Welcome guys, great to see a lot of people sharing who they are - I'll spend some time and get some info up about myself soon. For all the new users, it is a great site where everyone is happy to share ideas and the best thing it is always kept positive. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I have/am and have a great SuperCoach year in 2013!!

Quick footy intro.

A 47 year old bloke living in Brisbane.

A proud supporter of the GC Suns for no other reason than it felt right.

I am an old Fitzroy member and when they were forced out I could not bring myself to follow another team. Even after I moved to Brisbane. Could not get over the Bears stealing the best colours, mascot and team song in the league. Stinkers!

So I was teamless for many years, just enjoying watching the best players and games. (But I still hated Carlton and Collingwood since it comes with the Fitzroy territory:p).

Then the Suns turned up with no history to get in the way, and on the TV every week up here in Qld. And that was all she wrote.

One of my favourite footy moments was running around the lounge room after the Suns ran over the top of Port during their first season:eek:. Ablett!!!!! Sorry Chewylizard.

My AFL fantasy history is mixed (code for hopeless). I played DT for several years but it just annoyed me. Too many high scoring players that are bad for their team. Decided to try SC last year, and to try to do well. I got one bit right (trying SC) and one bit wrong (doing well).

But I did play in the fantasy game run by the Age in the late 80's and early 90's. Not sure if this was the first organised one or not but it must have been close. My mate and I built an Access database to help build a team under the cap.

Did not help. We cracked the top 100 one week, but think broken clock or blind squirrel.....

To play we had to cut out an entry form, fill it in with a pen, and mail it off in an envelope with a stamp. Then do the same for any trades during the year. And we had to manually pull scores out of the paper every Wednesday.

You young blokes probably don't even know what I am talking about .

G'day All, AngryAnt. Used to be a pretty decent supercoach player (finished 104th from memory in 2009, 154th or so in 2010) but have declined greatly since then (couple of finishes in the 2000s). Have been reading this site for a few weeks now and finding it to be the best supercoach resource out there. Hoping that the advice and tips I'm getting off of here help me climb back up the rankings in 2013. Cheers and I hope you all have success in Supercoach this year.

Hi all

36 year old father of 5 who lives in Mornington Victoria

During the day I contract as a Business Analyst and have developed a small Supercoach obsession over the last few years and have improved my ranking steadily in that time - without scaling any notable heights. Regular reader of the site's articles and threads without being a regular poster.

Enjoy all sports - first love is football (the global football that is). Enjoy watching cricket and of course AFL

Looking forward to the new SuperCoach season

Remember doing one run by the Australian newspaper in 94-95. Had to post your team in each week.
Stewy Loewe and Deisel Williams were the first picked each year.

Oh doesnt that bring back the memories. I remember sitting in class trying to hide the paper under the desk and pick my team for The Age. It took some dedication to do it back then, sending off for trades

G'day all, decided to sign up today after reading some of Jay's interesting articles on strategy and having a quick look at some of the good quality discussion in the forum.

I'm not a top SCer like many of members on this forum but I'm enthusiastic!! This will be my fifth year playing now with steady improvements in overall rank each season. Top 10k the first year, then 2300-ish, 1200-ish and down to 540 last year. The aim is to maintain a top 500 position this year after being in and out of there many times over the last 2 seasons. The only real high position I've experienced is 2 years ago when I was in a FFC league that finished 5th and seriously challenged the lead for a while in the secound half of the season.

By the looks you have a really strong, respectfull community here and I'm pleased to have found it!

Oops....I posted a couple of times on here but I just realised I never posted my own bio. :/

My nickname is Damoz, and I live in South-East Vic. I'm a first year uni student this year. Gonna be studying Business at Monash, majoring in Accounting. Definitely looking forward to it.

Similar to Rowsus, I am very impatient. :p Not as such with SuperCoach only, but in life as well. As soon as I am told I am getting something, I want it ASAP (For example, my new Mac Air that I got today for my birthday Haha). However, as many of you would know, last year I was TOO patient early on and ended up missing out on Trading cashed up Rookies on time which really cost me the Season. Was still pretty happy with my final Rank of 4,502. My best Ranking was 927 in 2011, and I'm hoping to crack into the Top 1000 again this year. Everyone knows about that "I'm in Year 12" excuse, so I can't use that anymore. Haha.

As I was transferring files onto my Mac, I realised that I still had this Printscreen. This was from 2010 actually. It might be a bit hard to see, but it was an Overall Ranking of 97 at the end of Round 5 (Best Overall Ranking ever achieved). My best Weekly Ranking was 52, which was coincidentally in the same year, but at the end of Round 2. Finished Top 5,000 by the end of the Season though because I had too many Premiums at the start with no cash being generated. :/

Love logging onto SCS onto a daily basis, and having lots of discussions about various things. You don't understand how much it killed me last year when Jay "banned" my account to concentrate on Year 12 for a whole month and a half (Oct 1 to Nov 14). Watch out new Year 12's this year. I suspect a similar ban for you all as well. :p The support that Jay gives is amazing, and really helped me get through Year 12 as well. If its one bit of advice that I give any 11s or 12s, is to just make the most of your time and finish school with no regrets. If you don't get into your first preference at Uni, don't stress - There is ALWAYS LOTS of opportunities to move around. Also, its only one year of hard work, so keep reminding yourself of this.

I'm always up for a chat on here as well, so feel free to PM me!!! ;)

Hi all. My name is Aaron, and I'll be the big 4-0 in three months. I live in Bendigo and am the stats-man for Bendigo Gold in the VFL. Married with three young kids.

I'm an accountant, but work in a hospital, and do financials/maintenance database work, so plenty of time to check out Supercoach. :D

Played footy and cricket as a kid/young adult but copped a knee in the hip early in my senior footy career, and it hampered me from then on, and still does 20 years later, so only played senior footy for a couple of years. Played interleague junior footy and cricket, and played A grade local cricket premiership when I was 16. Started losing interest in cricket when I was 17. LOL

Enjoy most sports but Aussie Rules is the main one.

Its only the 2nd year I'm really getting into Supercoach, though I've played for years. I also remember cutting out teampages in the Age/Australian in the 90s dream team comps. Ha. I also remember a mate and I used to have to walk to a public phone box down the street or use the one at uni to phone in teams around 1993/94/95. I remember my mate winning a jacket because he ranked no.1 one week, but only after I told him to pick Mark Bayes, and he kicked 7 or 8 goals. HA!!

Anyway, it's great to see a bit about people on here.

Good luck in 2014.

I still remember it as clear as day. Playing back-flank that day, teammate gave me a nice hospital pass, I stood under it, heard the footsteps behind me coming and thought this going to hurt, so just held my ground and the guys knee just went straight into me. Got a free kick out of it, slowly stood up, but it corked my hip, and I couldn't swing my leg to kick the ball, so handpassed off. Coach at CHB said "Try to run it out", so I hobbled for a few minutes and then went off.

My old man came to watch that day (A round trip of around 700km as I was going home for mid-year at uni or something), and he had to help me in and out of the car, as I couldn't lift my leg high enough. Got home that night, and had to sleep on a mattress on the floor because I couldn't get onto a bed!

This was early 90s before trainers really knew what they were doing, so a bit of ice etc, but I never got it checked out, and think I was back playing a couple of weeks later, then did an ankle from memory. Ha!

But yeah, even know my hip freezes up if I sit for too long, probably should get it looked it, probably arthritic by now though..... lol

I'm a 30 year old who moved to Sydney 2 years ago from Ireland via the UK and only started watching AFL then (had 'heard of it' before, but never seen it).

Played fantasy through the guys at work who regularly took the **** out of my sides - clearly didn't have a clue! I joined this site middle of last year for some advice, and love the place!

Wow, no idea how I missed this thread - some good reads there, nice to get to know a bit of the story behind the SCS name :D

Currently 33, married to a girl far too good for me, living in Gippsland about an hour south east of Melbourne. Job title is 'analyst' - no idea what that actually means, but work mostly on energy policy for government types. Have done a couple of degrees at Monash - so wishing those heading into Uni this year (Damoz et al) all the best!

Love footy, cricket and golf. The old man did his knee playing footy, so he refused to let me play as a kid - golf became my game instead. Played indoor and outdoor cricket up until a couple of years ago, right up until my back decided to pack it in - inswinging yokers were a speciality. Sadly, watching cricket lately has lost its lustre with the amount of t0$$ers in the Australian team. The Hawks are my team and have been for as long as I can remember, pretty certain it is all due to growing up in the 80s. Went through school with numerous cousins of the Tucks and Abletts - they all come from my area of the world - Michael Tuck was a favourite player for a long time.

Last year (2013) was my first year playing SuperCoach, I sucked and ended up somewhere just post 30k overall. I did however find SCS in the 2013 preseason and have kept coming back for the articles, discussion and great bunch of posters we have here! Hoping to make 2014 a better year and get a bit closer to the top 10k with any luck.

Cheers, PC :)

Hey All. I'm 36 and live in Bendigo. Married with 3 young kids. I'm a policeman. Supercoach team is QPR.

Played country footy until I was 27 and then gave it up due to the shiftwork. Played over in Mansfield in the GV League then nicked off to play in a flag for the mighty Bonnie Doon Bulldogs. Live and breathe footy. Can't complain growing up as an Essendon supporter but we've gotta be due after a barren decade. Bomber Thompson was my favorite player growing up and I always played with 26 on my back. Saddest day of my life was being at the Prelim final loss to Carlton in 1999. Happiest day was being at the 1993 grand final with my old man, flogging Carlton.

Played Supercoach for about 8 years or so. Started playing Dream Team first but lost interest in that a couple of years ago. Been reasonably consistent over the last few years. 43rd in 2010. 144th in 2011, 1028th in 2012 and 17th last year. I was in front in Round 8 last year and went on the Supercoach show as a panelist. 5 minutes of fame and all that. Was pretty much top 5 for most of the year until Plummeting after wearing a zero in Round 22 and Round 23 when Ibbotson and Heppell went down. Thought I was still a sneaky chance to win it with 2-3 weeks to go if everything went right. Dimma was too good particularly with his captain choices in the run home (Blind faith with Ablett hurt me).

We have a Supercoach comp at work with 3 leagues. Very competitive league with promotion/relegation. Won it for the first time last year after numerous years of finishing on top and falling over come finals time due to no trades with the overall strategy.

Great site here. I'm a stats junkie and take particular interest in the workings of Rowsus.

Howdy folks, I'm 39 and live in Melbourne. I Live with my mrs and our two fur babies, Dora the Vizsla & Bentley the terrier. I too am a policeman. I'm an absolute Supercoach fanatic, have been getting more & more obsessed since I first played in 2006. I can't say I've been terribly successful, but I'm hoping to improve and am glad I've come across this site, which appears to be head & shoulders above other notable fantasy football sites. I do have a question, in regards to finding our past seasons rankings for our profiles, where can we find that information? I think my best years so far were 2009/2010 but I can't prove it, doh! Last of all, go Cats!

Unfortunately the only two ways of getting old SC Rankings, is to either backtrack your emails to that year if you have used the same E-Mail Address or still have access to that E-Mail Address. Otherwise, the only other way is to go to the SC App from that particular year if you still have it. :)

Haha been on this site since 2012 and haven't introduced myself. Anyway. I'm Anthony, i'm 27 and i've lived in the western suburbs of Melbourne my whole life. I have been playing Supercoach for 6 years (7th this year), however last year was my first season taking Supercoach serious and trying for a good overall ranking. I love football and have been a North supporter my whole life. I never really played footy anywhere other than for my school.

I did play a lot of cricket, usually a juniors game (under 14s or 16s) in the morning and a seniors game in the afternoon. My best bowling was 7/4 in under 14s, where me and the other opening bowler dismissed the opposition team for 11 from less than 8 overs. My best batting was 77* in under 16s (had to retire at 50 then come back as the last batsmen and re-retire at 75), later the same afternoon i scored 123* for the seniors matting team. I will always remember these batting scores as i personally count it as a 200* LoL.

I worked in IT as an online sales consultant for an computer/parts and accessories company for 5 years. I've recently moved on from that job and have been taking a break for a while (shame on me, i know).
In 2010 i went on a toured trip around Europe for a month, went to many famous places including; Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, the Louvre and a couple German beer halls. I highly recommend this experience to anyone and everyone!!

I like to read autobiography's when i can and i am currently working through the Ricky Ponting one. Favourite t.v shows are a mixed bunch including; Stargate SG1, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Friends, Seinfeld, The X-Files and The Big Bang Theory. Favourite movies would be The Matrix, Ace Ventura, Die Hard, Star Wars and The Abyss. I also don't mind playing the odd PC game here and there such as Starcraft, Morrorwind/Oblivion and i'm currently playing Diablo 3.

Thanks for the great site Jay, Rowsus and the rest of the team. Keep up the great work.
