Hi all, my name is Dieter, pronounced Dee-tar and rhymes with Peter. With my German heritage, my Opa (German grandad) had a hyphenated name of "Wolf-Dieter" before dropping the "Wolf" when he came to Australia. I am named after my Opa, so it was very frustrating during Christmas when the family would say "Dieter" and we would both turn around. So you can see why I call myself "Junior Wolf".

Love reading and writing. I am doing a professional writing course at RMIT (although gap year this year) - it is a mix of creative writing and formal writing along with other stuff like online media, editing and publishing. I am quite strange in my course because I LOVE SPORT but the rest of my writing class mates are all the eccentric humanities people that HATE SPORT. I have survived many times from their anti-sport witch hunting sessions. I don't think I'll be a sports writer/journalist - I would rather just watch the sport.

I am an avid Western Bulldogs fan. Was born the red, white and blue and will die the red, white and blue. Sorry but I absolutely hate collingwood. I would like to see a western bulldogs grand final WIN but not keeping my hopes up too high. Got played by the supercoach gods in the 2 or 3 years of preliminary finals losses :'(

I played for Fitzroy Junior Football Club from year 7 to year 12. I haven't played for 2 years but after I come back from Europe I will start again. I am a lock-down defender. I can play on tall or small. I am a back pocket on the quicker forwards like a Betts, Gartlett, Milne type. I can also play on the key forwards that aren't too big as I am only 177cm. I find it funny that I won a best and fairest playing at fullback, but that was the season when my team didn't win a match. So the ball was always down my end :)

Hi,

I'm Monica, I had no idea this site existed. Bit late in the discovery, would have been interested in my performance in SC leagues where everyone is a good player. I have no idea of my SC history. Bit peeved they didn't keep our previous achievements.. I found one email - as of Round 21 last year I was 35518. I think in 2012 I was in top 50K.

I'd like to improve, 3 grand finals last year - and lost all three .

My team name is *MONSTARS*

I tried looking up my team page, but my name wasn't listed.

- 'Will You Please Be Quiet, Please?" by Raymond Chandler - Fiction
A bit nitpicky but that's Raymond Carver. Raymond Chandler wrote detective novels like The Big Sleep, Lady in the Lake, The Long Goodbye et al. Just named my recently born son Marlowe, after his detective character Phillip Marlowe.

Been having a great read through this thread getting a little further insights into our members. It would be a great travesty on my behalf if I didn't add to this amazing thread so here goes...

My real name is Thanh Nguyen. Just turned 42 years young, married with 3 gorgeous daughters who are the inspiration of our lives. My SCS nickname, THCLT, represents the first letter of the names in our family. Thanh, my wife Hang, daugthers Claire, Loretta & Theodora. We currently reside in south east Melbourne, in a house we built 6 years ago. We are a musical bunch at home, my wife plays and teaches piano and I (try) to accompany with my guitar. All our daughters plays the piano but not the guitar, probably best as I'm musically blind and only play through listening to the melody & rhythm.

My SuperCoach name, FLYING HORSES, came into existence for the 2014 SC season. For those that are familiar with the Chinese Zodiac (which is based on a 12 year cycle, each represented by an animal sign), my wife was born into the Year of the Horse. January 31st of 2014 signalled the beginning of The Year of the Horse cycle, so the name was my token gesture of gratitude towards my wife.

I currently work for a chemical manufacturing company looking after new product development and technical sales. I have been working in this capacity for 5 years. Prior to this, I worked as an application engineer for scientific instruments for 4 years and 10 years in an environmental laboratory doing various roles. I graduated with a BSc/BEng degree from Monash University, majoring in chemical engineering. After graduation, I took up studying Philosophy & Theology, which was a childhood interest of mine. This pursuit of my childhood interest enabled me to discover the real meaning of life and my self identity. I was sponsored to study abroad in 1997 so spent 12 months studying at the University of California.

I was always a lover of all sports from a very early age. I remember damaging one of the disc vertebrae in my lower back whilst playing footy at primary school and had to wear a back brace for 3 years for it to heal. I played a bit of cricket and field hockey through my early years at high school, but never at any competitive level. The only sports I really excelled in were volleyball and table tennis. I played volleyball competitively up until the age of 16 when I could no longer dedicate the time as studying took precedence, and played table tennis right through the end of my university days. Beyond my studying years, I enjoyed a game of pool or snooker or tennis with friends and was a very keen ten pin bowler in my early 20's. In fact, I almost had my name on one of the lane scoreboard at AMF Moorabbin for playing a perfect 300 game! I had 11 strikes and an 8-spare in the 9th frame to score 278. I also took up golf about 10 years ago, mainly so as not to embarrass myself at the work corporate golf days. I played quite regularly for the first 4 years and got my handicap down to 18. For the past 6 years, I seldom get an opportunity to play with the ever increasing family commitments, apart from the golf days through work. Nowadays, I can still hit a decent drive and my short game is still pretty sharp, and I generally get around somewhere in the 90's.

I got introduced to SC in the 2013 season through my current boss at work because someone pulled out of his home league at the last minute. I still vividly remember frantically trying to assemble a team to fit the salary cap on the day that the season was about to commence. My trigger friendly trading finger got the better of me that season and I ran out of trades by round 17 and stumbled my way to a ranking in the mid 8,000's. I bettered my boss that year though, so it was only just that I continue to give him an opportunity to have one over me. 2014 was only slightly better BUT I again ran out of trades by round 19 and faltered to finish in the 6,000's (lesson hasn't yet been learnt). Again I succeeded in finishing ahead of my boss, I told him that it was just beginner's luck, as I was still a relative novice at the game and hardly spent any time on it. At the end of that season, my boss says to me, 'you're too good for this current league, so for next year, I'll introduce you to some more competitive leagues amongst my friends'. This was a cue for me to start taking this SC fantasy thing seriously, so began to look on the internet for anything which would get me up to speed on how to properly play this game. I stumbled along the SuperCoach Scores website during September 2014, and have never looked back. That preseason prior to the start of SC 2015 was the most research and reading I've ever done in preparing my starting team. If you take a closer look at my signature, you'll noticed a marked improvement in my ranking for 2015! In fact, I was ranked well within the top 1K until faltering right at the end to fall just outside. The 'proof is in the pudding' that discovering SCS was the pivotal cog which ignited my passion and love of SC Fantasy. I have my boss to thank for introducing me to SC Fantasy. This year, I've even tested my wears in the other fantasy variants, namely, EPL & BBL. The knowledge and strategies which I've gleaned from SC have served me well so far.

At this juncture, I think it's appropriate to share a conversation I had with my eldest daughter prior to the start of SC 2015, when I was busy going through Rowsus & KLo30 players statistical analysis:

Claire: Daddy, are you working again?
Me: No darling, daddy is just busy with some stuff...go play with your sisters.
Claire: Mummy says that you're spending too much time on your computer of late and not enough time with us. What are you doing that is so important and taking so much of your time?
Me: Daddy is trying to pick the best players for daddy's SC team because daddy has to try to play seriously this year.
Claire: Is it hard to pick the best players, do you know who they are daddy?
Me: That's why daddy has to read and try to pick out the best players, now go and play with your sisters!
Claire: Is it just for fun daddy and why do you have to take it seriously? Do you win anything for playing this?
Me: There's money if you come first but it's very hard to win, daddy just wants to beat the boss's friends.
Claire: How much do you win if you come first daddy?
Me: $50K but that's not important, can you just please go and play with your sisters!!!
Claire: *screams aloud as she's running to get mum* Mum! Mum! Daddy's going to win $50K!!!
*Mum and the 3 daughters comes running in and in one voice asks: Can we go on a holidays when you win the $50K?
Me: If you all don't get out of the room and leave me alone, we won't be going anywhere!

They might have their wish granted sooner rather than later...but not through their Dad winning SC!
(Note: We've been on many family holidays in the past...I'm not that hard of a taskmaster)

My other great passion in life is bonsai, I've been a bonsai enthusiast since we moved into our current home. I've always had a love of bonsai from a very early age, and the project of building our own home presented a kind of like 'blank canvass' for me to create this serene environment to our house surroundings. I created a Japanese themed garden in my backyard, filled with maples and water features, and surrounded by bonsais which I have shaped, wired & form. I get my bonsai trees 'as is', that is, in its natural state as I like to visualise, create and transform that natural state bonsai tree into a 'work of art'. I now have quite an extensive collection, varying in different degree of maturity and types of bonsai. Below are some pictures which will give you a greater appreciation of this fine art...enjoy!

As you can read, outside SC, I do have a life and a pretty normal and full one at that.

Hello all. My name is Ben and I'm an Aquarian.

I am 30 years of age and was born in Melbourne but moved to Geelong at the age of 5. I still live and also work in Geelong as a Support Coordinator at a Victorian Government-owned organisation.

I started playing Supercoach in 2011 but only started to take it seriously after joining this awesome site in 2013. Like most of you on here I am now completely obsessed!

Aside from Supercoach my other interests include:

Playing poker - I love playing poker as much as I love playing Supercoach. I play regularly on a Tuesday night at a local pub and also play for real money online and occasionally play in tournaments and cash games at Crown Casino. I haven't had any really big wins just yet with my biggest payout to date being $1,100.

Electronic music - I absolutely love electronic music and have done so since I was young with my first ever CD single purchased being Around The World by Daft Punk. The kind of music I like isn't the sort of stuff you would hear on mainstream radio or on MTV. The genres I am most interested in are namely Techno and Progressive House. Not many of you have probably heard of many, if any of these artists but my favourites include Henry Saiz, Richie Hawtin and Robert Babicz.

Playing basketball - I started playing basketball when I was very young and still play to this day and enjoy it very much. I don't hit the scoreboard all that often but certainly play a role for the team. I like to think of myself as the assist king. I also played football up until the age of 18 and absolutely loved it but my parents made me stop to focus on year 12 and I never played again.

Supporting the Melbourne Demons - I am a very passionate Dees supporter and pay my membership every year. I try to get to as many games in Victoria as possible. Obviously it's been tough supporting a club that has been so mediocre for so long but I genuinely feel the tide is turning with the excellent coaching staff and great group of young players currently at the club.

Spending time with family and friends - I love nothing more than spending time with my family and friends. I come from a family of 5. There's my Mum and Dad, my 2 younger brothers and me. We are all very close and I cherish every occasion that we are able to gather together. Unfortunately none of my family play Supercoach which makes me terribly upset! I also have many great friends from several different groups and love catching up and having a beer or ten with them.

Finally, I am very much looking forward to 2016 as in April I am set to become a Father for the first time. My long term partner and I are incredibly excited to welcome our little girl into the world. I hope she grows up to enjoy playing Supercoach just like her Dad!

Hey guys and girls. My name is Anton. 41 years old, living on the beautiful Gold Coast with my wife and two daughters, 14 and 4. Born in NZ, moved to Goldy when I was 13, 1987, same year Brisbane Bears were formed. Lived about 1km from Carrara Stadium (now Metricon) and went to a few games having become vaguely familiar with Australian Rules by watching the VFL grand finals in NZ as a kid.

Brought up like every kiwi as a mad rugby supporter and am to this day. However have an English dad who wanted me to play soccer, so I switched between both sports through childhood and when moved to Aus stuck with soccer as union wasn’t widely played on the Goldy. Went to a high school that had a very good Aus Rules culture and produced a few AFL players. In year 12 our team won the GF by 220 points which shows how strong we were. This spiked my interest in the game and I began supporting the Bears (on the back of a couple of school mates playing for them) properly in the early 90’s and have remained 110% fanatical ever since! So 3 teams I follow with my heart and soul are the Lions, All Blacks, and mighty Southampton FC!

Work for a large Australian hotel group as a department manager. Been with them for 8 years, love my job, great company, based on the GC which is brilliant!

Personal interests aside from obvious crazy passions of footy, rugby and ‘soccer’ include surfing, snowboarding (off to Japan with a mate in 4 weeks!), great movies, great TV shows, e.g. Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, a good read now and then, non-fiction only, and I have a great love of music (rock, metal, aussie). Am also a bonafide Star Wars fanatic, having collected boxes of memorabilia over the years.

Finally I too love poker and was part of the game taking off back in the late 90’s early 2000’s when I lived in USA. Read all the good books, Doyle Brunson, Hellmuth, and learnt the art of tournament poker. Living in Breckenridge Colorado, a group of us would travel to a small town called Blackhawk every week, once or twice to play cash games. Interestingly the top limit on any table game was $5 (the law). These nights of 5-10 hours on the tables helped refine my ability. Then we’d make monthly trips to Vegas to play in tournaments. Won 1, finished 6th in another (lost on AQ which is my bogey hand) in pretty good size fields. When I left USA I was mad on online poker and did alright for a couple of years. Mate of mine in the USA started to play professionally online making about $100k a year, until Black Friday hit. He lost $70k in his account. Crazy stuff! I haven’t played for years but watch the WSOP on ESPN when I can.

I now have an affinity for the dice (Craps) and when I’m in Sydney or Melbourne for work, spend a night or two cashing up!! Great game, quite strategic and can be a fantastic social game too if you get a good table.

Kids take up much of my time and eldest is good at touch footy which means weekends are busy in winter while rep season is on. Love my girls like nothing else! Only downside is they (more particularly my wife) get annoyed at the amount of time I dedicate to watching sport, and playing supercoach. Constantly whinges about me ‘being on the computer or my phone’ but deals with it knowing the $50k is just around the corner.

That’s about it for me. I love this site and enjoy the community spirit and unwritten ‘no d$%kheads policy! Thanks for reading.....and good luck for 2016!

That wasn't hard was it...LOL! :p

I commend you for your bravery after your earlier post by getting this together so promptly.

With regards to your love of all things STAR WARS, you'll definitely get along like a 'house on fire' with my boss. So if you're ever down south and in search of a job to keep you occupied, be sure to touch base with me.

I don't have as many awesome life achievements so mine will be a tad more brief.

My name is John, I'm 26 years old, and I work in good old oil and gas. I graduated as a Chemical Engineer, then spent about 4 years doing risk engineering work (hence the over the top risk analysis on players), before moving into our business development team.

I spent all of my childhood playing basketball, volleyball, and sports games as a manager, as well as supporting the Mighty Pies, which ultimately lead to my love for SuperCoach and Pendles. After hitting 6'3 at 12 years old, I was seen as a prodigy (lol) and got some big chances to make a career of sport, but as lucky would have it I was still 6'3 come 18, and I quickly moved into the field of armchair sports.

I'm lucky that I never grew taller, because I met my fiancée and love of my life through uni. We've just bought an apartment in Prahran and I couldn't be happier. I have 2 cats instead of 2 kids, but the cats are enough for the time being. I my weekends drinking coffee and researching SuperCoach (or NBA), and a lot of time in Geelong and Barwon Heads visiting family, and would love to one day live, raise a family, and work down in Geelong (maybe with you Ben).

This site helped me combine my love of statistical analysis and fantasy sports, and since I found the site I've rocked into contention. I'm hoping I there abouts again in 2016 and in the hunt for the 50k.

Nice to meet you all, and I hope to make the next SCS catch up.

Hello, I'm Jason, I'm 32 years old and live in Sydney.

I'm Irish by birth, but my parents moved to England when I was very young so I'm afflicted with: and English accent and the English cricket team.

I work in business strategy, and moved to Sydney to open an office there. Prior to that I worked in London and Boston.

I moved to Australia with my then girlfriend in 2011, and watched my first AFL game in 2012. I'm not sure quite why I fell in love with it, but I did. My friends think it's strange. I support (I still don't know what barrack for means) Sydney, and can see the SCG from my balcony.

I got into SC through a comp at work, and became obsessed with it.

I'm a Manchester United supporter, and football (ahem soccer) is my first love. I played as a kid, which I was ok at, but did better at Rugby Union. I also follow most American sports.

I got married in the UK about 15 months ago (missed a grand final!) and my wife and I just got granted permanent residency. Looking forward to become an Australian at the end of the year.

I love to travel, and have spent a good amount of time in Asia and Africa, as well as living in Europe and the USA.

Hoping to make a meetup next year!

Not sure what to make of that statement...not sure whether I need to consult with the Mods on whether this goes against the spirit of this site. ;)

You're right John that we do share some common interests, and just noticed that you and I joined SCS in the same week...but I hold seniority over you...just! :p

Hello, I'm Jason, I'm 32 years old and live in Sydney.
Thanks Jason for making the effort...as I read your bio I thought this sounds familiar and I'm sure I've read something similar just last night!

Turns out that my memory haven't deserted me...yet...as you did pen something back in post #75. However, this latest rendition gives us (the community) a little bit more juice on you!

I'm a 30 year old who moved to Sydney 2 years ago from Ireland via the UK and only started watching AFL then (had 'heard of it' before, but never seen it).

Played fantasy through the guys at work who regularly took the **** out of my sides - clearly didn't have a clue! I joined this site middle of last year for some advice, and love the place!
