He's too good to not be coaching, #1 coach going around in my opinion. To take Essendon as far as he did with the obvious list short comings, was nothing short of remarkable.
I reckon he should have a year off to recharge the batteries and come back as a senior coach somewhere in 2016.

Fortunately Essendon have been blessed to have had two great senior coaches in the last two years, with James Hird having won even more games back in 2013 with essentially the same obvious list short comings. :D

Saw this on FB for a laugh...

SURGERY NEWS: Scott Pendlebury is going under the knife today, opting for surgery to extend his neck. Pendlebury has chosen to increase his neck length by 14.5cm in order to fit more Copeland Trophy medals, along with his Premiership medal and Norm Smith medal. Pendlebury now believes that a Brownlow medal will be his next season, with the departure of Dayne Beams to the Lions and Dane Swan looking like he has eaten 260 pies in the off season.

A year off may do him good but I think he's the kinda bloke who slowly builds a head of steam and once it's up he's very hard to stop. The year off May return him to the Bomber who lost the Passion at the cats.

List shortcomings may not have been the right phrase, He did remarkably well with what he had in offer this year with all the injuries you blokes had in Bellchambers, Watson, Pears to name a few off the top of my head.

Clearly a better coach then Hird in most aspects at this point, not saying He won't surpass him but he still has much learning to do.

Big year this year for your lads could set up some very prosperous times, or completely belly flop. Sooner this drugs bull**** is over with the better.

What I really want to know now, is what is happening with Mark Thompson as far as they fine he has not paid ?
I find it funny that the media have only really picked up on or focussed on the unpaid fine in the last month or so. Maybe this is due to the fine only being due recently. However I and many others have known for several months that he was in no hurry to pay the fine, so I assume it would have been fairly common knowledge around the AFL traps.

I was under the impression it was already common knowledge. Many months ago , still during season, a few people in media tried to make a controversy of it then saying he had not paid the fine. I remember it got brought up on press conference to him. He kind of brushed it aside but did not say he would or would not pay the fine but did state the invoice for it was dated for October 30. I think because that date just passed it is natural to now wonder what is happening about that. Both from his end and AFL. I've not been following any news closely in last few weeks but knew that date had gone past and he had not paid yet. Surely the AFL just don't pretend they forgotten about it. I want to see what happens next. Any update today?
All I know is Bomber has finally cut ties with being at Essendon yesterday and some legal crap still going on for Hird appeal on ASADA investigation.

Ah ok thanks! I must have missed that press confrence, or more likely forgot about it. Plus I dare say I had probably tuned out to whoever it was in the media that were making a fuss about it.

Anyway normally if someone hasnt paid a bill the nexts steps are usually to send a reminder notice or two and then either take legal action or send it to the debt collectors. But this is the AFL we are dealing with so who knows what will happen.

Bugger the debt collectors, give us West Aussies a call and we will be happy to send over Daniel Kerr!

Speaking of the Bombers, thought I'd share something especially considering it is only really the diehard hanging around the SC sites at this time of the year.

If you have been considering Nick Kommer as part of your plans, I'd suggest you maybe put those plans on hold for the moment. Still not fully recovered from his injuries to join training yet. Of course it is still only November though.

Doggies about to name coach shortly.

Was talking to a bloke at work and he was telling me Beveridge's CV...very impressive!

Before signing with the Hawks as an assistant at the end of 2011, Beveridge worked at Collingwood as a development coach.

He enjoyed premiership success in the Victorian Amateur Football Association, coaching St Bede's Mentone to three consecutive premierships in different divisions.

Thoughts on Bruest? Missed one H&A game in the last 3 seasons, averaging between 82-86 in each. If consistency and potential to break out are your preference, he could be a good buy at 459K?

Who are Beams, Christensen, Rich and Robinson going to replace in your midfield? When you add in Aish, Redden, Rockliff and Taylor it seems Zorko will be a permanent forward.

I reckon they should try and make Robinson a tagger. He'd be a pain to play on and he's more than tough enough to cop extra physical contact by players trying to free up their star mid. I think he'd actually like the extra attention. I suspect he'll largely be a defensive forward like he was in his best game of the season against Hawthorn.
Great defensive forward games against Essendon in past seasons too.

I can understand that. He is a different type of star. It's his freakish goal kicking ability plus personality that makes him the entertaining footballer he is. Entertainment value is high to watch this little star in action. He can create a goal out of nothing like few other footballers, on a regular basis, whether kicking it himself or forcing defender under pressure with his tackling pressure and speed. He is also a good mark on the lead. His highlight reel is something to see. Best bit about him in action is after you seen it a number of time, you not surprised what tricks he can pull off. One of my favourites is last game at Football Park of Port v Carlton. Now he pulls those tricks off at Adelaide Oval to entertain Crow fans for next 3 or so years.
and great overhead for his size, can't forget his flying against Brisbane at the gabba a couple of years ago.

Full house compared to the normal International Rules teams.
Not to many holes in that team Oz.
Yep, unfortunately too late for mine. I think recent years have killed off my interest for the series. Not sure I'll even bother watching this year. Too much chopping and changing of it's placement of time and meaning for me to care much any more. I honestly think it was time in football to bring back true state of origin footy and the international hybrid game in off season is not replacing that void for me as a pure footy fan. Think the AFL has really stuffed it up in last two decades. March without the clubs playing for a pre-season series is perfect time to make a place for state of origin but the AFL lack of vision is pathetic on this issue, for mine.

The 34 players finally get their infraction notices today.
Hearing to happen Tuesday apparently.

Jake Niall article at "The Age"

Infraction notices have landed for the 34 current and former Essendon players who will face AFL tribunal charges over the use of banned peptide thymosin beta-4.

The infraction notices were issued by the AFL late Friday and the matter will be dealt with next week with a AFL directions hearing on Tuesday to determine the tribunal set-up.

The directions hearing will be chaired by tribunal chairman David Jones.

The charge specifies alleged use of thymosin beta-4 between January 2012 and September 2012.

The AFL will apply provisional suspensions to the players after the issuing of the notices. Since they are not playing, this will have little impact.

An exception is expected to be made for skipper Jobe Watson and veteran Dustin Fletcher, who are members of the International Rules team playing the Irish.

The AFL Commission can make an exception because of the provisional suspensions are subject to the commission's discretion.

I know a lot of players want to and would play. However, what happens if the State of Origin game is played in March (pre season) or in a single bye round (mid season) and a player like Selwood gets injured? We know Selwood would love to play State of Origin and he would go in just as hard and tough as ever. Geelong as a club/team playing for premiership points, don't want to see one of their stars get injured pre-season, mid season or at any point.

This is one of the problems i can see the AFL having, getting the actual clubs on board. Clubs are mostly worried about money and premiership points. Clubs don't want to see their superstars play in a game that doesn't help them financially and an injury could actually hurt them financially. The clubs would want the power over which players they would allow to play State of Origin. However, if the clubs only allow mid-lower end types of players with no real star power, the game will not be very popular from an audience point of view.

As a Carlton supporter, if Murphy or Gibbs got a 8-10 week injury in State of Origin how pi$$ed would you be?
