I'm not a great believer in time trials being a pointer to anything other than running ability and fitness.
Winning time trials in November very rarely translates to more possessions or better SC scores in April.

Jokes aside, two years ago my season evaporated with his injuries.

However this won't dampen my spirits in considering him again.
As long as he can get 3,4,5 price rises before injury he would be worth it to me, if he can get to the byes even better. It can work out though, look at higgins

I'm seriously considering starting with Sam Mitchell at under 500k is great value for a player that can ave over 100..
I know people will say that his getting on and his best is past him, but like Hodge they still find the ball in contested possessions and use the ball very well.
Great POD. :D

If Mitchell were to keep the Def/Mid dpp then yes he is worth considering at least.

However if he goes back to being just a Mid only then there are too many other better options for mine.

That is all true, but even though there's better options, it's hard to have all the best mids.
I think that i would be happy with him as an M8 at the end of the year.

It would hard to look past Danger this year at his starting price around 570k, Adelaide's soft draw I think that he is quite capable of getting back to a 115 ave..

He's someone I've been considering a lot lately, even if he's mid only. If you take out the games in the middle of the season (rounds 10-14, 16) where he was clearly hampered by some sort of injury, his average goes from 106 to 116. And with averages of 113 and 119 in the years previous, I think a lot of people are forgetting just how good an SC scorer he is when fully fit.

Sorry that's terrible logic. You don't want a 100ppg player as M8 by the end, even if slight unders. You want the best possible. There are always players who are improving and you need to jump on their wagon and get them right.

To look at your scenario there, Mids who started the season under $500k but did better than 105ppg include:
Dayne Beams $497,200 115.5ppg
Robbie Gray $442,600 111.1ppg
Luke Parker $468,800 108.5ppg
Nathan Jones $485,700 108.1ppg
Adam Treloar $469,500 107.5ppg
Dyson Heppell $491,400 106.4ppg
Marc Murphy $498,300 106.1ppg

Those are the sorts of players you need to look for next season at the price you suggested, not Sam Mitchell.

Just needs to get back to scoring 130+ more regularly. Injury free I think he can do it.
I think sloane will have the better sc season tho. Less attention compared to danger and is really hitting his straps now

The only thing that I have in the back of my mind, is he can start a season slowly.
In 2014 he started: 107, 73, 99, 87 - ave 92 - and his price dropped $74k from it's opening quote.
In 2013 he started: 63, 107, 84, 120, 89 - ave 93 - and his price dropped $89k from it's opening quote.
In 2012 he started: 93, 92, 99 - ave 95 - and he averaged 119 for the season, or around 123 after those 3 games.
It's a pattern that suggests he can need a few games to hit stride. Having said that, I didn't get him until after the byes in 2014, but I will probably start him if he is M/F Again this season.

The slow starts are a concern. Hopefully he is mid/fwd as I really want to start with sloane in the guts. (Only scored under 100 3 times this year, lowest being 78)
Not alot of talk about old mate crouchy the ball magnet. A few will start with him and I cant blame them 1 bit.
Kid's stats seem to indicate the breakouts not far away and only played 11 games this year.
RICH v CROUCH. Id pay the extra and go crouch

You make an excellent case for him! Dangers SC average for the last 4 years are:

11 - 80.3
12 - 118.9
13 - 112.9
14 - 105.6

On those scores alone I really can't see him going backwards again, his scores last year should be a minimum score for him in years to come. If someone were to gaurantee him to be injury free for the year he would be my first lock.

However watching him this year his body really does take a battery every week and whatever he had affected his SC output. My biggest concern with him is how will his body hold up throughout the year?

Isn't Danger going to be a restricted free agent at the end of 2015? During the year this could play on him mentally, if he has the intention to possibly leave. We have seen players struggle when under contract negotiations during the season before, could this happen to Danger next year?

Having said that, i would lock him in again if he's MID/FWD.

What he said. Also, new coach :)

I was keen on Danger in my early drafted SC teams, but I think I have cooled on him now.

Here's a couple POD's that I'm seriously looking at in my midfield
Watson a proven elite supercoach scorer with ave in previous years 115+.
Had an injury effected year last year, so I would expect him to return to that kind of form next season.
Another one is Prestia..
It was a hard year for Prestia last year, Ablett & benell out for a while also ment he got the tag..
I think this year he could possibly become elliete..
