G'day everyone,
After a couple of years trawling this forum, maybe it's time I start to contribute!
My name is Adam. I am 33, grew up in VIC (Ballarat/Melbourne) and currently live in Adelaide. I have a beautiful wife (a Port supporter to whom I promise each year "This will be my last year of Supercoach") and a newborn son. I am a passionate Dees supporter, and will be doing my best to stave off the in-laws who are trying to convert my little fella into a Port supporter. Wish me luck!
The life journey to-date has been an awesome one really - including study and an early career in hospitality, a Masters and a stint International Development, and now Education. One of my greatest passions is working with young people, and I'm also pretty fired up about social justice and a fair go for all. Footy is one of the things that helps me escape from a lot of the ****ty things happening in the world today.
I've spent about 10 years travelling all over the place, living a couple of years in the UK, Eastern Europe and China, as well as decent chunks of time in Kenya and Nepal doing a range of volunteering and Development work with World Vision. I do miss that life, but I must say I have also enjoyed finally "settling down" in my new home of Adelaide - a place I've really come to love.
If I'm not working or following the footy, I'll be listening to music. In fact, it is an obsession. The vinyl collection is slowly building, and my idea of heaven would be sitting in front of my stereo with a cold one and cranking some tunes. I love all kinds of music - particularly rock (classic, prog, alt, metal etc), as well as blues, world, indie heaps of electronic stuff. In a parallel universe I'd fancy myself as a bit of a DJ.
I've been following this site for the past couple of years and love some of the analysis. Especially from guys like Rowsus (thanks mate!). 2016 will be my 5th year of Supercoach, with my best overall finish being 456th. In some ways, the more I seem to learn the worse I get! But hopefully I can crack the top 500 this year once more. I play in and run a couple of cash leagues too (msg me for details), so I tend to play more for those than overall. I also change my team name each year (not the norm I know) - usually something associated with the mighty Red & Blue. My newfound love for Jesse Hogan has inspired this year's team name: The Hulkamaniacs. Look out.
Thanks again to all those who contribute to this site and share their wisdom, and all the very best of luck for 2016 and beyond.
Cheers,
Adam
