OK as the self proclaimed President of the "I have Mumford in my team" club.
I wanna be a president of a club so Leuenberger it is for me!..:p

Anyone considering Giles? Sole ruck by default and handy Rd 12 bye to upgrade to Stef.
I was President of the 'I have Giles in my team!' for a short 3 weeks period. The franchise failed to capitalised on its potential earnings and was soon liquidated. I then transferred my shares into Spencer Holdings which never made it to the ASX.

Another is Longer who looks ahead of Hickey who's been named emg this week. 260k with a b/e of 28.

I share the concerns mentioned above with all the m premium rucks. No one is screaming 'pick me' at the moment so both these guys buy you some time until someone puts their hand up.

I feel crazy considering either of these guys after the Spencer debacle.
If you want crazy, see my crazy post earlier on Tom Boyd, he's searching for a new president :p. Has Soldo and Giles in the next two.

after this week im down to 20 trades so dont know if i can stuff around trading a ruck twice.

im now thinking to jump on goldie. His price is tempting. Avoids nank donut. Avoids bye carnage as ive just noticed im screwed rounds 11 & 13. Scott wants to make preuss work but currently he isnt making it work knowing goldie needs to be a loan ruck.

So no donut this week and one extra player round 12 is 2 weeks worth of extra scores for his cheap price.

question is who do i take to help me afford it.

EVW or parsons for one of steart, eddy, pickett, and butler.

OK as the self proclaimed President of the "I have Mumford in my team" club I thought I'd share some of my reasoning in bringing him in after Gawn went down four weeks ago.

Firstly I think he will have a good season, plus GWS will have a good season and thus he will benefit. Secondly I am so far behind everyone that I wanted a POD and considering everyone's immediate reaction is he is injury prone he would thus remain a POD.

So now for the elephant in the room, his injury record. I decided to only look at his GWS record, and ignorantly wipe his previous record away. He missed a block of games in 2014 and 2015, but significantly for mine they were a block of games, not random one or two weekers and in both seasons he also played in a block of consecutive games. In 2016 he only missed one game, against a weakened Essendon. Interestingly he even completed half a training session mid week before the game, so I think it was just as much of an opportunity to have a rest for a niggle.

Anyway my reasoning is that if he does get injured it's likely to be a long term thing so I'd trade him out. Sure the risk is high, but most ruckmen seem to have a greater risk of injury than other players. So I've jumped on the ride! I must admit it's fun watching him smash into other player!

Anyway I look forward to handing in my presidency when he goes down this week now that I've made this post!

President of the Giles Ruck Club

Thanh relinquished the role.

Definitely up for grabs.

I've been pretty set on Goldy for the same reasons you've highlighted. I figure, if you're going to take a punt on anyone it might as well be the top fantasy ruckman for the last half decade.

I still have my concerns that he'll be a 10, maybe even 20 point negative POD though. Stef and Mummy imo are clear standouts. Mummy in particular, if there wasn't the injury concern would be right at the top of my list. His bye and pricetag now make him a post bye luxury upgrade for Sandi and even then i think i'm being optimistic.

My biggest concern with Goldy this season is his body. I highly doubt he won't miss another game. As Preuss is in the wings, every niggle means another chance to get some development into Preuss.

Oh don't worry i've looked at him and haven't completely put a line through his name yet, but gee his scores have been woeful considering he's spent so much time in the ruck.

His price is handy though i'll admit but the early bye doesn't work.

Goldy has just rucked against the two tallest rucks in the comp. His next 5 games are quite juicy. If I was looking for a ruck I'd take a punt on him at his price.

Yeah something does seem amiss. Looking at his stats, his kicks, handballs, marks, goal averages are about on par with previous years but he's averaging 24 hitouts per game this year, compared to 37 last year and 45 the year before. He's also laying half as many tackles 1.6 compared to 3.2 in previous years.

That's pretty much where the gap is in his scoring this year, noting he was spending a bit more time fwd when Preuss was playing as well.

..........and I'd keep Preuss to back him up when he misses due to his bad ankle(s). For me, he'll likely plaly 16 - 18 games for the season.

Got a conundrum.

First trade will be Parfitt to Black/Parsons.

If Newman plays, then I have 6 playing defenders

If Florent plays, then I have 6 playing forwards after trading Parfitt.

Therefore, if Newman plays but Florent does not, I will need to trade in a forward.

If Florent plays but Newman does not, I will need to trade in a defender.

If both play, then I only have to make one trade to avoid a doughnut.

---

The conundrum is - who should I trade out?

Newman (assuming he doesn't play) $261, 400 B/E 15
Hibberd.

If I trade Parfitt to Parsons then I can afford Docherty with Newman out, but if not, the alternative is trading EVW in.

Beams - I can afford anyone if I trade Beams out - bearing in mind that I will most likely need to trade in a DEF or FWD. If I do trade Beams, should it be a downgrade to generate cash or just bring in a premium?

Pickett - $164, 300 - B/E 20

Either EVW or Parsons/Black. If EVW then I open up a D/M link but close F/M. The other way I keep F/M but don't open D/M

Florent $196, 400 B/E 24

(assuming he doesn't play) - same as Pickett, except I could also trade Yeo in instead of Parsons/Black/EVW.

----

To Summarise:

Should I bring in 2 rookies or 1 rookie/1 Premium?

Should I make a second trade if I don't need to in order to avoid a doughnut?

His numbers last game actually look ok too.

7 kicks, 9 handballs, 6 marks, 30 hit outs (Witts had 34), 4 frees, 9 contested, 6 clearances, just the 2 clangers, 81% DE from 90% TOG.

Dare i say underscored with 93 DT : 77 SC ratio but when Gaz had 18 clearances i suspect he was sharking quite a few of Goldy's hitouts too.

Preuss or Goldy?! Either way, it doesn't help the Goldy cause!

Yes definitely but i guess the same could be said for Giles, theoretically.

I guess if we take Goldy, he's there for better or worse as I'd need to move heaven and earth to get him in this week unless it's for Beamer who i'm more likely to keep at this stage.

Has anyone who needs a Ruckman here looked at Sam Jacobs or Matthew Kruezer? To be totally honest I don't know how good they are, but they might be something to consider.

I'm struggling to piece this all together tbh but I'd move on Pickett, doesn't look like he'll be getting a game anytime soon and even if he does, i wouldn't be expecting too much by him so i'd keep Florent by default. Newman, i'm hopeful but seeing McVeigh as a potential in has me worried it will be at his expense.

I haven't thought about moving Newman on, i think he'll be a good scorer come money maker, if he can continue to get games.

Thanks. That means that it's either EVW or Black in depending on selections. And ideally I wouldn't like to move Newman on, but it was the only way to go up to Docherty, which is the only defensive player I want to grab this week if I was going up at all. Otherwise I'd just trade down to EVW.

EDIT: If I have options open would you prefer EVW or Black (Assuming I've already taken Parsons too.)

I'd only be guessing but I'd probably EVW on the back of his JS as long as he's not starting or you could at least loop him at D6. He's probably more likely to stick around i think but Black obviously has the better scoring potential and potential to make money.
