Any chance Baker or Bolton can get a good run of games?

Dusty back this week, Cotchin 2-3 weeks, Houli a chance to return and JRoo 3 weeks away.

Think i just answered my own question...
Riewoldt expected to play this week or the Anzac eve game , according to Dimma

North Melb.
came in for an injury game 1, dropped game 2 but late in, poor JS
late inclusion for Jetta , @Lost In The Sky is the man to ask

EDIT

and @GrainFedBeef or @lavenderbandit
Yep agree 100%, was covering for Duggan (knee) in his first game, Duggan came back this week so Rotham was dropped but received a reprieve when Jetta was a late out. Not sure what Jetta's issue was, but he'll be straight back in when fit which could be this week.

Our back 6 or 7 of Gov, Barass, Hurn, Cole, Jetta, Duggan and Shepard is very strong... so Rotham will have to settle for filling in for injured players. Also has Premiership defender Will Schofield to compete with for a spot... so Rotham isn't a good pick.

Loved his game though and will get his opportunities in the future.
Great intel guys thanks, feels like a pass based on that.

For those on rookie watch. Comments below on a few players from the west in an article written yesterday.

Brett Bewley (117k MID): Had a decent WAFL debut in the midfield. Found plenty of the ball but, like several of his teammates struggled to hit targets.

Luke Valente (117k MID): Super impressive on debut. The South Australian looks to be a draft steal at pick 32.

Tom North (123k MID): The Thunder’s best player with 28 disposals, seven tackles and four inside-50s. Looks ready for an AFL debut.

Matthew Allen (123k M/F): Impressive again playing as a tall midfielder as he closes in on an AFL debut. His 25 disposals were at 84 per cent efficiency, second behind only Will Schofield (88).

Anyone know if we have any def rookies on the horizon? Seems like the main options are mids (Hately and the freo/rich rookies) or fwd (corbett).

If not, could make the case stronger to grab a Hore/Rotham this round....?

McInerney 117k DEF could be one but he only scored 21....from 56%TOG

I'm annoyed I have Hore at the moment now...

The other option is switching Moore back, but that weakens the forward line!

Having said that, there's noone really I'm jumping up and down to trade out in the defence - all are ticking along nicely.

Good call re switch into defence. The one option I’m considering is switching Duursma into the mids to allow Duursma to be switched back in later on if needed.

Burgess might be handy for those just for that function (but Burgess himself seems to be a failed cash cow).

I like the Duursma move, was suggested to me earlier today.

Is Lockhart an option if he comes straight back in this week? Scott to Lockhart means that Duursma link is opened up.

Possibly but I think it was Garlett who might be contending for that small fwd spot with him. Just found this on Garlett on the AFL site.

Small forward Jeff Garlett was one of Melbourne's best AFL-listed players in Casey's 54-point win over North Melbourne.

In his second game back after a shoulder injury, Garlett kicked three goals from his 18 disposals, as well as laying five tackles.

Lockhart is actually the other possible def rookie which might be in the pipeline so might be better if he isn’t back right now and comes in later (perhaps if there’s an injury).

I think Burgess’ DPP with Moore o***ets part of the cash cow element. I’m covering a forward rookie on field with a defence rookie Duursma thanks to this.

Also as you point out he opens up more trading options.

It would be a bonus if he could score better but is he going much worse than most forward rookies do?

Miers/Petrucelle were probably the hindsight better picks but not many took them in any case. Both had players ahead of them in the preseason but have held spots due to injuries to ie Cockatoo/W.Rioli.

He might still turn out okay if he puts in an 80 odd at some point. GC’s draw gets tougher from here though and Corbett to come into that fwd line too after overcoming injury. Could switch into defence too. Might be more useful as a D/F donut in any case. Better pick than Balta in any case!

Looks like Jetta is on track to play. If Rotham still gets named with Jetta returning, do you think it’s a positive enough sign to take a punt on him?
