Are you going 1 week early on a cash cow for Lamb Rowsus if Lonie stinks it up?
Nahhhh.
If Lonie gives me a useable score, I will go Swallow to Selwood.
If Lonie stinks it up, I will go Anderson to Krakouer/Young.
Lamb will likely become Krakouer/Young next week.

I'm going Bartel to one of Krakouer or Tarrant but still haven't made up my mind! All things going well :p I will end up with both of them next week but I'm trying to work out risk v reward. Port play Hawthorn and if they have a dirty night Krakouer could be an easy one to drop given he is "new". I think North have more chance of beating Geelong and think Tarrant will give me more points on the ground than Krakouer. Krakouer is a better pick if they both go wrong and Tarrant is a better pick if they both go right. Should I be optimistic or pessimistic?

Interested to hear your thoughts on Macmillan Rowsus.

Played the first game (71) then missed the next 2.

Just been withdrawn from the team for tomorrow as well.

$270k sitting on the bench feels like a waste.

Not sure of the nature of the injury, but it's definitely frustrating.

My backline is as follows;

Birchall, Kelly, Saad, Oxley, Hibberd, Ibbotson (McIntosh, Macmillan)

Macmillan has an achilles injury, which is a major red flag as they are very difficult to overcome without significant rest. He'll be managed and limited for the remainder of the season. Use him to upgrade to a Smith or Simpson.

Thanks for the info. It was a toss up between him and Goodes at D6.

On the plus side, he isn't losing money.

Might wait for a week or 2 for some cash (only $15k in the bank so can't upgrade in 1 trade).

Thanks again for the insight.

I think you've summed it up pretty well. You have too look at it from an optimistic point of view. It seems silly to trade in a player if you are pessimistic. Tarrant might be the way to go, as I think you are right, North are the more likely winners out of North and Port.

He's obviously an injury risk player, with limited scope for cash generation. Trade him down to a bubble boy, or up to a Premium, when the opportunity presents itself.

Quick one Rowsus...

Swan v Franklin
Smith v Birchall
Swan
Smith, though I think he will be cheaper later, after the "demise" of Mr Consistency Simpson, Smith is looking like the only lock for a top 6 Def finish.

Hi Rowsus,

Have two trades on the horizon this week. McGrath to Tarrant and Heeney/Anderson to Krakouer.

Does the McGrath to Tarrant trade for example make sense even though Im not getting any cash out of it initially, ie the value is all on the backend so to speak?

How do you weigh up the benefit of having a strategic floating donut and maximising scores vs maximising cash generation, ie, potentially Salem to Tarrant instead for example.

Currently running two donuts in McGrath and (potentially) Anderson.

How do you see it?

Hi Rowsus

Thanks for the advice this week, worked a treat. :) Who knew being optimistic works!

I'm thinking about bringing in Harvey or Ryder? I've got 3 fwd keepers to get and 1 spot will hopefully be for Robbie Gray in a few weeks. With Deledio and Bartel off the list it looks like a more open race for F5 and F6. I think I can still get Harvey at the same price next week as the Roos play Hawthorn. Do you think Ryder will be a decent F6 or possibly R2, or do I bring in Harvey this week?

Cheers

Hi Rowsus. Thanks for the advice last week - the McEvoy to Grundy trade was a success!

I am hoping you can take a quick look at my team. I have $141,800 in the bank with 27 trades left. My big issues are Newnes and Lumumba and I'm not sure how (or if) I fix them. I am thinking of going Anderson to Krak as it makes a little bit of cash but also gives me a mid/fwd link. I can then either grab Tarrant on the bubble for Lamb or upgrade one of my problem children in defence. I could get Hibberd and still have ~$110K in the bank.

Other options are to cull Heeney early and keep Anderson as a loophole donut (if he's not named), and/or or cull Salem a bit early and use Lamb in the same manner.

Is it wise to concentrate on getting the two rookies on the bubble or choose one and focus on fixing up my defence? I have moved up a bit in the rankings this week and am currently 2,784th - not outstanding but probably the best start to season I've had.

Thanks as always.

I'm looking at Anderson/Lamb to Krakouer/Tarrant.
It means I don't get Young, and I really wanted him before Round 1, but you can't get them all!
Rowsus, just quoting from the "Round 5 Trades" thread, but wanted to get your thoughts on some people's theory to keep the likes of Anderson/Lamb as EGM loopholes, and instead trade out players like Salem, Heeney, NVB, etc.

I agree that the loopholes can help, and would have helped quite a bit last week, but wouldn't it be best to assume that if these other players are still going to make some money in the long-term, it's worth keeping them (as opposed to gaining a small points advantage)?

For example, I used Anderson as the loophole this week for Vandenberg, and if he didn't come through, I would have put Miller on the field. But even if I hadn't used the loophole, I'd have likely started Vandenberg anyway.

Sorry for the rambling, just interested in your thoughts. Personally I'm looking at Anderson to Krakouer and McGrath to Tarrant.

I am keeping ando/MgGrath not for loophole but because I make no money from trading them. Loophole bonus

Hey Row,

Similar to a few of the questions above, what are your thoughts on getting Tarrant and / or Krakouer? And would it be better to trade them for playing rookies such as Heeney in the middle and Salem / Clark in the forward..or the non playing ones Anderson / Lamb but lose the loophole.

Also, like most, my defence is still a rabble. I will stick with Lumumba and Newnes for now, but Kelly (B/E 130) has to go. If i was to straight swap to Malceski (B/E 150) would it be better to do that this week or next? Same question if i was to upgrade to Smith (B/E 153) All of their prices will drop, just not sure how much and if its better to make that trade now or wait a week if i need to get both Krak and Taz.

Thanks in advance!

Scrap the Malceski part..he has just been ruled out for a couple of weeks. I will add another question though. I could downgrade Geelong's Kelly to Adelaide's Kelly, although that means i need to field two of Kelly, Oxley, McIntosh or Saad, but im still not confident on any defenders. If i did that trade it would free up cash to get any premo on any line. If that is the case is it better to pick the best player (likely a mid) or to get one of Tarrant / Krakouer for Lamb / Salem

Thanks again.

The problem that is LYCETT

What to do dear Rowsus...

Started with him as ruck cover insurance hoping for 70's but to date he's scoring less than my forward rookies.

I want to downgrade to a couple of cash cows this week to generate cash for future upgrades, but apart of Heeney, I don't have any other rookies ready to cull yet. I'm going to ride the Newnes/Lumumba combo out a bit more as that's the last area which I will look to upgrade. So this leads me to the Lycett question...thinking of throwing away the 'key to the lock' at this stage and buying a more suitable key when I need to.

Is 385K too much to buy potential ruck cover, especially now that I'm considering sitting him on the bench?

On the flip side of the coin, Fremantle and GWS are yet to have an opposing Ruck record a season high, or second highest score against them. Freo play Melbourne, so that is largely irrelevent, but GWS play WC, which means NicNat may be in for a quiet day again, as will Lycett. I have Lycett, and I have now shifted him to R3, so I can use O'Brien as a loophole tool this week in the Fwd line. I figure loopholing Lonie/Clark might produce a higher score than Lycett against GWS anyway! Lycett showed so little willingness to chase the ball, or his direct opponent yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised if he got dropped. I would fix him, but I have more pressing matters for my trades this week!
Just read through your 'Ruck Draw Analysis' thread and interested in your comments/observations re Lycett. Are you thinking of doing away with the key to the lock as well?

Hi Rowsus!

I was patient last week and it paid off nicely! best score so far for the year! so thanks again for your help!

I would like to bring in Krak and Tarrant this week. Do you think out of Salem, Lonie and Heeney, that Heeney is the one to go?

Big chance Ando will be back this week, and Puopolo is injured. Still may be a sub again though and so that 24 point BE looks tough to get.

Hi Rowsus, I am back for my weekly annoying question ;)

How much weight do you place on a player's venue average?

I am interested in Boak as a mid upgrade: he has bottomed in price, has a good bye (for me), has a reasonable history (2013 - 106/21, 2014 - 105/21), the quality taggers are disappearing (Vince, Picken remaining?) and the Port draw opens up a lot after this week.

His average at Adelaide Oval is what is really getting me interested - 114 - with Port having 10/18 games at AO for the rest of the season. I know there is a lot of fluff talk about 'the stronghold' for Port etc etc, but do you think it does have some impact on a player's performance?

Cheers in advance! :D

G'day Rowsus,

Is Young coming into your side this week?

Once again I had a shocker... Sloane capt.
Looks like though I made two reasonable trades in bringing in Swan and Krak early.
However the defence seems to be my main problem with TBC also not helping
I have $110k in the bank and still have Wallis on mid bench.
With my backline of Broadbent, Newnes, lumumba all struggling do I upgrade and leave Wallis?
Was thinking Newnes has to go and possibly Lumumba or do I look at upgrading Wallis
Newnes to Hibberd maybe ?
