I love this thread. Great idea to make it sticky!
I may have inadvertently awaken the sleeping giant of the SCS website, it was dormant since May 2014 and we've had 27 new introductions since the 15th of last month!

Agreed with you that it's great to get a little more insight into members which we regularly banter with in the other threads. I, along with our team of Mods, do appreciate and thank our members who have taken the time to scribe something together to share with the wider SCS community.

For those looking and still contemplating...just follow to lead and example set by our members so far. You'll be sure to get some 'Thumbs Up' and I wouldn't think a few REPs is out of the question either!

I have been really enjoying this thread and have been meaning to "introduce" myself for some time. Problem has been that I often look at the SCS site on my phone which is not a practical device for typing longer comment - speaking of, how I wish I could also give thumbs up and reps from my phone to the plethora of great comments made, but I can only imagine that would be a complex and expensive addition to the simplified mobile view. Whilst I "touch base" viewing other fantasy footy sites from time to time, it is this site that I spend most time viewing, and the only one I have felt comfortable enough to join. I have really enjoyed viewing, and occasionally commenting, on this sight where so many knowledgable people can share their views in such a respectful manner.

I am in my mid forties and I grew up in the Latrobe Valley where I played a range of sports as a kid, including soccer, little aths, tennis, cricket, and footy. I loved my sport but was never a standout. I liked to consider myself as a good team player! (Much like my avatar - Kevin Walsh!) It wasn't until my mid twenties I found my calling and finally won a state title - in lawn bowls of all sports - and I retired from that sport by my early thirties!

At 18 I moved to Melbourne to start University, where I studied a science degree, majoring in applied mathematics. I never returned to the "Valley". After my degree, I enrolled in, but never completed a diploma of education. I worked a few temporary jobs around Melbourne before heading off with my girlfriend (who has no interest in footy!) to the 'Old Dart' where we lived for a few years and backpacked our way around Europe. It was in London, where I found my calling and first started working in the aged and disability sector, which I still do today.

I ended up marrying my then "girlfriend" and we now live on a property with its own river at the boundary in north east Victoria, with our two beautiful daughters, aged 12 & 9. Our eldest daughter is transgender - this has been a long hard journey - but I am a better person for it. It is funny how your kids take you places you never imagined yourself going. We have made a few trips to Canberra to lobby politicians to alter laws to make life easier for our daughter - our most recent trip made just last week. We are hoping to avoid having to go to Family Court when she is 15 to be approved for hormone treatment - Jay, if we aren't successful in lobbying the pollies, we may need you to connect us to a good lawyer in a couple of years :) This has been taking up most of my spare time and I won't bore you all any more here - if anyone happens to be interested, maybe over a beer if I ever get to a SCS catch up!

Whilst my family is my number one passion, I still love watching sport, in particular, cricket and football. As a long standing Essendon supporter, I have lost a bit of excitement with the goings on of the past couple of years, but I try to get to games when I can. Now I am not in Melbourne, that is only a couple of matches a year. I love SuperCoach, and I find it to be a great escape from day to day reality, as well as a great way to give me interest in non Essendon games. (Like others, I also remember posting off my entry in the Age dreamteam in the mid 90's and phoning up each week to hear my results). Apart from my family, a love of music, and being a bit of a news/politics junkie, I don't usually get too absorbed into other non sport related escapes, however, the Game of Thrones series has sucked me in the past few years!

Thanks Jay (and moderators) for running this site in the way that you do, I enjoy reading all of the posts, and I wish everyone the best of luck for season 2016. Hopefully it is a SCS member who takes out the grand prize!

Every time I read the thread title my internal response is: "Right on!"

Some will get that, some not.

Hi I'm spots and I'm a supercoachaholic....

Did I mention I have been a lurker on this site for years??? Some great discussions and excellent insight from a range of contributors really does make it a great site, especially for someone who works with numbers the statistical analysis is fantastic. Good job guys!

Hey guys!

As many of you older members may have know, I was a regular contributor to this forum a few years back. In 2014 I kind of disappeared half way through the season. I went overseas and also a few different things in my life happened that kind of affected me, that's why I also missed the whole 2015 Supercoach season. However, now I'm back and rearing to go. I've missed contributing to this forum and everyone involved in SuperCoachScores does an amazing job.

I can't wait to get back into it!

I just noticed this thread so after posting a few times already I figured I'd make an introduction.

My name is Adrian. I'm 26, and from the northern suburbs of Melb. I'm an accountant by day, and fantasy addict by night. At any given point in the year, I will be looking after a fantasy team. At the moment, I'm doing SC and also an F1 dream team (mainly for lols with my mates) and just finished an A-League dream team last month. I actually came equal first in A-League Fantasy this season past, but missed out on the overall prize because the other bloke registered to play the game before me. (Yep - I was pretty ****ed off too!)

I love sport - I'm primarily a lover of the world game and F1, but also have a keen interest in AFL and tennis. Favourite sports teams in no particular order are Melb Victory, Liverpool, and Collingwood. The latter two have caused me plenty of grief in the past 5 or so years.

I stalked this forum for advice last year - I noticed there was plenty of good factual and opinion posts backed by stats and research, and a minimal troll factor which is always nice. Last year my final SC result was somewhere between 500-600th, thanks in no small part to this forum, as well as a pretty good run with injuries.

I decided to join this year simply because my fantasy-relevant knowledge of AFL isn't on the same page as HAL, so I have a feeling I'll be asking more questions than answering. That said, I'll try and chip in where I can!

Greetings,
My name is Richard, which I guess is no surprise given my username :rolleyes::rolleyes:
I'm currently a first year Economics and Finance major at the University of Melbourne while also studying Law, Mathematics and Accounting on the side.
Having been to the same high school as Tom Hawkins, Tom Langdon, Ryan Clarke, Ed Langdon, Zac Merrett, David Cunningham etc, I suppose Supercoach has always been a prominent topic of discussion between not only students but also with teachers. PE teachers especially, have often struggled to resist the temptation of talking about Supercoach during classes, but never did they once hold back from comparing our fitness results with Tom Hawkins from a few years back... To a particular present AFL umpire who was my year 9 PE teacher, yes I'm looking at you:mad::mad::mad:

Personally, I played footy in the inter-school league called APS for a season or two, but as the intensity of high school slowly increases, I decided to stick to playing tennis, which is my main playing sport, and follow supercoach instead :)))

I've really enjoyed my experience on this forum honestly. Ever since I enjoyed this site in 2012 when I found a link to Jay/Rowsus's floating donut article, and I have found this site to have a great balance between Supercoach relevance and entertainment. I cannot thank enough for the countless hours Jay put in to manage the site, and Rowsus' effort to provide every possible advantage for us dedicated Supercoachers.

Supercoach undoubtedly can seem quite unrewarding at times, given how hours of research can go into waste with just a player or two getting injured. Especially last year, when I was ranked top 50 nationally after round 5, but the fact that I started with Ablett, traded Ablett(injured) to Wines, then traded Wines(Injured) to Sloane, followed by once again trading Sloane(injured) instead of just starting with Fyfe in the first place or trading him in somewhere along the journey meant the ultimate goal was soon out of reach, as I've always had the mindset of Supercoach having 1 winner, and 200,000 losers in my seasons so far.

However, now I'm content with just having consistent seasons and contributing/engaging with this community. :)

Anyways, Economics lecture coming up in 10 minutes, good luck this season!

I guess I should introduce myself, can't see why not. I'm Ben, I'm 17, and I'm currently a first year journalism student. I'm aiming to become a music journalist.

Sport's always been one of my main passions, along with music, and I've been playing supercoach since 2010, when I started high school. I actually got involved because I was trying to one-up a kid in my class, who's still one of my best mates and my go to on supercoach (smashing him this year though).

I've always been around the 7,000 mark and have been involved in a fair few forums over the course. This one I enjoy the most though for a few reasons, due to the ability to recognise users yet still have a multitude of voices.

Having been an Essendon supporter since I was born (with my surname, I couldn't support any other club, runs in the family) supercoach has kept me interested somewhat. Especially in 2014/2015 my love for the game had died off a bit, but now it's back with a vengeance.

I hope that I continue to play supercoach for many years to come. Thanks for having me!

Should probably introduce myself.

I'm Cameron, second year Commerce student. Grew up in country WA and have always loved footy. Never really played much, but reckon I know the game pretty well.

Got involved in supercoach in 2014 because it was a good way for me to combine my love of footy with maths, which I enjoyed at school. I'd probably be pretty lost without this site and I fully admit to taking a lot more advice than I give, but I'm trying to give back what little expertise I have.

This has by far and away been my best season, currently sitting in the top 3k all thanks to the great analysis and advice given here. I reckon we've probably got the most well informed, skilled forum going around and it shows with everyone's great scores.

Good luck everyone

My name is Stephen and I'm a supercoachholic.

By day I transcribe court proceedings and by night I write scripts that try to be funny. Actually, by night I drink a lot and think about supercoach trades, but I'm good at deluding myself that I'm doing what I should be doing.

I have just moved back to Melbourne after a year or so in Nanjing, where my wife studied Mandarin while I stood around looking confused. It was fun!

A few years ago I was visiting my parents and I had an incredibly strong memory of the joy I felt as a kid waking up each weekend morning and hearing the thud of the paper on the door and running down to check my Dreamteam scores in the sports section. I wistfully thought how lucky kids were to have such pure obsessions for no other reason than that they want to. There have been a few times since then that I have rued that thought.

Then a friend posted on Facebook about Supercoach in 2014 and I had a spare hour or two before the start of Round 1 so I thought why not. I read a few tips on Herald Sun and thought I was good to go. It wasn't until the first round was over that I realised the rule about best-18 scores only applied to byes. I picked Hayden Ballantyne in my opening squad. I had not even considered Dayne Beams. You get the picture.

I found this site a few rounds into the season and it was great to slowly learn the ins and outs of the game. It was incredibly frustrating working with the dud team I started with, but it was still a fun challenge to try and right the ship with the help of all the great advice on here. I have said this elsewhere but it's true that the civility and intelligence and good humour of this forum is a beacon of light on an internet that often seems full of pettiness and competitiveness and hate. Thanks to all who make it so.

Wow! Only just noticed this thread..lol.

My name is Sam 'aka' Slammer. A nickname given to me along time ago and I am 43.
I now reside in Perth, Western Austraila but still a one eyed Carlton Supporter.
I have a wife and 3 children - Two girls aged 10 & 12 and a son 18 from a previous partner.
I currently work as a Control Room Technician for an Iron Ore Company run by a very rich female mining magnate (I am sure you can guess who).
Born in the UK so grew up playing soccer and only became an AFL fan when I arrived in Australia in 1982 thanks to a mate of mine who put me on to Carlton.
I have never looked back since. Even though alot of my mates through the years jumped ship when West Coast and Freo came on board, I remained loyal and stayed with the mighty Blues.
Have been in the mining industry for nearly 20 yrs. (still doing some nightshift). Just returned back to Perth from a 4yr stint in Orange, NSW. Have never lived in Melbourne but one day I hope to once the kids have moved on.
Love playing golf when I can but I am not very good at it. Spend most of my time between work and my great family.
Tragic QPR supporter and also part own a small share in a couple of horses - One currently in Melbourne and one here in Perth. Have not had alot of success yet though.
Overall I love my AFL and sport in general including a punt on the horses. Love a beer, inparticular imported beers. Have tried many many beers and always on the lookout for new ones I haven't tried. Even went on a beer tour with a mate across Belgium a few years ago trying all the different beers including trappist beers etc.
Big thankyou to all the guys here on site who put so much effort into setting it all up and providing all the feedback etc. It is absolutely fantastic. Special mention to Rowsus.

Another horse part owner! As the lads in my syndicate say, 100% of the thrills and 1% of the bills!

If only it were 1%... Give me a shout when they run next, and I'll do the same. We're spelling our Tony Noonan trained horse atm, and eyeing off Moonee Valley 1000m races later in the year where a leader bias is present.

The other horse, well apparently I just keep paying the trainer........
