Interesting...what's your reasoning behind Merrett?
His average is trending upwards. He should improve with natural progression. He will likely play as a pure mid and probably would have even if all the Essendon players were available. He is a tackling machine. He will probably win the Dons best and fairest this year.

I think he will average 95-100 which is decent for a forward keeper.

All great points and are the reasons why he is sitting at F4 for me as well at this stage. Like you Ben, I can't bring myself to pick Buddy (who has been in every single one of my SC teams), I need to avoid any injury/suspension prone players, and with Buddy's mental health a potential problem also I am not willing to take such a risk.

Adopting the following 4-4(1*)-2-4 structure for Keepers, where the 1* is Libba as he's almost a given for most teams.

D: McVeigh, Bartel, Yeo, Smith
M: Fyfe, Pendles, Ablett, Rockliff, Libba
R: Goldy, Martin
F: Deledio, Dusty, Dahlhaus, Barlow

How does your current team and structure compare with what the majority of SCS members think?

How many of the above players do you currently have in your team?

In 2015, SCS had 35 members ranked in the Top 1,000 (taken from SCS Group)...of those:
19 SCS members were ranked in the Top 500 and
5 SCS members were ranked in the Top 100!

Are you an overall player or are you excited by the prospect of swimming against the current?

Whatever your inclination, make sure you have REALISTIC expectation and a GET OUT plan.

Enjoy the SC preseason and hope you all achieve your goals for SC 2016!

FWIW - I currently on have 7 of the above players so am hoping for the tide to turn!

My concern with Zachary, as with all the Bombers players is that most weeks they will be smashed so there will not be a lot of points to go around. Maybe not so relevant for players with a cheap price tag, but for the premos it certainly limits their ceiling.

Defence: Shaw, K.Kolo, Bartel, Yeo, Francis, M. Brown (Wagner, M.Brown)
Mids: Pendlebury, Ablett, JPK, Rockliff, Libba, Parish, Trengrove, Kerridge (Petracca, Freeman, Mathieson)
Rucks: Goldstein, Lobbe (Naismith)
Fwds: D.Martin, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Bird, Kennedy, Cockatoo (Long, King)

$20,500 left in the bank. Thoughts? Also any rookies I have missed?

I suppose I'm swimming pretty strongly against the current right now.

You both make valid points. All three of Merrett, Greene and Boomer have potential positives and negatives.

Any other ideas?

I still think Merrett can easily average enough to warrant selection. Here's just two examples of players that were able to have decent averages in teams that got destroyed:

In 2011 when the Suns won just 3 games and lost most of them by more than 10 goals, Michael Rischitelli averaged 95.7 (In a team where Ablett averaged 127.1)

In 2012 when the Giants won just 2 games and lost most of them by more than 10 goals, Toby Greene averaged 94.6 (In a team where Ward averaged 106.5)

I think Merrett is a much better player than both Rischitelli and Greene and he may even be the highest scoring Bomber this season so I think it is entirely possible that he averages 95+

Great points for! I am considering Zerrett quite strongly as well. The fact that he's a definite centre square starter should result in at least some improvement in TOG and his disposal count which should make a 95 average achievable.

The tag is a bit of a concern for me. Would teams put strong tags onto him when they'll probably win anyway? Goddard, Zaha (he has had a much better preseason), Crowley, Kelly/Stokes are enough mature bodies to protect him hopefully.

Genius!

P.S. Got Merrett on the guernsey too - This is one time where heart and head work well together...

Only 8 for me. However the other premiums in my side I'd hardly call PODS - Must be in the SCS reserves side!

DEFENCE: Bartel, Malceski, Z-Williams + 5
MIDFIELD: Fyfe, Pendlebury, Ablett, J-Selwood, Rockliff, Liberatore + 5
RUCKS: Goldstein, Lobbe + 1
FORWARDS: D-Martin, Barlow, Harvey, K-Tippett, L-Franklin

Happy to run with this at the moment until NAB and the Rookies present themselves..........................................Sewlood will either become Wines or a defender....................think Shaw/Boyd/McVeigh are overpriced............................and not convinced on KK/Yeo/Smith etc etc being Top 10.

Goldy could become the big Mummy

Cheers

As usual, most rookies are placeholders.
If that midfield works out you will be flying. NicNat has averaged 33.7 points more in wins than losses in the last 2 years and the eagles have a tough start. Richmond have a tough start but Dusty actually scores better in losses!

Did you have to minimize the screen to see the whole team at once Eagling? Just one of my many first world problems.

One that jumps out at me is Stringer. Absolute beast, excitement machine and could be anything but just not sure i'd be taking him in my fantasy side. The dogs will have a much tougher draw this year so while he should have the odd monster, i'd also be expecting him to have quite a few quiet games. Not sure if Crameri out is a good or bad thing for him tbh.
