Hopefully Steele is someone that benefits with a bit more space around the midfield that everyone is anticipating

From what I’ve read now on the saints’ board, it appears to be more a hamstring tendonitis issue rather than a hammy tear - so he isn’t ruled out for an extended period of time. Possibly why the saints keep calling it “hamstring awareness”, posters mentioned that he has been carrying it over the past few years.

I think he still is a chance to play early on (probably Round 1) but wouldn’t think he has the same impact as if he were fully fit.

I don’t think any one really benefits from it as Hanners would play in the mids if he’s on the field - just wouldn’t have as much impact if he’s underdone.

Good stats for Steele ... I often add the DE and the CP rate as an indicwtor of overall quality (one tends to go up when the other goes down). 121% is a very good number.

Good info B18. So Hannebery has been carrying hamstring tendonitis for the past few years, which affects his performance, hmmm, why would any SuperCoach bother to get him in their team?

It’s only what the poster had mentioned so not a definitive source, but it did make sense if that was the case. Definitely makes him less attractive from a fantasy perspective if it’s an ongoing concern.

The saints surely would’ve known about it when they got him.

Here’s the comment itself - doesn’t read well for him at all! However, not sure how reliable the source is.

He has hamstring tendinitis. Has carried it for last couple of years and willnfor the career. Just needs to be managed week to week unfortunately.

Doesn't sound like he is managing it too well. So he may not miss games, just affect his performance.

Hanneberry has done a hamstring , out for a month

Source: Channel 7 Adelaide News
I don’t think this comment is quite correct fwiw. Not the standard hanstring tear which would rule him out for a month. Browne himself is saying “it is not serious”.

However, it might possibly be an even worse kind of injury that requires ongoing management.

Sorry, didn’t mean to discourage you from posting.

If it was just that same news bulletin from above by Tom Browne, I’m not sure that he meant hanners was out for one month... that’s all!

St Kilda declare Dan Hannebery’s hamstring issue as ‘minor’ and he remains on track for season 2019

St Kilda has allayed fears surrounding the fitness of star recruit Dan Hannebery and is adamant that the midfielder remains on track to feature in the upcoming JLT Community Series.

The former Swan was withdrawn from a match simulation 10 days ago, completing drills on the sideline after reporting hamstring tightness on February 1.
Later scans indicated no strain with the star able to engage in an arduous running session last week.
“Dan experienced some hamstring tightness during match simulation training 10 days ago but scans cleared him of any strain,” a Saints spokesperson said.
“His workload has been reduced slightly and he’ll step up his training over the next week as the club continues to take a conservative approach.
“It’s a minor issue which isn’t expected to impact his preparations for the season.”
Hannebery, 27, who joined the club at the end of last season on a five-year deal, reported a similar issue in December with those scans clear.
Given his history with hamstring injuries, the club has kept a close eye on Hannebery’s training load in recent months as he builds towards his 11th AFL season.
