Its bigger picture stuff for me.
If youve had anything to do with junior footy, this is a big deal.
Like it or not, these guys, these guys are idolised & their acts are repeated, good & bad by kids aus wide.

Thats why it needs to stop
Agree wholeheartedly,

My 13yo son is still limping around today after getting a corky on sunday.

That moment when you wish you picked Martin instead.

@Stevo7AFL: Harley Bennell strong chance to return from exile this weekend ... But will not play ones. Twos looming if he gets nod @7NewsMelbourne

Hmmm I'm tempted to go Bennell to Ablett, then use my last 2 trades to get enough coin to get in another premium FWD like Lids in the coming weeks.
Might be worth it.

I'm still keeping him for one more as I don't mind looping Mckernan with Steele. This is the last week though... if he isn't back by round 17 my patience will have run out! If he is back next week though I think he will be a good POD to have with the suns probably winning a few more in the run home. I have no patience for Selwood though... 1 week suspension was just the excuse I need to turf him lol

Just saw footage on AFL 360 of Mitchell 'defending himself' against Griffen from an earlier game this season.

Removed any doubt for me, 100% deliberate act.

Yeah i've never considered Mitchell to be an especially dirty player (no more than any other player similar to PC) but i think raising the knee is not in the spirit of the game. But there a whole LOT of things i don't think are in the spirit of the game which continue to go on so I wouldn't be taking it personally if i was in the Mitchell camp on this one.

Anyway, i think we can put this one to rest, Sammy by his own omission said it's not a good look and will work on different techniques to protect himself.
Perfectly said IDIG, agree 100%

lol not meant to be a personal attack on Drew, just a general comment to anyone who is up in arms about this whole corking business. It's a corkey for goodness sakes!

How would I feel this week? I would honestly hope that my players were hard enough to not give a rats backside about something as minor as a corkey. I said it a few times, if there was a danger of serious injury, or if he chose to raise his knee and got him in the gonads / stomach / face then i agree. He's chosen to do something sketchy and caused harm, so he should be suspended. Corkeys just seem so minor to me. He's also not seeking people out, and i guarantee he's not the only player who delves into grey areas to try and hurt his opponent. It really doesn't bother me one bit. To me it's in the same category as standing on someones foot, punching them in the arm or pinching them. Yes, it's unsportsmanlike, but they are grown men playing a contact sport so I would expect they are used to having their legs banged up a little bit.

Having said that, Fyfe's front on spoil on Djureya didn't bother me either - even if it was deliberate and late. It didn't bother me in the 2008 when Hodgey went into the game with broken ribs and people tried to rough him up before the opening bounce. Do you know what he did? Held his arms up in the air and let them hit him clean in the ribs. That's what you want to see, hardness (not the punching). It's not a big deal!

Ask yourself this question - if the Taylor Walker incident had not happened earlier this year, would this have even been looked at? My honest opinion - no chance in hell.
Geez mate you've clearly never had a real deep corked thigh before haha.

The fact it already happened with Walker is the point of the issue though. It's a reoccurring thing with him and it has the potential to cause harm. Everyone loves to see a bit of the rough stuff in our game but sneaky things like this need to be stamped out immediately.

I agree with you There's nothing hard or tough about deliberately trying to injure someone like they did to Hodge. Makes Mitchell's actions all the worse.

That is disgraceful, the company line has been that hes been protecting himself.
Runs at Griffen to knee him miles off the ball while hes not even watching, has to stop.
3 times this year, cmon Sam,you have young kids
