Looking down the track a bit who are people now thinking will fill out the top 6 FWDs and what do you think they will average?

Martin and (probably) Hall are the only ones I would confidently back from here.

Dahlhaus great yesterday and probably good for a 100 again this season, but doubt his capacity to go much higher in the WBD setup. Franklin started well but to be honest only par for their early draw so far and no massive ones yet that you need to even out his inevitable stinkers. Zorko looks good for another 100 season, with the ups and downs generally coinciding with Beams and Rockliff being out and in. Montagna good yesterday but reckon only good for a 100 with his role. Zach Merrett another I would probably back go average 100 but not much higher. Last year Deledio was very good and actually very reliable once he came in. Can't back him with confidence but I'll be watching closely once he's back.

Partly an exercise to factor in how much Barlow will be leaking if he averages 90 from here, say. Also just curious as to how people see it playing out.

It's an interesting question stephen. I updated my predictions not long ago at this thread, and am comfortable with the call to lift Zorko up the rankings, and otherwise pretty happy sticking with these predictions so far:

http://www.supercoachscores.com/threads/2793-Predictions-Top-Averaging-Players-Positions/page3

The two additional changes I would consider making at this point would be reducing Barlow (even setting aside his <100 start) and potentially adding Hall into the mix. Hall has averaged 36 touches so far, so it seems pretty clear now that he's a midfielder available as a forward, at least until the Suns reach full strength in the midfield.

Perhaps the most notable thing is that Hall wasn't even mentioned in that whole thread!

That makes me think that he might still be more of a successful early bolter than a genuine top-level keeper. Round three probably isn't too early to change my own opinion - I am always suspicious of unproven types like Hall (which has so far served me fairly well again this year, but it does preclude me from selecting the breakout types). With that said, I would struggle to think that a complete 180 in the consensus view could be rationalised so early in the year.

I agree that Martin and Hall will be top 6 forwards. I also think that Montagna will be a top 6 forward.

After that, I feel that Zach Merrett is a good shot for a 105-110 average. Zorko, Wingard, Gunston and JJK all spring to mind. Going by average I would definitely have Deledio in there too.

My updated top 6 forwards by AVG are:

1. Martin
2. Montagna
3. Hall
4. Deledio
5. Z. Merrett
6. Zorko

4 rounds in surely Waite at least deserves a mention!? Can he not have a break out renaissance like Heater did last yr? He has great endurance and could be the leader in that fwd line ahead of Petrie.
IMO much better chance to finish ahead of Martin and Dids the way Richmond are going - ignore him at your peril (POD gold). Depending on when you jumped on, hold on as he is heading upwards of 600K anyhow =)

Westoff did something like this in 2013. He averaged 140.5 over the first 4 rounds scoring 100, 163, 150, 149. His next 17 games he only averaged 88.7 with a few scores below 60. We have missed his scoring boat. Westoff's round 5 score was 53. I wonder if Waite will do that. We'll just have to Waite and see :rolleyes::rolleyes:

He's playing well but there is absolutely no chance of him sustaining the pace he is on! Apart from the fact that he could get suspended at any moment, he certainly missed a lot of games over his career

I think Presto picked Waite up after round 2 which has turned out to be a masterstroke...not only putting up monster scores but generating some serious cash too...

As others have said, couldnt justify trading him in at this stage I dont think...

All great points lads - I do indeed remember that Westhoff run. I guess with Waite as a FWD he is still extremely athletic, a superb mark and his kicking is still excellent. Time will tell but I disagree with those who say he cannot do it! He has always had these attributes - perhaps he has just bought into the North way under Scott? Maturing @ 30+ = Heater 2.0

Jarrad Waite being the Number 1 SC Player after four rounds is a bit like Canada beating Australia in the cricket, Iceland beating the All Blacks in Rubgy and my good self beating Usain Bolt in a foot race over 100m, all combined. It's Freaking Unbelievable!!!!!!!

He was interviewed after the game and said something like, North medical staff are really good and have done a good job on his body and is playing relatively injury free.
