No. I don't like picking a mature age player after their best year. But his last 2 years have been very good given all the injuries he's had over time. Managing a player appears to have become much better in recent times. Higgins, Gray and Sandi are all good examples. Hawthorn last year were the oldest 22 players on average to ever win a premiership.
Thanks freowho. Higgins is not in my team but i do think he is a good change to improve (potentially considerably) again. I think with less rotations he will be rotated into the mids alternating with Ziebell. I can see Higgins average anything from 94-105, assisted with North's great early draw.
Another I am tempted by is Westhoff. The only lock in my forward line atm is Tom Lynch (GC). Barlow I want to see his NAB - I have read the rumours he was put on the trade table last year; I think Freo lack a little inside pace and he is as much a culprit for that as any other.
Dusty is in-and-out but I think Richmond unperform and struggle this year. I don't see much upside in his price - so I have thought of going light on Fwd premiums and be stronger in the mids and backline and use some of the better forward rookie options.

Anyone considering Jack Darling?
Absolutely not, I don't see the point good footballer but bad for fantasy.

Around his price you can get Buddy,Zerrett,Green & Billings who all have more opportunities to get around the ground and gain possessions and tackles.

Anywhere between 80-95 I reckon.

Has everyone got him at F4 or F5?

GoGeta

Plan for 75-85 for wells and hope for better.
His durability still has me concerned but preseason & club intra reports have been positive.

Wells locked for me, assuming he doesn't get injured in NAB. I'll only pick him if he has a flawless preseason.

Anderson still a watch for NAB, anyone know his job security in the best 22? If Anderson can average 80-85+ with his easy draw probably a must have.
I'm liking Wells, Anderson, Cockatoo as F4-F6 atm. Nice easy draws to begin with.

So many good 200-250k forward options. Wells, Anderson, Simpkin, Duggan, Cockatoo and then possibly guys like C.Ellis, B.Kennedy as well as the cheaper options Kerridge and Petracca.

Should be a goldmine this year

I don't know about anyone else, but the thought of having two North Melbourne 200 to 250k forwards scares the bejeezus out of me!! I've been burned by North cheapies too many times going all the way back to the Laidley days!

Be careful of fools gold. I think you can only have one of the 200k+ guys, so the challenge will be to pick the right one. Remember the lesson of Van Berlo from last year.

No interest in Anderson at his price. Kids played a dozen games and while he looks to have talent, he's too much of an unknown for me still. Wells is a walk up start if he is fit.

Yeah I know that but Van Berlo was never a good option, a guy who didn't have any previous scoring history behind him and in the backend of his career. All the guys I mentioned have either been successful SC scorers in the past or are up and coming youngsters. I do agree that picking the right ones will be crucial though.
