I never said it would be wrong lol, i was merely pointing out that your boys would be near unbeatable with Frawley and Danger.

I reckon we're yet to see the best out of Frawley but agree, he's probably getting overs and pick 3 is very generous. It's a funny system this, i don't really understand it but saw a post on facey showing compensation picks in past years and it's a bit of a head scratcher. I'll see if i can find it.
Ah yes I see mate, thats what i thought I didn't know if you were meaning that it would be wrong so to speak, or if they were to be improved. Haha all good. :)

Here tis!

Recent AFL free agent compos:

Frawley (pick 3)
Dale Thomas (11)
Brendon Goddard (13)
Buddy Franklin (19)
Nick Dal Santo (25)
Jarrad Waite (none)
Don't think it's fair to just compare it like this as it's really decided by where the receiving club sits on the ladder at the end of the season, so there's an 18 pick discrepancy built into the system, if Melbourne had finished first this year they'd be getting the same pick as Hawthorn got for Buddy.

Apparently Varcoe a chance to go to West Coast. Nothing would make me happier than to see him go. Not the same player he was in 2011. Hopefully him and our first rounder for Scott Selwood and their second round pick (probably dreaming though).

Jeff Garlett from Carlton has requested a trade to Melbourne:

Why do birds suddenly appear, ev'ry time Roos is near?
Just like me, they long to be close to Roos.
Why do stars fall down from the sky, ev'ry time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be close to Roos.

On the day that Roos was born the angels got together.
And decided to create a dream come true.
So, they sprinkled moon dust in your hair of brown,
And star-light in your eyes of blue.

That is why all the boys in town follow Roos all around.
Just like me, they long to be close to Roos...
Just like me, they long to be close to Roos...

I don't begrudge Hawthorn getting Frawley. They are obviously managing their salary cap really well. It is interesting that Hawthorn spend time and money chasing defenders, Lake, Gibson, Frawley, Burgoyne and are happy to let the best forward in the game walk. Sydney's time and money is all loaded in the forward line, Buddy, Tippett, Reid and they are happy to let an All Australian defender in Malceski go.
Have Hawthorn unlocked the moneyball secret to list mangement?
If you look at the highest paid players at each club they are elite mids and key position forwards. Because clubs are always chasing these players they are always going to be paying overs. Yet the common thinking is that defense wins premierships but defenders are never valued the same so a club can usually keep good defenders for less money.
Collingwood v Hawthorn is an interesting case study. Pendlebury, Swan, Beams vs Mitchell, Lewis, Hodge? I would think the Collingwood trio are on a lot more money but are they that much better and is it the best way to spend your salary cap? Cloke is also probably on a lot more money than Roughead?
It's nice to hear this from a non-hawthorn supporter. There is no doubt that almost every player on the Hawthorn list is getting unders, Frawley and maybe McEvoy being the exceptions who are massively overpaid for guys who may struggle for regular games next year. It is the only way to maintain a successful side as we have also seen with Geelong.

ps. I wouldn't trade Lewis, Mitchell & Hodge for the best 3 mids from any other club. They may not dominate the stats sheet as much as some others but this is largely due to the depth of players Hawthorn play through the middle so they play a variety of positions. We all witnessed on GF day how effective their best can be.

Gee interesting, didn't think he would choose us considering more inclined to get a game at the Saints.
Hopefully can see him fulfil his talent.

I remember seeing a discussion on player payments a long time ago. It was on the channel 7 Sunday program World Of Sport (that's how long ago it was!) Lou, Bobby and Jack were discussing a player that was holding his Club to ransom, to get more money. The three of them were discussing the best way for Clubs to handle the situation, when Jack said:

"I like the Hawthorn system. When a young player comes in, and says to the board "I'd like this much money next season", the board says to him "Son, are you a better player than Leigh Matthews?". Of course the poor kid had no choice but to say "No". The board would then say "Well, even Leigh Matthews isn't getting that much, now get out of here!"."

Seems like Hawthorn had it right way back then, and still have it right today!

O'Rouke now requesting the Hawks. They are a happy team at Hawthorn !
Word is that Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham and Lebron James are also looking to play at Hawthorn !

Still a risk, and losing (again) our first rounder means it's not exactly for free. That said, obvious Burgoyne replacement for 16/17 if he can get on the park. Very nice :)

"Carlton and the Western Bulldogs have had discussions about a potential trade involving Adam Cooney.

The clubs have spoken about a deal in which the Blues would secure out-of-contract Bulldogs forward Liam Jones, as well as Cooney and the Bulldogs' third-round pick, 45.

The Dogs are determined to move as high up the draft order as possible, and would receive Carlton's pick 28 in return."

Surely this isn't the case...

If true both club list managers need to be strung up on nearest tree

No problem.
Carlton is about 1 hour North of Geelong. We'll take him and throw in Warnock, Kane Lucas and Mitch Robinson to sweeten the deal.
