Hey Rowsus,

Just a quick one.
I still have Lambert on mid bench. Every other bench spot atm is a rookie that is getting a game.
With the extended bench, do I just keep Lambert or trade him to Tarrant.
With the extra mid bench spot this year I am thinking of bypassing Tarrant and just using Lambert as a loophole
Any thoughts?
Hey Slammer,
if you are confident you can raise enough cash going forward, or doubtful on Tarrants reliability to get much more than $100k in growth, then why not sit on Lambert a bit longer. He still serves a purpose.

Hi Adrenaline, congratulations on your start, and for showing patience last week! It's not an easy thing to do!
Given your plan for the extra cash, Lamb/Salem to Krak/Tarrant sounds good.
If you don't need the extra $40k to go Goodes to Smith next week, then if Heeney is missing, or sub, use him instead of Salem.
Good luck :)
Hi row

After this weeks carnage I have locked in one trade which is lamb to Tarrant however if I go heeney to krak I will have 469.000 for a def. I think the best option will be Simpson but I'm not convinced by his scoring output despite his scoring history in past years. If I trade Salem to krak I will have around 510 and more options. The danger is the risks associated with the trade as we are not sure if heeney will play next week and I'll have 2 donuts in the midfield. Do you think if Simpson is a good buy or is it best to wait for 2 weeks and get someone like smith?

Hi Rowsus,

What's your plan of action with Lycett?
I also have him, and was thinking a straight downgrade to Krak/Tarrant?

Hi Ad,
Simpson has been so consistent over a number of years, that I do believe he can turn it around. Remember, you're not looking for him to be a season top 6-8 Def, just a top 6-8 Def from the time you bring him in. Simpson's B/E is 133, and his recent scores against Collingwood are: 94, 109, 69, 74, 58, 73. It's a pretty ordinary record, for someone so consistent. Smith has a B/E of 153 and his recent scores against Port are: 32, 125, 57, DNP. both are likely to be in the top Defs from here to the end of the season, but both should get a decent drop in price. I think sometimes we need to ignore a highish B/E, as if we always wait a week on them, you might miss a really good score to save what might turn out to be only $10k. In this case, I would wait though, and if I was targetting one, it would likely be Smith before Simspon. If that means waiting, I don't think that will hurt to much, in this case.

Hi Halfy,
I haven't quite decided yet. I have Lycett, Clarke and Lamb causing problems in my Fwd line, with added burdeon of Swan and Gray facing possible late outs.
At this stage I am tossing up a complete downgrade to a Tarrant/Krakouer, like yourself, or going up to Ryder to hopefully do the job Lycett couldn't.

Interesting you should mention that as I'm currently weighing up the PROS and CONS of replacing Lycett with a like for like or 'throwing away the key' and turn him into a FWD Premium.

I see the benefits of swapping like for like, only thing is we've only seen the Lobbe/Ryder for 1 game. Ryder averaged 12 disposals and 24 HOs in the opening 3 games and last week had 12 disposals/21 HOs to Lobbe 8 disposals/17 HOs, could be due to PAD easing Lobbe back into the thick of things. If Ryder can average 90 from hereon, I think it's a viable option over the forward premium route due to the added bonus or ruck cover.

I think the lure of ruck cover has Ryder just ahead at this moment...any thoughts?

I actually had a short pm conversation with someone about this earlier in the week, before we knew Lycett was deservedly dropped. You'd really have loved to see another 2 or 3 games of the Lobbe/Ryder combo before comitting to Ryder. The option is there to wait a week, shift Lycett to R3, or downgrade him, and see how Lobbe/Ryder go against Sauce before deciding. As I said in the original post, I'm still weighing my options! :)

Lycett to Zac Clarke?

In 2013 he had an ave of 96 when Freo had their best ever season and is listed Ruc/Fwd. Breaks the don't trade sideways rule though.

He's a good player, with a decent scoring record, but I'm really worried about those knees!
Had a couple of lots of surgery on his right knee, then jarred his left knee in Round 2, and missed half a game.
Combine that with his game count: 5, 3, 13, 14, 14, 19 - and I'm really worried it will lead to chain trading.
Lycett probably needs fixing, so it's not completely sideways.

Looking at Tarrants BE and projections he should easily make $100K.
Coupled with the fact that I now have a couple of loophole options in Clark and Heeney I may bring bring him in for Lambert.
It just feels weird that I have Wallis $349K still sitting on the bench waiting for that mid upgrade target.
Due to his injury and not quite fulfilling his stepping stone role, I have no use for the cash yet from him where I can turn him to a Premo mid.

Hey Rowsus,
What do you think about H Bennel? As I said in my last post, I'm thinking of trading out Heeney for Tarrant and then I'm thinking about doing Van Berlo to Bennel and then swinging him to the forwards in a week or twos time. Do you think he can lift his scoring now that Swallow is out?

Hey Rowsus

Is there any merit in downgrading to Jack Steele instead of Robbie Tarrant? The way i see it is:

a) He's been tearing it up in the reserves so is bound to get a game soon
b) Even if he doesnt play soon he will be a useful floating donut due to his M/F eligibility (swap with Krakouer) which is something i dont have atm
c) The extra $27k saved gives me extra insurance to make the upgrades i want to make next week, as if I go to Tarrant i may be cutting it very fine depending on price rises/falls after this weekend

Looking forward to hearing your reply. Thanks

Hey aleceee,
I think it could definitely help Bennell. He might get just a smidge more attention from opposition teams, but I can see it giving his score a little boost most weeks. I don't think we are talking a big boost though.

Hey MrM,
it sort of sounds like they are being chosen for different purposes. One to raise cash, one to be a loopholing tool until he gets a game. Keeping in mind that Steele may get the "T Mitchell" treatment, you need to ask yourself which do you need more, another cash producing cow or a loopholing tool?

Hi Rowsus

Me again ;)

I read a post from you a few days ago about building (upgrading) lines by lines without finishing the house (obviously not verbatim). My plans have revolved around atleast moving to 5 def premos (thus next week I'll upgrade 1 and maybe correct one (Newnes)). My logic behind this is finding rookies to replace each line and I believe that if Oxley, Tosh and Saad stop mooing at the same time I will be in a world of hurt with lack of replacement options. I agree that we need to take the best upgrade option available, but do you think there is merit in prioritising the bank line first (assuming their are suitable options).

Cheers

Hi _Slip_,
if you are confident with the picks you are making there, and you are not paying too much over the top of their potential low price (we can't get them all at their lowest, I guess!), then there's nothing wrong with starting there. It's the line that has the best margin for error, so in one way, if you have all the other picks you are confident in on other lines, that are not looking set to drop further in price, the Def is a good spot to start.
The main thing with these early upgrades is confidence. It's no good taking risky picks in one line, if there are safer picks you are more confident about in other lines.

Rowsus thankyou for the prompt response. All I can say is go Dees I have $50 on the nose this week vs Freo. Call me retarded but I think there could be an upset brewing.

Hi WHW,
I think Jacobs will be a clear 2nd pick. He has a good game count record, and he does ok around the ground, and that's more important than ever this season.
Thanks Rowsus. I'm thinking the same but conscious that the leading ruckman from the previous year rarely backs it up the following year (Cox being the exception).

Tarrant is a tougher decision than he looks at first glance. Yes, he's guaranteed to go up $62k just by running on the park, but I'd hate to get him, only to have him make just over $100k, and be of absolutely no loopholing his score onto the ground value.
As to your Defs, Hibberd does look like he is priced well, and the only one outside of the obvious picks I can recommend you look at is R Murphy. The problem is, he is more expensive than Hibberd. Murphy is in less than 3% of teams, and being an experienced/older Captain in a young team helps him "demand" the ball. I started with him, and I've been pleased so far. :)
Hey anfa, hopefully you considered R Murphy! :D

Considered yes, trade in no LoL His age turned me away. I also considered Houli but didn't trade him in either  I think i'm just gonna follow everyone else and pick up Tarrant. I don't particularly like the trade but he's in enough teams (31%) that he could hurt me if i don't have him.
