Hi everyone please give me your thoughts or suggestions

Def: Shaw, Bartel, Smith, Lonergan, Hartley, Broad, Brown , Adams
Mid: Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Fyfe, Rockliff, De Goey, Mills, Kerridge Gresham, Hibberd, Davis
Ruck: Goldy, Martin, Cox
Fwd: Martin , Barlow, Moore , Wells, Menadue, Mccarthy, Grimley, AMT

Have only a small amount left in kitty
Thinking of De Goey to Oliver ?? and Moore to Hall ?? but in two minds as i think De Goey and Moore will do really well , better than Oliver and Hall can't say
Think De Goey is a better option at this STAGE than Libba hope i'm not wrong
Contrary to belief i think Smith will do better than all suggest , all reports are that he wants to put last season behind him and get back to his form from the previous season and has been working heaps on his ball disposal skills over the summer
Let me have it and your thoughts as well ,appreciate it.
Great team, De Goey to Oliver and Moore to Hall defiantly looks the better option

Never posted my team in a thread like this, but interested to see if it gets any comments? May make me re-think things... again!

Bartel, Simpson, Salem, Lonergan, Weitering, Dea. Hartley and Brown
Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Selwood, Rockcliff, Mills, Oliver, Menadue. Gresham, Jansen, Davis
Martin, Gawn. Currie
Martin, Barlow, Franklin, Wells, Kennedy, Kerridge. Tippa and McCarthy

*rookies will change with selection
**Selwood every chance to be moved sideways on good friday
***Still contemplating sheridan for one of the other mid pricers

Guessing feedback will be backline to speculative, midfield too weak?

This might be just me, but I'd be worried about not having the top player from last year in at least one or 2 lines.

Goldy and Shaw are pretty much guaranteed to be top in their positions, Fyfe will be top 3 at the lowest. Try and get one of those three in I'd say (Fyfe if possible). Forwards are the place to skimp I think because its about the only place rookies look adequate and Lids/Montangna don't fill anyone with confidence

Nice Team, although the first thing that strucjk me was the selection of both Salem and Lonergan, I'm not saying its wrong, but just interesting. Overall I think its a pretty solid structure and I guess you had to save somewhere to get Weitering and Dea into D5 and D6.

I'm unsure on taking both Salem and Lonergan, but other than that I think its a pretty solid structure and team.

Hey Siwel

DEF: Looks pretty thin. Personally don't like Shaw at his price but can see why you picked him. I'd consider upgrading a rookie to a Lonergan/Sheridan type otherwise you might be faced with a defensive donut very early on.

MID: Like it a lot, no issues here.

RUCK: Can't go wrong picking the top 2 rucks from last year, love Martin as a pick think he and Goldy will both be around the 115 mark this year

FOR: 2-1-5 setup in forward line seems a popular one this year, Martin and Barlow should both be top end keepers.

Overall a pretty solid team, I'd just look at strengthening your defence with the cash you have remaining in the bank.
Nice side, somewhat similar to mine mate.
A few things, a mate I go to uni with is mates with Dunkley, and apparently Dunkley himself isn't confident in getting a game round 1, so unless he is a donut for you, maybe have a backup plan.
No things glare out at me and suggest that they need changing, I don't mind the 2 premo FWD line + Wells and rookies. If anything, I'd maybe say use a bit of the coin to go Wines to Priddis, but I'm sure you have your reasons for going with Wines.

As I said earlier, nice side.
Firstly, I think your FWD line is fine, if anything, I'm probably more concern having to field 3 rookies in your DEF.

  • The thing that grab my attention straight off the bat was that your M8-M11 is no guaranteed of selections for round 1, so you need to address that area first.
  • The Wyatt/Cox seems a bit odd as both are unlikely to get game time, maybe consider Grimley if you want a playing R3/F8.
  • Remaining cash could be used to sure up your MID rookies or strengthen your DEF line.
I would upgrade Dea or Kennedy
Forwards to consider: Merrett, lynch, Franklin, Greene, Hall.
Defenders to consider: Yeo, Rich, JJ, Sherro, Lonergan.

Good Luck!
Find a $30k and then turn Dunkley into Hall?
Cheers lads much appreciated, rookies are still subject to selection so not so worried there. Ive gone Collins to Sheridan atm to strengthen DEF line with leaves me with 83k to spend

Def: Shaw, Laird, Bartel, Johannisen, Harwood, Dea (Adams, Tippa)

Midfield: Danger, Ablett, Selwood, Rockliff, B.Crouch, Mills, Oliver, Menadue (Gresham, Keays, Davis)

Ruck: Goldstein, Mumford (Currie)

Forward: Barlow, S.Gray, Hall, Wells, B.Kennedy, Kerridge (McCarthy, M.Brown)

Any tips at all?

13 players 400k+
1 mid pricer 300-400k
8 players 150-300k

Feel like i need to get one more premium mid in but can't see a way to do it.

Anyone like the different structure with cash cows in the middle and a stronger defence?

Nice team.
Not sure how much coin you have left, but you could consider downgrading Harwood and upgrading Oliver.

DEF Laird, KK, Bartel, Weitering, Dea, M Brown (A. McDonald, Hartley)

Mids Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Priddis Rocky, Libba., Mills, B. Kennedy (Gresham, Hewett, davis)

Rucks Goldy, Gawn ( Grimley)

FWDS Barlow, Merrett, Hall, Wells, Menadue, Kerridge (Milera, Adams)

Not too sure about having KK and was possibly thinking downgrading Milera to a cheaper rookie to swap priddis for Fyfe..

Thoughts??

The one constant in the majority of teams posted here, is the forward line selections.

Chance to go POD here. Food for thought.

This will probably last til lockout....32k left.

DEF: Laird, Bartel, Rich, Lonergan, Dea, Hartley (Brown, Ruggles)

MID: Danger, GAJ, Priddis, Shiel, Rockcliff, BCrouch, Mills, Kennedy (Gresham/Petracca, Hewett, Davis)

RUCK: Goldy, Martin (Currie)

FWD: Barlow, Gray, Hall, Wells, Menadue, Kerridge, (Adams, Tipa)

I think Rich is a calculated risk with Beams out....otherwise I could go JJ but not sure how his scoring will settle halfway through the season. Not sold on Pendles.....think I can upgrade to him. Finally said goodbye to Maxy....dont need risk on every line perhaps. Hope Gray works out otherwise he might be the first corrective trade.

Pretty set on my team now... still throwing up a few midfield combos, and still weighing up a rookie swap, but here goes:

DEF: Laird, Bartel, McGovern, Lonergan, Weitering, Adams - Hartley, Brown
MID: Dangerfield, Ablett, Priddis, Rockliff, Wines, BCrouch, Mills, Kerridge - Gresham, Hewitt, Davis
RUCK: Goldstein, Gawn - Wyatt
FWD: Barlow, SGray, Hall, Wells, BKennedy, Menadue - Milera AMT

Still have 65k left

Still wondering if I should keep Milera in there instead of McCarthy - I just don't like McCarthy's JS and scoring potential
Priddis, WInes and BCrouch - I am still considering SMitchell, Libba and Shiel. Aside from that - the team is pretty set before rookies are named.

Thanks for your feedback IDIG. I agree with you re those defs having higher averages, although I expect Boyd to miss a lot of games, so he's a bit like Beams - great when he's playing, but middling (and probably quite overpriced) on a PIT basis. Shaw and McVeigh should be my two upgrade targets.

I will have a think about B Crouch. I gather Oliver's JS could suffer from Brayshaw's early recovery, and I do have spare cash (for now! :p) so Crouch could be a reasonable use of that.

I've gone Boomer over Buddy because I think Buddy is quite risky. He's always been injury-prone (often niggly ones that go from one week to three, if memory serves), and now has had mental health issues as well. If I thought Boomer would average moderately less, I'd potentially take the risk on Buddy, but am happy to take the safer route with Boomer. I'm surprised he's such a POD, although I'm happy enough to pick him either way :)

The two FDs could change to one if another good rookie pops up, but unfortunately that seems pretty unlikely at this stage!

Thanks again, I will have a think about whether Shaw or Crouch is a good use of my excess cash.
Re Boyd, i'm still very tempted to start him but your point is well made. I think it's less likely that he will be rested due to their tougher draw and not sure they'll have the luxury of resting their players as i have them at 7th/8th at best this year. I'm probably in the minority here though!

I'm now seriously considering the Uebergang FD as well, which is (like all things) dependent on which structure i go with. I do like the idea of being able to loop my D6 though.

Reading back through my feedback in particular the amount of premiums i've come to realise that i'm likely probably coming in a premium too heavy, trying to squeeze as many premiums in has left me somewhat vulnerable and potentially missing out on too much value so i take that comment back haha :p

I've recently dropped one of the big 5 as well and my team feels a whole lot better, i'm curious though what was the reason on picking Fyfe? Is it the back + top priced reason...or other? I'm thinking Pendles will get the chop as i feel like he's less likely to punish me as a non-owner compared to the other 4.

Yeah, Boyd an interesting one. I was keen to start him if he averages 105 and misses 1 or 2 games. My main concern was that he wouldn't average 105 and would average sub 100. I couldn't find any 34 year half backs that had averaged 100+. Scotland was the closest but he averaged 100 on the dot. With JJ breaking out, potentially it could affect Boyd's points. Too many ??? for me.

Yeah there wouldn't be many that's for sure. Maybe if North start playing Boomer off a back flank :p

The appeal with Boyd for me was that he's an accumulator and will have that odd 40 possie game whereas other players like say a Rance for example gets half his points from contested marks or marks from opposition kicks. The age factor is a concern though.

Thanks IDIG - I've been thinking about five mid premiums plus Libba, but can't make it work without a lot of damage elsewhere or switching out, say, Dusty. I could do that, and Selwood is more attractive now than he's been for a while, but I am/we are already making a fairly heavy bet that the forward rookies will be strong and deep, and I'm wary the forward rookies may surprise on the downside, or the mids on the upside. A lot of mine are M/F anyway ... Arguably I could swing Dusty to M5 and Kerridge down to the forward line, and it would look a similar structure to 5 + Libba, but obviously that's pretty cosmetic!

As for Fyfe, I agree with your comments. I think it could hurt not having him, especially for C options, but I can't justify picking someone with a dodgy back when there are other attractive and safer options. I know other premiums have concerns on the injury front as well, but backs tend to be more problematic, in my view, and Fyfe always seems to miss games even when he's not carrying something we know about! I can see arguments both ways, but am happy to err conservatively in my starting side.

Beat of luck with team selections!
