Hey Rowsus.

I posted this in X vs Y but thought I'd ask here as well.

1. I need to choose two out of Pendles, Beams and Selwood (to complement Ablett, JPK and Fyfe)

2. Which two rucks out of Goldy, Minson, Lobbe and Mumford? I am leaning towards Goldy and Minson as a set and forget combo.

Cheers mate.

Rowsus. I know we are thinking it - how much do we take out of Doch's game last night? He played well and I heard that he had a 90% pre-season this year whereas last year it was about 20%. Of course it was his highest score by 37 points, so lets not get carried away heh...

Still, a question remains - with the Blues playing WCE next week, a game they should go ok in, what score does Doch need for you to decide that he requires a corrective trade to get him in ala DSwallow last year?

Cheers. Hope the dinner was/is good ;)

Hi Rowsus,
What are your thoughts on Bellchambers? He's really tempting me as he has just been named as the solo ruck for this weekend. I have Goldstein at R1 and I did have NN at R2 but I've switched to Bellchambers. What do you think? Thanks

Hi Rowsus, how do you think you will go this year. Saw your pain with Docherty non selection last night.

Had the first team locked but now second guessing my selections with lack of forward rookies playing and have a 2nd version.

The differences in squads are: Backs Lumumba - Malceski Mids: Neale/Rich - Griffin/Miller Fwds: Lamb (only one can afford) - Saad (think he will get more games)

If advice/criticism would be most appreciated.

Good luck for 2015

Cheers Saint

Hi Rowsus

Had an interesting thought.

Birchall declared fit this week but not named in the Hawthorn side, surely will play next week. I've currently got Hibberd in my side, a player I rate on par with Birchall supercoach wise, but was picked over Birchall due to him not playing round 1. Both players will be lacking match fitness early but I see both as solid 90-95 averages across the year. Also believe Birchall may play more upfield this year with Gibson potentially filling the HB role due to Frawley arriving and partnering Lake as KPP Defenders, this is just a guess though so would love a hawks fans opinion on this.

I've got Macintosh sitting on my bench atm with a score of 120~ and the big E sitting on him. Could it be a viable move to make the swap of Hibberd to Birchall and essentially guaranteeing a 120 score in Birchalls season average for my team, knowing that he will play next week? This is barring any late withdrawals for my other defenders this week. Would be a good POD too I reckon, what are your thoughts on this move?

Thanks again for all your help this preseason, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this :)

Hey Rowsus,

Why has everyone jumped off Brodie Smith? It seems a couple of average NAB games scared everyone away, and with him being named on the wing I'm strongly considering him over Gibson/Shaw at D1.

Also is 4 premium mids out of 5 with a round 12 bye too much? Is it worth cutting one of them (say Fyfe for Selwood) if I think Fyfe will score more points overall?

Cheers :)

Hey Rowsus, just a quick one.

Any observations on how the new ruck scoring effected last nights players?

Or is it still far too little data to make any real conclusions?

Looking at Marics score I thought he was worth more then the 82 to be fair. He wasn't electric by any means but that score seems low. Has to
Be the new scoring you'd think?

On that subject does anyone know where we can find hit out adv %s for the game?

Hey Rowsus,

Like myself , I am disappointed in not picking Doherty after liking all pre-season. But I guess its early days.

Just a quick question.
Struggling to select fwd bench. Currently have A. Saad and Lamb
Should I stick with Saad? Coming back from drug ban and has obviously played before.
Or should I look at Lonie?
No longer sold on Salem at that price, so looking at other options.
Need to pick two out of Lamb, Lonie and Saad. (Unless there are any others)
Hey Slammer,
I guess when you evaluate things like the Docherty decision, you need to look at/remember 3 things:
It's only 1 game, he still might be a 85/game player.
He won't be able to maintain a 40% CP rate, and 90+ DE%
We need to look at the others we changed our mind on. I bet we dodged a few bullets, as well as having a Docherty or two.

It's the age old Rookie question. Do we go with the Rookie we think has the better JS, or the better scoring/earning potential?
I would think JS-wise the order is Saad, Lamb, Lonie and earning wise it might be Lamb, Lonie and Saad.
I guess that would make Lamb one of your two, and you toss up Saad's probable 50-60 average, against Lonie's possible poor JS, but may be better scores. When the benches are finalised (will that still be today, like it usually is?) it may make your decision for you.

Hey Bobbie,
you could make an argument to drop any of those 3 out, but I am a bit worried about Beams getting through the season without a niggle or two. It could happen to all 3, but I just think Beams is the most likely to miss more games than the other 2, so I'd go Pendles/Jelwood.

Sorry to say it, Bobbie, but time to take those Red, White and Blue goggles off. We have no reason to believe Minson is more than a mid-high 90's trundler in SC. I would take Goldy, and then look at what you might do with the extra cash, if you take Lobbe over Mummy. Mummy has the greatest scoring potential early on, but he usually hits a wall. If you take Mummy I'd want coverage or an exit plan.

PC, I can see a few differences between Docherty and last years Swallow. We need to put last night into context.
It was 1 game. I can't see Docherty continuing at anything like: 43% CP rate, 91% DE, or 6.4 SC/Disp. I won't be looking at his score next week, but more his game.
Let's look at a scenario that he scores 120 next week. What do you think he will average for the season? Going into the season I had him down for low 90's. One of the greatest sins in SC is drastically changing your assessment on a player on the back of few games. Up or down. Let's say you decide he might now be a 95 player, instead of 92. 95 x 22 - 267 (already scored) = 91/game from Round 3 on anyway. I wouldn't be rushing him in to my team in Rnd 3 on the back of another good score next week. Knee-jerking, point chasing trades are nearly always going to end in tears. Remember, this 147 will only affect one price change, so we don't need to panic that he will get away from us, price-wise, too quickly.

ps - my wife cancelled on the dinner, due to a headache. :(

He aleceee,
I think that unless you really liked TBC before hand, then changing your team on the back of one weeks selections is not a good move. For all we know Giles will be in next week.

Hi Saint,
My season will depend on my patience. My wife says I am the least patient man on Earth, so that's not a good sign! :p
While I'm not sold on Malceski's value, I like the second team better. I think Griffen could score well early, and Saad should have ok JS. Miller could be a good Cash cow. I think it just has it over the first team.

Thanks Rowsus. I decided on a 5 premo mid of Ablett, Pendles, Selwood, Fyfe and JPK. A lot of money spent but they should all be in the top mids at the end of the season.

As for rucks......okay I'll take those goggles off and reassess! I like Lobbe but worried about the potential Ryder-effect. I'm not sold on NN and I had Lycett there for a couple of days but that didn't feel right either.

Hi MrM,
I think, if you are confident Birhall will be back in Rnd 2 or Rnd 3, and you rated him and Hibberd on a par, and expected to have them both soon anyway, it's a stroke of pure genius! Well thought out, well done!

Thanks Rowsus, kind of the answer I expected. I can see the role he played being undertaken by other players in other games. That said, he did look good last night and is going to be a quality player. What is the difference between him and DSwallow last year? Mid time? Age?

Sorry to hear about your dinner :(

Hey dyii,
I think it's a combination of things, but mainly these 2 things.
Most Coaches were a bit cautious about using too much money in the back line this season. It's the least productive area of the field, and the Premiums there are the easiest to reach during the season. It was compounded by a lack of Def Rookies, causing most Coaches to have only 3 Rookies, and that cuts off how much you can spend on the non-Rookies, before you lose a Mid or Fwd Prem to pay for it all.
Given not many will start both of Simpson and Smith, Simpson was the much easier pick. Smith has one good season, and Simpson has consistency up the wazoo!

Hi Hirdofme?,
I haven't seen anything in his history, or NAB Cup, that gives me the impression he will score in the low 80's, which is what I'd want if I started him. Being in the leadership group doesn't increase his SC score, contrary to what some people seem to think. To be honest, it doesn't even increase his JS!
