Reckon there are 3 bargains that stand out( prepared to name - no guts no glory):
Ben Jacobs 309K- will be an absolute gem for Nth (will be in best 22, sensational disposal which dates back to Brighton Grammar games,)
Chris Yarran 362 (based on potentially playing less Defence and more midfield (and less red vests - sub 4 or 5 last year)
Dyson Heppell 450 - moving into midfield, back to where he knows best - killed them in TAC cup whilst playing for Gippsland- Rolls Royce - just needs to continue getting the ball
I'm not picking Ben Jacobs but i read an article on HS website that last year Jacobs could hardly run or jump because he massive problems with his ankles. Bones were pinching nerves, the reason he left Port was so he could world class medical treatment. I'd post a link but i'm not sure how.

Also saw an interview the DT TALK boys did with Kane Mitchell. When asked what roll he expected to play he said defensive half forward and maybe push up to wing, hasnn't done any match simulation in the midfield.

From memory Mitchell still needs to be promoted and Port's injury list is almost non existent so not sure how soon we'll get to see him.

Just thought i'd throw it out there seeing as he is one of the common rookies in peoples teams. Was also interesting that he didn't say the standard 'just want to train hard' & 'play my role'. He was quite specific.

Read that recently and immediately moved him out of my team. Seems like he will be wasted like Magner last year, though could be a handy downgrade if he plays later in the year.

He sure does but is at a difficult price in that a little more cash and you can get yourself a premium MID and not risk it with him.
Also the fact he doesn't have DPP hurts his chances of getting a spot in my midfield.
Cannot see too much downside in Duncan so if you are willing too take a slight risk with a guy who is at a hard price to judge then go for it.

Will be a gun, but don't expect him
to go 110+ this year. I think he'll improve his consistency a lot this year and go 90-100, but 2014 will be his year fantasy wise. If he had DPP I would say he is a good pick, but as a pure mid I would avoid. Christensen in the forwards is a better pick I think, as I believe he will post a similar average to Duncan.

four guys that have hardly been mentioned:
c howard (wb)
s Atley (nth)
a cooney (wb)
t cloke (coll)

All totally underpriced and seem set for a good year. they also have plenty of upside.

Howard and Atley will hopefully dominate, Cooney is too risky with his knee and was never the best SC scorer (only 107 average in his best year) and Cloke is not going to be a top 6 forward so I would avoid.

cooney has undergone radical treatment and is pain free and tearing it up. cloke doesnt have to stress about the contract anymore and concentrate on averaging 90's like he did the past couple of seasons.

Everyone says to pick mid pricers that could potentially break into the top 10 of their field i.e. def/mid/fwd. good luck trying to find that gents and ladies......all the top 10s are already priced at 550 and above.

Not sure what your point is? The whole point is if you pick a mid pricer that turns out to be top 10 scorer you have saved ypurself trades throughout season and $$ at the start of season. ie. Dangerfield start 2012 average 80 $435k end of 2012 average 118 $646k. Also the 10th highest averaging defender is Hamish Hartlett At $489k average 91, if you can pick a mid price defender at 350-400k to average 95 your laughing.

Why is no one talking about disown heppells inability to run out games last year. Surely this is gonna have an effect on his ability to go midfield this year. The kid is good but he is still a kid does he really have a midfield engine yet?

Re Dyson Heppell.

He should at the very least maintain his average however I am not sure that he will have a major jump in SC scores yet. While he will spend more time in the midfield and is a really natural and delightful player to watch I don't think he accumulates enough possessions yet to have consistent big SC scores. He has only managed to get 5 100's in 42 games. If I was to have a guess I would say he will play 20 games at around an average of 92.

Matches pretty well with my pre-season guestimate of 21 games at 89. :)

Does anyone have the inside word on Lachie Whitfield? He may be 80k more, but I thought he was guaranteed a spot.
