I've prepared the following table with the ruck contests of Gawn v Tmac/Preuss/Weiderman based on the above. Haven't yet done a comparison with the 2018 stats but if people are interested, could do it over the long weekend. As a basic indicator, including finals, Gawn averaged 71 RCs (from 25 games), TMac averaged 8 (from 20 games), Weiderman averaged 14 (from 10 games)

In round one, Gawn spent less time in the ruck due to some injury.
In round four, his % ruck contests dropped from ~88% to ~70%.

Spot on! Just to show how Gawn's ruck time has reduced as a result of Preuss.
Do you think round 1 was an exception due to be hindered by Ryder and Lycett and without Pruess rounds 2+3 would be his norm going forward?

Hope Pruess misses this week even though it’d likely only be one week with what Goodwin is saying about wanting Pruess in the side.

Also helps Marshall slightly if Pruess misses.

I think Gawn said he some injury leading into round one, so I agree that R2-3 is his norm.

Bulldogs' ruck strategy to stay unchanged after Collingwood blowout
Yan Zhuang April 18, 2019

The Western Bulldogs are unlikely to make significant changes to their ruck strategy despite being dominated in hit outs in last week's loss to Collingwood, according to coach Luke Beveridge...……."There's more to the game than the hit outs and we feel like Tim English's really progressing. We were rapt with his impact in other phases of the game."

Josh Dunkley was trying to pinch in and help, Beveridge said, and the inclusion of experienced Jackson Trengove was a possibility.

………..When asked whether there would be changes to selection this week, Beveridge confirmed that "there will be. We need to reward some of the really good performances from the boys who've been playing for Footscray."...…...

Star midfielders Marcus Bontempelli and Patrick Cripps will be in the heat of the battle but not locked together in an all-ground contest.
"They'll definitely be in around that contest together for large portions of the game," Beveridge said.
"But I wouldn't imagine Bolts [Carlton coach Brendon Bolton] is going to assign any reponsibility there.
"Marcus won't have any responsibility directly to control [Cripps'] output over the four quarters."...…..

Given Preuss was incapacitated for much of second half, this is definitely worth watching. If Preuss is named and I'm facing a forward donut, Gawn to ROB will be too hard for me to resist, I think.

Just looking at ROB on TooSerious

IF he maintains his current average

After Round 8 = $ 311,909.00

After Round 10 = $ 351,443.00

After Round 13 = $ 385,533.00

could be a nice swap to a Fallen forward premium Round 14 if he can maintain his scoring
I reckon Tooserious calculator is slightly less rises and falls so could be even more’

Yea, yea, yea. By not starting them I was able to squeeze James Worpel to D4 and Matt Crouch to M5. So there.
Hey at least you didn't use the spare cash to pick Jack Darling and Angus Brayshaw instead. Give me Worpel any day.

Seriously though, nobody can rain on my joy this week: the one round all year both my rucks will outscore Grundy and Gawn :LOL:
