for freo
Sandi, Clarke, griffen Hannath and I'm pretty sure they have another one or two aswell. He may not make it but its promising that he has gotten more games this year.

I mean more long term. EG after Sandilands and Griffin are gone.

I'm in a UF keeper league. My rucks are Minson, Cox, West, King and A.Smith. I'm currently in my premiership window. I was runners up this season purely losing the final based on one player (had of I kept my monday line up I would have won ***)

Obviously Cox is gone, West is injured and Martin has taken over. So ATM I only have one playing ruck and need 2.

I've been offered a trade that sees me recieve Sandilands, Hannath, Petrie in exchange for Kerridge, King, Pick 27 and Pick 41. I probably wont even use pick 41.

So I would have sandilands for now, just wanting to know if hannath is a better prospect than King. Not ideal to be playing a donut all season but obviously with Cox I had a donut in the GF and I still could have won.
