I seem to have three (maybe even 4) port rookies in my team at times... Surely Port won't blood 3 or 4 first gamers in round 1, right? So... really I need to start looking at possible alternatives to Drew, Butters, Rozee and Duursma.

Have all 4 of them back in my team at the moment , I think until teams drop we may not know if we have any viable alternatives to start or not.

Port probably have 3-4 of their Best 22 that could be back anywhere between Round 2-6 depending on what you read , so I guess if they are named they just need to perform.

Doesn't look like there's a spot for Hind at the moment, unfortunately. Would be surprised if he's named RD1 (but I'll pick him for the bench if he is).

Is Duursma an intentional omission? How do people feel about starting all of Duursma, Butters and Drew? Feels like they can't all be wins.
Whoops, knew there was one I’d missed from my locks. I’m comfortable enough to start Duursma as well

I remember this same kind of worry around Butler, Otten and Houston 2-3 years ago.

If named r1 shut your eyes and hope for the best.
I think you’ve just got to be confident enough from what you’ve seen in JLT, that they can keep other players out.

Happy to share my thoughts....

Def: 4 of Ridley, Collins, Scrimshaw, Clark, Hore, Duursma (maybe in the mids) and Burgess

I like Ridley but he is a bit of a luxury so if my structure and $$ allow I have him as D5.
Duursma I am not so worried about his JS as he is the type of donut that could be handy and I think he plays enough to make enough by upgrade time even if he is in and out.

Mid: 6 of Cousins, Walsh, LDU, Hately, Butters, Scott, Atkins, Gibbons, Hind, Bewley (i still think he could play)

Ruc: Z Clarke if named, Fort or Bines if not

Fwd: 5 of Moore, Battle, Setterfield, Drew (see Duursma JS comment), Balta, Parker, Petrucelle, Burgess, Moore and Woodcock (FD)

I'm more likely to start a donut on the other lines if Z Clarke is named

I feel strangely calm for this time of the year.....going to try and stay that way once teams are named LOL

You make it sound so easy.... I've bolded the guys who I currently have based on your list. I think you may be one lighter in the mids than me. If Bewley did play, he'd make me more confident to rely on 3 rookies on field in the mids.

I've got Ridley in defence at the moment but could drop him down to Clark or possibly push him fwd to D.Moore if I need a restructure. The other way for me to get Clark is to pivot Duursma into the mids and get Clark for B.Scott.

Uncertain as to who has the better JS or scoring potential out of Clark and B.Scott.

Yeah I have really liked the way Scott has racked them up and my trawling of BF boards lends me to think he is a good pick. I will likely start both him and clark though. At this stage I am experimenting with all of Ridley/Cousins/Walsh in my team and am happy with how the rest looks. BUtters may be the one I go without....I like him but think he is so light I just think when port play a less bruise free game than the 2 JLT games then he may be one sore lad! Likely at least one of the top $$ players will likely drop out though as my fwd line looks thin but this is my preferred structure. Thinking of running the gauntlet with 3 rooks on field in the fwd line even though this seems to work better at the def end for on field scoring potential.

Clark over Butters is an interesting call. I have considered it. I just hate missing good rookie scores, and Butters has scored 90+ and 80+ in the PS which shows he has the ceiling. Plays Carlton and Lions in R2 and R3, would hate to miss an 80+ there with a bag of goals....

Anyone going to be starting more than 1 or 2 of Ridely, Roberton, Moore, Cousins, Walsh, LDU, Rozee?

The more i look at the rookies, the more i'm tempted to get 3 or 4 of these blokes and just hope for the best.

2 max for me. I’d rather start two at around 400k then a premo and 200-250k bloke.
