Hi Row
Could you let me know your thoughts on Lynch (GCS) ? I know we should expect some up and down with KPF's but I didn't sign up for they type of scores he's dished up the past few weeks. He looks down on confidence & form and with another big price drop forecast ths week I'm thinking it might be the last chance I get to cut my losses and shift him to someone else.
My other Fwds are Yeo, Macrae, Dahl, Nank & Heeney (with Greenwood, Ainsworth & DCJ available on the bench). if you think that trading Lynch out is the right call, can you name one or two players worth targeting as a replacement (assume $150k cash available)?
Ps. Earlier this season you steered me away from Tex Walker and that proved to be really good advice - I'm very grateful for that and hoping you can help me out with this decision as well
Your not alone Ricky and I'm going to be most interested to read Rowsus response. Personally I'm tempted to just accept it was a massive error bringing him in,
and treat him like a 400k rookie and downgrade him, take the $ and move on. This however will only really be possible for me if both Selwood and Fyfe get up this week.
Sadly watching Lynch the last 2 weeks he reminds me of a baby giraffe, all arms and legs with no coordination!
I'm stuck with Lynch too bit I feel sorry for the young bloke. He's been watching the ball go up the other end of the ground for 7 years and he's now realised he might have to wait another 4 or 5 before it starts landing on his chest. Think I'll just hope Eade gets a redundancy and the caretaker coach says "lets just enjoy our footy".
I think people are selling Lynch a little short. I have watched a lot of GC games over the past couple of years and he is a gun. It has to be a combination of a form slump/confidence and Gold Coast in general not playing fantastic.
I'm really disappointed in myself, for trading Lynch back in!
(out after Rnd 2, back in Rnd 13). He's averaged 54 in my team, 95 out of it!
I think Lynch doesn't own enough games, from the top of my head, he's had 2 x 140+ scores in his career, where as JJK and NRoo have 3 or 4 a season. Also, his bad games seem worse than those 2 players, too. So not a high enough ceiling, and doesn't reach it often enough. A lower cellar, and visits it too often.
Watching him, he has lost all confidence, and isn't presenting enough, or in the way he should. As much as we malign Eade, his advice to Lynch was spot on, "get on your bike". Start running up the ground more, run
at the ball carrier, and keep presenting yourself! His leading has become oblique, where as early in the season he was leading straight. That could be a by-product of his total lack of confidence. Mostly in himself, and partly in his team mates. You can see by the way he's kicking, when he gets the ball, his body language reeks of "I have no idea where this ones going"! There's no cure for it, other than working and playing your way through it. He needs an attitude adjustment, and that's what Eades trying to get across to him. I lay no blame on Eade for this at all, though hind-sight says he shouldn't have been made Captain!
So what to do with him?
That really comes down to: trades left, cash available, and season goal.
He's very close to the same situation as JJ. I believe JJ is now "unfixable" for most people, and you are best putting him at D6, and see if you can loophole him. You need to be in a position of plenty of trades, and/or plenty of cash, to be considering fixing him, and there's not many in that position.
I actually have higher hope for Lynch's scoring from here, than Nank's. I know it's not quite comparing apples with apples, but I've been pushing for 3 or 4 weeks now, for people to either dump Nank, or get him to F7. I know Nank is giving you Ruck cover, but I'd be more tempted to trade Nank, before I traded Lynch!
Personally, I have 2 Selwoods, Beams and Lynch to worry about, and only 3 trades left. If I had a donut I could use on my Fwd line, I would loophole Lynch and Greenwood. For those that can, and are running short of trades, that's my best advice this week. Even if you can't, I think you'd want a complete team, 5 trades and some cash, before you considered fixing Lynch. You probably want 7 trades if you are 1 short of complete, and at least 8, if you are 2 short. I'll be holding Lynch, and my breath, and hoping he comes good.
If you are going to fix him, it has to be this week, or he has little trade value to most of us. RB, I'd be going to Greene, but if you have a set against him, I'd be risking Billings.
Good luck, whatever you decide!
