Why couldn’t anyone bat when the national selectors were watching the last couple of rounds?

Oh, Tasmania 167 and Queensland 8/86 in reply. That’s more like it!
because Victoria didn't pick Maddison until this round :)

Cooper must be a chance

Wade scored a half century again.

2nd Innings & 2nd Test will be interesting to see what they do , no more Shield games until after Big Bash after this round.

oh wait , let's pick on Big Bash form and pick Lynn , Short & McDermott

Good thinking Herbie. We could pick a Big Bash team of batters plus 4 test bowlers. We can then be bowled out in the first session but probably make 50 more runs for the bowlers to bowl to :p

Exactly.

Commentators remarked at lunch time that only Khawaja & Marsh average 40+ in first class cricket.

Then showed the 1998/99 side in Taylor , Slater , Langer, Waugh , Waugh , Ponting

then listed those that could not get in

Bevan , Blewett , Cox , Elliott , Hayden , Katich , Law , Lehmann , Martyn , Siddons etc etc etc (missed another 4-5)

I have been watching Test cricket since 1976-77 , have never seen it so pathetic.

It is actually embarrassing

PS Head actually looked ok today

20 years time I will remember when we used to play Test cricket , and watching T10 , T5 , T2 or whatever else is next.

52+20=72

Edwards , Pucovski , Sangha please start making some more runs

All is not lost , couple of boys called Smith & Warner in Sydney Grade cricket seem to be going ok.

Might be a rough chance to make the Ashes squad

I know Karen Rolton played district cricket in Adelaide.

Think it was WA who decided to 'rest' him. Allowing him to fly over and see his family here in Melbourne while the Shield side is here as well.

Is very bizarre. Katich on the radio on Friday was spitballing reasons as to why and suggested that it could be a team balance thing as to why he wasn't picked with Marsh and Short coming backing into the side, etc. Not sure about it, but who knows.

something doesn't add up

you can understand his frustration at missing out in the UAE , then being part of the ODI and T20 Squad back here against SA and India and not playing , but then you would think OK I now have another Shield game to perform.

Hopefully he sorts himself out for Big Bash.

While I have you how serious is Hitch's finger injury ?

And also what can you tell me about Merlo , is he a chance for the Stars side ?

Cheers

Presume you are talking about Gotch? I actually haven't heard too much apart from my close mate telling me 4 - 6 weeks.

On Merlo, haven't seen a huge amount of him. Think he got a futures ton the other week. Missed out today in Premier Cricket.
Was talking to a guy last night who knows him and he was saying that Merlo has been told by the Stars that its very, very likely he'll play at some stage throughout the tournament. You'd think his best bet would be playing when Maxy and Stoinis are with the ODI side is my guess.

No idea how Gotch became Hitch hahaha.

Looks like Dunk will get the gloves to start with in Big Bash then , unless they can sign Harper as a injury replacement.

I think the article on Fox Sports had Merlo in the starting XI , must admit I don't know much about him , might be a good downgrade target then when the ODI's start.

Cheers
