Fairly certain on this being my final draft. Lots of value and POD's in there, but I'm confident they'll all finish top 10-12 in their lines respectively. I've gone for durability in the midfield. No over priced players. Goldstein is the only one I'm willing to pay overs for, and that's only because it's set and forget in the rucks. Loving my spread of rookies, and the only one I'm unsure about is Ruggles. I have just enough cash to swap him to Uber ( who would be my captain loophole when Petracca comes back ). Ideally this is how it would stand though. Expecting Currie to be named.

A little bit of injury risk in Wells and Rich, but I believe Rich can definitely record a career best season this year and worst case scenario return 85 average which is more than adequate for D6/7. Wells is just too popular to avoid at that price. Sam Gray is one I'm not 100% on, but after doing further research I can understand the hype around him. I'm not sure of anyone else I would go for around that price bracket aside from Greene, and I just see more upside in Gray.

Thoughts? Too much speculation? Not enough "wow" factor? Sam Gray is one I'm not 100% on, but after doing further research I can understand the hype around him. Thanks for reading :)
Def: Pretty safe structure wise provided the rookies gets game time. Laird & Bartel seems to be popular cornerstones to build the defence around this year. I've looked at Rich and Yeo has come back into consideration for my own team after Sheed's injury.

Mid: My only concern with your approach of going 4 + Libba (without one of Fyfe/Danger/Ablett) is that you may find yourself playing catch up early on as the majority of teams are going pretty deep on this line. Also not having the mentioned 3 Super Premiums limit your choice for weekly VC/C.

Ruc: Top 2 priced rucks, and having the luxury of Currie at R3.

Fwd: You've gone against the trend of most by adopting to go 4 deep when most are going with 2 or 3. I think that this is done at the expense of your midfield, so I would strongly consider asking yourself whether there are any other midfield premium you would prefer over your existing 4 forward premiums? Personally I would take a MID over a FWD, especially when there seems to be more rookies likely in the forward line.

Overall: Your selections of players are sound as there's potentially 16 season long keepers in that side, if you include Libba & Wells. However, I feel that your 4 + Libba midfield is somewhat compromised, especially when there's no Fyfe, Danger or Ablett amongst those lot. I would seriously consider trying to bring at least one of them into your team, maybe at the expense of your forward line.

Pretty much done I reckon:

Def: Boyd, Simpson, Bartel, Smith, Hartley, Adam (Broad, Brown)
Mid: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Ablett, Selwood, Rockliff, Mills, B.Kennedy, Kerridge (Gresham, Gore, Davis)
Ruck: Goldstein, Gawn (Wyatt)
Fwd: Martin, Barlow, Franklin, Wells, Menadue, McCarthy (AMT, Petracca)

$5k left over. Trying to go for as many guaranteed keepers as possible with only Brodie Smith questionable and Wells obviously more of a cash cow.
Great team and great balance of players across all lines with none of Libba and the Crouches, you're set to go mate!

If i could get some feedback on my latest line up that would be great:

DEF: Laird, Bartel, Birchall, Sheridan, Weitering, Tippa (Hartley Ruggles)
MID: Dangerfield, Ablett, Hannebery, Sam Mitchell, Rockliff, Libba, BCrouch, Mills (Menadue, Gresham, Hewitt)
RUCK: Goldstein, Gawn (Loerch)
FWD: Barlow, Hall, Wells, BKennedy, McCarthy, Kerridge (Adams, Brown)

115k left

Would like to strengthen the forward line with SGray, but don't know how to do it. Or I could go BCrouch to Oliver, McCarthy to DeGoey. What do you guys think?
BCrouch to Oliver, Libba to Wines is also an option.
Would you choose Birchall over Johannisen or McGovern?
With Bartel and Sheridan at D2 and D4 respectively, I'd want a reliable and dependable D3 if I was you so choose the one you have the most faith in.

If you really want S Gray, maybe Libba or BCrouch to Davis then use Bennedy to get him?

If it's a question of Wines or S Gray, I would take Wines ahead of S Gray.

Here's my current side:

DEF: Houli, Laird, Gibson, Bartel, Hartley, Adams (Brown, Uebergang)
MID: Danger, Pendles, Ablett, Priddis, Rocky, Mills, Kennedy, Menadue (Gresham, Hewett, Davis)
RUC: Goldy, Martin (King)
FWD: Barlow, Gray, Hall, Wells, McCarthy, Kerridge (Grimley, AMT)

Only $3.6k left.

DEF: I like Houli's consistency and the ability to throw out the odd monster. Laird looks to be a solid pick down back. Gibson, I must admit is a bit of a biased pick as I normally never start with a hawk player, but I like his role down back. Recently upgraded JJ to Bartel.

MID: Got 4 of the "Big 5" in the mids. Priddis, I just love his consistency. I normally try to avoid midpricers in the mids so Libba I am forgoing you, please don't punish me.

RUC: Went for value last year with my 2nd ruck and ultimately paid the price and lost 200 overall to the other better performing rucks. So no messing around this year, so am spending big here. Set & Forget.

FWD: This line is probably my riskiest line, but the general structure seems to be 3 premos + wells. It is also a risk as I do not have Dusty. He is coming off his best season ever in his career with a 105 average, not saying he won't go as high, I'm just hoping he starts off slow and throws the odd stinker so that I can try to pick him up cheaper. Barlow locked and loaded. I liked Sam Gray even before his solid showings in the NAB, had hoped he stayed a bit more of a POD. Hall just seems too good to pass on and is my value pick.

Upgrade Targets
DEF: 2 of Shaw/McVeigh/Boyd
MID: Fyfe, (1 of the Swans Hanners/JPK/Tmitch, Parker) and not sure who else at this point in time.
FWD: 3 of Dusty/Montagna/Dahlhaus/Lids

So I have 14 keepers + Wells. Got Uebergang & in there for FD & King for Captains loophole. Will have to await teams to manoeuvre around to find cash for rookies if need be. But atm I am very satisfied with this team.

Pretty solid team Tamuhawk :)

DEF: Very solid. Should hold you in good stead.
MIDS: I recently let Fyfe go too hoping he comes off his steep price a bit. Again, very solid.
RUCKS: Set and forget...moving on...
FWDS: We have to take a bit of a risk somewhere this year and those seem pretty decent.

Great job :)

Been stuck with this the last couple of days. The temptation is to go wines to Ablett but I like the value wines offers.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I really like the structure of your side it's similar to mine. It worries me a bit spending so much on backline rookies and i've heard that Dea's job security isn't great that's why I didn't go for him. If I could make one change it would probably be Dea to Adams or whichever cheaper rookie is named and Buddy up to Sam Gray or anyone you like around that price. I had Buddy last year and I would not go there again, just far too up and down and misses so many matches I feel like your definitely going to have to trade him out at some stage this year.

I'd also try to get Nic Nat up to Goldy with the leftover cash but I understand why you've gone without him. Love the Parker selection he could go nuts this year.

One way to get gray in would be downgrade weitering to broad ( if named tomorrow or dea) and thus upgrading crouch to Sam gray who has mid/ fwd status and can be swapped with bennedy if need be. Great team already though, good luck!

Great team! Cannot fault the structure, one of the only sound teams I have seen with 4 premium defenders/ 3 premium Fwds ( think gray and hall might get there) as well as decent mids and set and forget ruck. Good luck!

Gone with a different strategy going for more points in the defence as I like the midfield rookies on offer and every year so far they've generated the most cash flow. I'm not fully set on it yet though. Thinking I'd downgrade rich to a rookie and then have Davis upgraded to Libba. Really comes down to whether I think menadue on the field and rich will out score Libba and an Adams/Hartley/brown on the field.

Def: shaw, laird, Bartel, rich, Harwood, dea (ruggles, tippa)

Mid: danger, Ablett, Mitchell, Rockliff, m.crouch, mills, Oliver, menadue (Gresham, Hewett, Davis)

Ruck: Goldstein, Mumford (wyatt)

Forward: Barlow, s.gray, hall, wells, b.kennedy, kerridge (McCarthy, Adams)

Thoughts on the Libba question?

Great team. Think the clue here is that you can't name the forward rookie it would be. If one you like pops up, then sure, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Best bet is probably if Gresham gets named and then you can move Menadue forward for that spot and put Gresham on the mid bench. Hewett has a chance to get named as well but he smells like a classic two game phantom to me.

If it were my team I'd be looking for a way to get M Crouch up to Wines with that 127k. By my count you're only about 30k short.
Thanks mate...
So had a quick play around, dropped Martin for De Goey, Sheridan for Langdon/Smith/Birch/Simpson/Houli, Crouch for Priddis/Wines

Gutsy going with Mumford. I had Montagna in my early teams, but I just couldn't justify the money. Very unique team. I'd still consider downgrade of JJ, or Rich, and having the space when the rookie situation reveals itself.

Some seriously solid teams in here.
I have debated a fair bit about structure and have decided to roll the dice on a lean defence.

D: Houli, Bartel, Sheridan, Lonergan, Weits, Hartley (Adams, Ruggles)

M: Danger, Fyfe, Priddis, Shiel, Rocky, Wines, Mills, Kerridge (Davis, Keays, Hewitt)

R: Nic Nat, Gawn (Wyatt)

F: Barlow, Robbo, Hall, Wells, Kennedy, McCarthy (Tippa, Grimley)

$63K in bank.

Is 6 premo mid too risky?

I like part of your approach here Hawk (durability, few over-priced players), but would be inclined to say that this is a bit too much speculation up forward and down back. You have four unproven midpricers, and will likely leak quite a lot of points on stronger teams at the end of the season (although you might eliminate on-field rookies faster), or have to use additional trades to correct them. Personally, I think you would be better served if you cut one of your 15 players priced above Wells, and upgraded 1-3 of the others to more proven picks.

Rich has had plenty of opportunity to stand up (8th year into his career, plenty of time in the middle last year, and injuries to Rocky, Beams etc) and just hasn't done it. The Lions have an improved midfield now as well. If you don't trust his durability, perhaps he's one to downgrade/upgrade (potentially to Smith) - I'm not sure I'd agree that 85 is a worst case, or that 85 with a number of missed games really is good enough for D6. Up forward, if you want reliability and value, maybe Gray to Boomer is the type of thing that could appeal to you.

You may also be lacking 3 of the best captain options in Ablett, Fyfe and Danger, and relying fairly heavily on Goldy. Pendles and JPK are reliable C picks, but I'd like a couple more really strong VC options if I were you.

I have all your rookies except Ruggles and Currie, so no issues there in my view :)

One other thing I'd suggest is that you appear to have had one really good season, followed by one that wasn't anywhere near as strong - so perhaps thinking about what you did in each of those years will put you on the right track? Good luck.
