Not enough premium/keepers up forward is the only thing. Take out Boyd, move Tippa back and get Dusty for 9k more than Boyd. Would make it a bit more balanced.

Read a post in the Midfielders Discussion from IDIG about having 5 guns and a POD/Breakout in the middle.

Had a little play with my side and came up with this. Whilst just looking at it now I really like the look of it. The fact I only have $500 left too really makes me feel like I am getting value for money!

I think Mid time is something that fluctuates and swirls in each game, as Coaches switch things up and around, to try and find something that is working on that day. I wouldn't contemplate Robinson if he was Mid only, but having him only needing to average low to mid 90's to be a successful, but at the same time disappointing pick, makes him an easy pick while Beams is out.
As to him tagging, I can't see that happening. I can see him playing run with roles, but not tagging as such. I agree with what Hondo said in another thread. imo team boards are 98% rubbish, where people are guessing, or just repeating what others say. I laugh when people say player A will be doing this or that during the season, when the Coaching panel at the Club probably don't have his role set in stone. Better back your own opinion or gut feel, than to listen to those boards, I reckon.

Jaca, very similar team to mine, therefore it's a good one! I have an extra Mid 'Premo' to your Bartel pick. He's a speculator and massive POD. I also have NicNat instead of your Goldy.

Great defense, mid and ruck however forward line very risky with only one premium. I would step Simpson down in defense and upgrade to sam gray/ hall/ Franklin for a similar price in your forward line

Nice looking team with all the right rookies I think except Hartley - and maybe to a lesser extent, Oliver.

I see you avoided Goldy - is it because you want to get him later, or you think NicNat and Gawn will outscore him by years end? I only say that because you have chosen 2 set and forget ruckman without Goldy, so i'm thinking you think they will outscore Goldy in the end.

6k isn't much - I myself have 3k left and am nervous about it and think it's important to have at least 30-35k left when starting. Possibly move Brown down to Fwd and bring in Hartley for Menadue? Hartley has a much better JS than Menadue i think... but then again - he may not score as much when he plays. Menadue hasn't scored that high in NAB either though.

I've thought about the Goldy vs Martin/Nicnat dilemma a bit. I just feel like the season had to go perfectly for Goldstein to replicate a 128 point 22 game average.

I think Nicnat can replicate his 114 point season from 2012..or whenever that was. He seems healthy. A 150k saving is too tempting.

I don't mind you're team. Weitering and Dea a expensive rookies. I can imagine one would go with one or the other. But which one? Dea is a mature age footballer with some AFL experience, plays a half back role from what I have heard. Weitering is a man child who can take intercept marks and has Rowe and Jamison on the better two forwards. This could free him up a bit more to read the play? Mids are fine, Rucks are fine, Forwards are relatively fine but not sure on the Menzel pick. An idea could be to switch Bennedy into the forwards and pick up a cheaper mid rookie. That gives you around a $100k. Plus if you downgrade Weitering you could upgrade Libba into a Wines type.

Like you said, we almost have an identical team. I have Hanners instead of Shaw and we have a couple of different rookies, but apart from that we have an identical team.

Who could you downgrade Oliver to, though? With 85k, nothing stands out as an obvious weakness for you to upgrade. If you managed to turn Oliver into a 123k rookie, you could perhaps turn Libba into a more certain keeper, a Wines/Adams type. Perhaps Simpson/Bartel to Shaw is another option?

Just keep the cash for breathing room pending rookie selections, then head into the season with a warchest.

It's your team, so I can't make specific decisions for it, but let's imagine for a minute that this was my team. Firstly, I would be quite satisfied with the majority of it. Note that the structure is almost identical to my own team, many of the same selections too (23/30). I would be looking at downgrading Weitering to a basement price rookie, probably Adams, maybe Ruggles at this stage, adding enough to your kitty so that you can ensure your M5 is a keeper. I would upgrade Libba to a player in the 520-550k bracket, a Wines, Adams, Parker or Shiel.
