Wouldn't want to live in whichever country you are from Herbie if that's the case!
Think the statistics for drug use in Australia is well over 50% of the population.

Well and truly taken over from alcohol and cigarettes.

Don’t think this is correct.

Possibly to ‘have used’...maybe.

Had a quick look and the highest I could find was from a 2016 study that was 14-16% of 40+ (the highest usage age group) were regularly users.
no worries

wonder how many people would accurately report their usage correctly or just say " oh yeah I tried that once or twice in the past"

anyway , serious social problem with serious concerns and consequences

Did a subject as part of my degree last year on drug use and behaviour. Most fascinating subject I've done at uni so far as we all know someone or have been personally affected by the misuse of drugs and alcohol.
Reported meth use is not as high as the media seem to portray (around 2% of the population), in fact meth use has been steadily falling over the years after having peaked in the 2000's. There are three main types of meth being used, colloquially known as ice, speed and base. Ice has the worst effects of the trio, and the issue is that while speed and base use have decreased, more and more people of that 2% figure are turning to ice. It seems to have claimed a big scalp here in Bomber, which is very sad for me as a lover of footy. He possesses a terrific footballing mind and was a great servant of the game while involved.

People often form an unhealthy relationship with drugs and alcohol when there are unsatisfactory elements in their life - a way to cope with goings on, a temporary escape, a numbing agent, a way to feel good for a while. I hope he and the nameless others out there get the help and support they need to overcome their challenges. Hopefully not just by throwing the book at the them and treating the outward symptoms, but by addressing the underlying 'root' issues.

This is a bit odd but I just recently purchased a Jeep for the missus.
Was registered initially to one Daniel Richardson.(ringing any bells)
In said Jeep were a few saved phone numbers one being Mrs Richardson
and the next one really got me interested. Neil Balme, yep Richmond GM of football Neil Balme.
Now am contemplating calling this number (don’t ask for it I won’t give it to you)
Any suggestions? What should I do?

I suggest you just forget it, and keep it as an interesting story.

Not having an aerial ping ping background ;-)

What might be similar for a cricketing context? Is Bomber Thomson in a similar category to Ricky Ponting? Merve Hughes? Tony Dodemaide? Bruce Yardley? Alan Border? Gred Chappell? John Dyson? Simon O'donnell? Greg Ritchie? Greg Matthews? Where might he fit into a cricketing paradigm? Just so I can, you know, be proper aghast and all that.

Essendon (and some Geelong) people will have you think he is Ponting, Border and Chappell all rolled into one.
I'd put him just below those 3, but in front of all the rest you named.

Well he may just become about as popular in Australia as Harold Larwood bowling in Adelaide during the infamous bodyline series.

Sounds like Swanny’s been having a good time and looking to further advance his career in front of the camera.

I haven’t seen it so can’t confirm but rumour is it’s not with his misses and that he did not give her consent to record his face; she grabbed her phone during and wasn’t planned.
