11 / 1332. C played (Read). Played it safe and grabbed Fyfe's VC score.

Up against the great man IDIG in our league and looks as though he has me covered.
Shaw, Rich, Lewy Taylor, Lonie, Newnes, Goldy, Pendles, Swanny, Oxley, Vandenberg and Lumumba yet to play.
Not expecting any miracles with this lot.

Nah close one i reckon mate. You've had my measure over the last couple of seasons so i'm hoping i might finally get a win against you. I'd say you've won the last 3 or 4 times lol

If i've calculated it right, it comes down to:

241 points + Tarrant

vs

Goldstein, Rich, Taylor, Lonie

I think he will be good for the run - was rusty but he was so awsome in the first few games, i don't think we have seen his ceiling yet. If you though at the start of the year that you could straight swap K McIntosh for Brodie Smith would you do it?!? I have him and would be very happy if people don't jump on him....bargain in my opinion!!
Would def be grabbing him if I didn't already have him
Cheers guys. I'm just worried about Hodge/Gibson tbh. Grabbing Smith effectively means i'll miss out on one of those two which could mean some very painful matchups later on.

Massive difference in price though

While it's still fresh in everyone's mind, how did Brodie Smith go in his return game yesterday?

13 kicks, 7 handballs, 5 marks, 1 tackle, 5 contested, 1 clearance, 3 clangers, 55% DE, 85% TOG, 67 SC

Is he still the worthwhile upgrade in round 12 after his bye? Will be $340k give or take so we might actually make some coin trading Ox/Saad out for him

Agree with all of this. New owner this week, so bear that in mind.

I'm not surprised yesterday was a poor score - I had planned to get him in round 12 at a lower price and with a potential poor first-up score and his bye out of the way. My concerns around Oxley not delivering (m)any points this week meant that I went early.

Smith had very poor DE early (possibly zero, with two clangers, from his first four touches if I recall correctly?) and built into it. I only saw parts of the game but he seemed a bit hesitant early/was perhaps not making great decisions. Later on the commentators pointed out that he had put himself in harm's way to take a good contested mark, so his two concussions (apparently his first two ever) have not made him gun-shy. That's a big plus as I see it.

I'm almost 100% sure the Herald-Sun missed his goal assist to Betts in the fourth quarter - he had two score assists for most of the game and finished on that number. I don't know whether that implies he has been under-scored from an SC perspective, but it might.

Clearly I would have preferred to wait on him, and/or for him to deliver a bigger score, but I would still be bringing him in in R12 if I didn't already have him. 20 touches with higher DE should deliver scores well ahead of his price later in the season, and he was averaging 88 prior to his second concussion (but including the impact of the first) so I think he can still be a keeper, especially with the ongoing def uncertainty.

Thoughts on Yeo's role with Selwood back? Will he continue to pull those decent scores?

Selwood seemed to be playing a def/mid role and Yeo a mid/fwd role when they played together against St Kilda. This may well continue with Selwood's match fitness an issue and Yeo contributing goals whilst he rests up forward.

And if you could play off half back for the remainder of the season, that would be great too!

Oh, will be close.
BTW - Nice Wines trade in. As soon as I saw Ports final team, I traded him in (for the 2nd time this year)
Didn't realize that you had also done the same trade.

No late changes for the early game. Will Hoskin-Elliott and Liam Dawson are the subs for the Giants and Lions respectively. #AFLGiantsLions

Gibson vs Yeo has been troubling me all week. Yeo is better for byes but I could probably manage to bring in a round 11 bye player too. Gibson has the better history but does he need to rely on Lake and Frawley to play so he can roam free? On the other hand, looking at Yeo's first 3 rounds I am worried he will go back to his previous role and start producing those scores again. I guess you probably can't go wrong with either but perhaps Gibson is a safer pick????

Can someone just make the decision for me?!:D

When in doubt take the cheaper option, and then use that cash wisely.

Have no fears about his midfield time... That is where we want him to play and that is where he will play. He will as a midfielder floating fwd at times to take a grab and kick a goal. His defender days should be over as we have young Barrass coming through playing great in the WAFL and demanding a debut as a defender.

Thanks for the insight. So you don't see Selwood's return affecting him?

No not really. I think Scooter is going to return to a tagging defensive midfield role that he played in previous years.

Yeo offers so many more characteristics that that our other mids don't... that he has to be played there, In fact he is second at the club for center stoppage attendances behind only Priddis this year.

Add to that the fact Simpson has publicly declared that he wants Yeo in the middle and that he also wants to give more opportunities to the younger mids rather than relying on the older mids. This will see the older mids in Priddis, Selwood, Rosa all drift back or fwd at times with the younger mids like Yeo, Sheed and Duggan all playing mainly through the middle.

Simpson's aim is to get these young mids up to speed in the middle so we then have a very large number of players able to run through the middle each week. It's why your seeing guys like LeCras spend more time in the guts each week.

I think so, give smith a few games back and he will clean up his disposal and start posting decent scores. If you had known at the start of the season you could make money on a trade from Oxley to smith every man and his dog would have jumped at the chance!
